Portrait Thingy
« on: April 08, 2004, 02:45:11 PM »
Okie well this is just a quick question for people who make their own custom portraits;

I noticed lots of people use the background from the standard Baldur's Gate portratis (ex. Using the pretty blues and white in Anomen's background.  I'm just a little curious to know if people would like different backgrounds that are similar to the defaults, but have different colors and patterens...  err Oh, Im just confusing you all more huh?

Okie, let's put it this way; would it be any more helpful/interesting/of a difference if I made some pretty backgrounds for you all to put your character's portrait on top of?  Does that make more sense?  Sorry if it doesn't.

Sounds like that would provide a good jump-off point for people working on Baldurizing their own portraits, yes.

Teehee, oh goodie.  Now believe it or not, it's hard to get three sort of alike colors to blend and look nice, takes me about a half an hour to get it right, but I can't get my people to look as good, so I figured I'd see if anyone would care if I donated.  I'll get a link up when I get back home then, like I've said before, I have a HUGE amount of space on my domain and not enough on it.  So, if it will prove helpful/useful to anyone else, please look forward to portrait backgrounds ::smiles::

One quick piece of advice is that I recommend you make them as large as possible to give people leeway to play with very high res sources. Nothing would be more frustrating than a beautiful 110x170 background that would be hard to cleanly integrate, I'd have to think.

Hmmm... Several months back, there was a really pretty sunset, the sky was full of reds and oranges, maybe i still have the pics on my digital camera.... If i still have em, it would provide great backrounds for your mods/avatars/portraits, just tell me and ill email em to ye.

It's been a long while since I've mentioned anything about this, much less been on the forums ::sighs::  as you may remember a long while back my computer crashed and everything along with it ::grumbles::  I'll try and re-do the background but I can't promise anything, it took me an hour each to blend five lousy colors together ::sighs::  However I did want to share my first portrait edit that I've ever done.  My apologies if it's not up to anyone's standards  :)

I called it Kellie, I don't know why really, she just kinda looks like a K name :;shrugs::  I was thinking Kira, but she doesn't look evil enough  :P

Why not call her Kaerie?  ;)
