One-Day NPCs: Superior to a quickie?
« on: October 15, 2004, 08:18:34 PM »
There's a truly fascinating discussion on the relative merits of One-Day NPCs at Studio right now. It would be far too dangerous to allow me to participate in that discussion, of course, but I'm still intrigued.

On the honor system, I would like to ask ONLY THOSE OF YOU who have created a One-Day NPC to vote in the poll above.

Edit: Link to Studios deleted, since the GenRev forum no longer exists. But, trust us, it was fascinating.

Sadly, I am still illegible ineligible to vote in this poll, despite my efforts with Indira (which blossomed in to several months of procrastination), the Turnip Golem (a fifteen minute mod-on-a-whim, but not really an NPC), and all of those Iron Mod things.

Sometimes, the real value is in the question, not the answer. :)

Suddenly I feel like I should be called Grasshopper.  :-[

And yes, I did make a 4-day NPC with limited interjections, limited banters, limited stats, etc etc. It started out as a kit, then I went crazy. And it's a joke NPC which I now feel extremely guilty about making. This one truly might be the best thing since Jan.  :-[

So... if I've made an One-Hour NPC that doesn't even join the party, what does that equal on the sex scale?  30 seconds of innuendo in a chat room?   ???

If we're going to be doing this on a sliding scale with a ratio of one day to 5 minutes, then a one-day NPC that took several months would mean... Yowza. :D

Well, I talked JC into qualifying me, and er... I chose lovemaking over coding any day. And twice on Sunday :) I asked my hubby and he too prefered the quicky over me making another one day NPC...  The question is: why I still mod?

Given:
t= 5 minutes
S = sex
O = Orgasm
W= Time Well Spent!

t(S) + O = W

I personally derived great pleasure from my One-Day Modding experience.  :pirate

This may explain why it took me 6.4 days, though.

One days far superior to a quickie. Now if that was a 1 day npc vs 1 day of sex I'm afraid I'll have to go with the sex.

Bons: that is modding tantra. :) OOOps having never even read a readme of an one day NPC i am not supposed to vote. I thought those with quickies could enter. :(

I could even get in some banter and a quest. :D Sharing the joy  is so much easier with one-day npcs though.

 i didn't make the mistake of qualifying myself.  however, even if qualified i would have to ask if this 'making love for five minutes' referred to 'any five consecutive minutes of lovemaking activity' or 'lovemaking that is over in five minutes'.  from most of the explained responses referring to quickies, i suppose it's taken as the latter.  in which case - well, my jury will just have to remain hung until i pop my modding cherry... :pirate
 and believe you me i'll make that first mod laaaaaaaast... :-*

Same thing here, sorry, I was too fascinated by the headline/poll to read the rules ;D

Edit: Oh, also the poll's headline doesn't allow me to vote. I am truly sorry. But at least I read a One-Day-NPC-Readme :)

I didn't vote; I haven't made a One-Day NPC.   :P

But, well, I always vote for sex.  Whenever possible.  And if five minutes is all I can get, I'll take it!   ;)

The real question is: Would making a 1 day NPC while having random quickies throughout be superior to one or the other? And perhaps even more importantly, Would it negatively affect the quality of the mod?

  depends on the scope.  ::)

I don't remember how I voted. :(

But One-Day NPCs bring joy to more than two(generally) people! Damn, I seem to be wading in RE waters again.
