Unfinished Business
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:54:52 AM »
Baldur's Gate has its share of features that were left out and this mod will restore some of them. I am not out to find and re-introduce each and every one of them but those I run across that seem easy to restore or particuarly worthwhile will be put back into the game. If you have any additional UB information please post it here.

Restored Components:

-Meeting Elminster in The Friendly Arm Inn during Chapter 4.
(This is actually just a bug which results from a scripting error that was never fixed by the patches for some reason)

-Entar Silvershield can be found in his estate.
He is not that talkative but may yied more information if charmed...

Various Notes:

There seems to be some sort of punishment involving Keldath Ormlyr if the party kills Marl in Feldepost's Inn.

BioWare apparently intended to have two-handed axes in the game. One-handed axes use the AX1H** naming scheme that is also used by swords (SW1H** and SW2H**).

There is an unimplemented cutscene after the game ends with an entire area and some items related to it.

String References:

216 (Chain Armor Of Darkness)
There are no ITMs or BAMs related to this. Possibly a developer having fun.

326-327 (Some riddle - ELMINS.dlg)

385 (Slime man - MTOWBE.dlg)

399 (Portal in Ulcaster School Ruins - MTOWBE.dlg)

456 (Kagain find Entar Silvershield's son's body - KAGAIN.dlg)
The body of Entar Silvershield's son is not in the game.

746 (Volo leaves without paying - VOLOSE.dlg)

1616 (Secret entrace to the Iron Throne building - HUSAM.dlg)

1667 (Uncovering the true identify of Eltan's 'healer' - TAMOKO3.dlg)

1698-1709 (Being smuggled into Baldur's Gate - SMUGGL.dlg)

Firebead Elvenhair was named Wilton by BioWare at some point. His sound files are WILTN01-04 and there is a WILTON.cre (and DLG) who uses the same sound. Wilton is a farmer who gives the party the Cloak of Displacement for helping Farmer Brun.

Is it possible that the Ogre-Mage under the sewers is an unfinished quest? I remember playing that particular part and finding myself irritated.

If you continue to accept Scar's quests he will eventually ask you to investigate some missing persons. This leads you to the Ogre Mage and his Carrion Crawlers.

An early sketch for the record sheet...

...and one for the inventory.

The fact that this third picture exists suggests that BioWare originally wanted it to possible
for players to design their own scripts. If you have a look at it you will notice that at the top
of the left coloumn it says 'Triggers' and at the top of the right one it says 'Actions'. For
whatever reason they never finished this and we got the various class scripts instead.

Looks like they originally intended us to be able to change backpack, left and right shoulder pads, undershirt, overshirt, greaves, leggings, and a couple of other things, besides those which made it :).

I wonder how that divison between group and personal inventory was supposed to work.

Id recon that all characters would be able to see the group section no matter who's selected, for passing items around and stuff like that.

Wish all the stuff in those pictures were in the game. particulary the inventory, been able to place all those different types of items on the character would be cool.

Hey Echon,

Any ETA on the release of BG1: Unfinished Business?  And will it be compatible with FotD?

Thanks,
LoneRogue

I am not the one making that mod so I suggest you head for the BG:UB forum and ask there.

The two mods should be compatible.
