Improved Bodhi crashes my game
« on: January 03, 2004, 03:56:40 AM »
Well, it's all said in the title. I have installed the Tactics mod, and now when i must face Bodhi (in chapter 3), the game crashes and i'm throwed to the desktop with an assertion failed

I'll just uninstall this component, but i thought you might want to know.

Oh, BTW i'm playing on a Mac running MacOS X.2 but it shouldn't cause any trouble. I have several other weidu mods too, i can think of Improved Battles wich also contains some encouter changes but none should affect Bodhi

A good-old reinstall will solve your problem most assuredly.

Mmh, i have some doubts

It was a clean fresh install. It's the first game i play with that install. I made a fresh install, upgraded to latest version, installed the baldurdash fixes, then a few (well, quite some) weidu mods. It's as clean as it could be, except if some of the mods conflict, but i can't think of another mod that should change Bodhi.

Wait, except maybe Freedom reign, it could have added some items to Bodhi, FR is said to add items to some of the most powerful creatures.

Here is my Weidu log if it can help find incompatibilities

OK, there should be some unknowns to you : AM is a Alex Macintosh, a merchant made by Team Mac BG, shouldn't change Bodhi.
SBS is Summon Bhaalspawn, another Team Mac BG mod, lets you summon another one of your sisters  It's a joinable NPC, no relation with Bodhi.
Setup Bigby, setup fam, setup upgrade, setup wish and setup tobupdate are all parts of the ToB for SoA pack, developped by Loriel at Team Mac BG to give some of the ToB features to SoA players (when we thought we would never get ToB for Mac). They add some spells, upgraded familiars, and slightly change the progression of some classes. Nothing that should be related to Bodhi

Oh, BTW, improved Bodhi doesn't use any ToB abilities does she? It would crash my SoA game if she does.

Hmm, the problem lies elsewhere then.

Nope. FR won't add any items to Bodhi.

The last thing I can advise is to uninstall ALL mods, then start to install them one-by one, starting with the most important. Try to chaek your game each time you install a new mod, and this way you can track down the "bugged" component. ;)

Hy Bob,

Sometimes it's the installation order that may produce problems so as a reference point I present you my own WeiDu log which up to now hasn't created not a single problem.

Hope that it will help:

Also, something you may have done already, but when performing a fresh reinstall it is important to make sure you delete the override folder before installing.

Do you mean deleting the content of the override folder after making the clean install, and before installing the mods. I thought if the installer puts something in the override folder, then i had better keep it there

Or do you mean delete the content of the old override folder before reinstalling the game. I wich case, this rreally doesn't apply to me since i always do a fresh install in an entirely new place (the mac BGII installer being a little stupid, it can only install at the root of my HD, then i move my "BGII - SoA" folder into my Games folder, it means i never reinstall over a previous game if this is what you meant)

Thanks Aroc for your install order. Yes, there are some mods i don't know, but i guess there is also some ToB mods, and ToB for mac have yet to reach Europe. I'll try reinstalling in a different order then (but first i will need to uninstall all the mods  )

I meant the second choice: deleting the override folder before reinstalling the files.  Its a rather obvious problem, but when trouble shooting its always good to get the stupidly easy reasons out of the way early on.  Its amazing how often they are at fault.

That all said and done, I don't have a clue why you version isn't working but I don't know enough to do more than help with the obvious possible reasons for it not working.
