Have you noticed all the connections on tv and in movies of LOTR stuff? In Shrek 2 you see the ring fly up "in the air and onto Frodo's finger in the inn" style, with (I think) "I love you" imprinted into the ring, just like the regular ring.. Then you see various Gollums in cartoons..
