Nalia Flirting Question
« on: April 02, 2004, 11:27:28 AM »
Since the Nalia Romance is going to feature flirting like Kelsey, I am wondering if it will contain any 'easter-eggs' like Kelsey.  One of my favourite features of Kelsey's flirting is where the PC and Kelsey have resist fear cast upon them if you choose certain flirts from the list, like a little boost of the warm fuzzies.  I'm just wondering whether Nalia's will have any little treats like this?

Andyr: It's the 'cool, kinky' dirty as opposed to the 'take a bath you fucking messy fuck' dirty :)

Quite likely, as that little throwaway feature seems to have gone over quite well.

While I thought the resist fear thingy was cute, I usually attributed it to the fact that Kelsey was a sorcerer and might have let his contol over his powers slip. The result is of corse good because he is in a good mood (unlike when he tells you of his first acid arrow). But Nalia is a mage so her magic works differently and it wouldn't make sense to me anyway. Just a thought.

Some emotions can help block out others. As well as loves ability to block out things like common sense. I can see a "Fearless effect" being cause by an emotional situation in a romance (though I'm not sure what happens in this particular one) Wether they feel braver, or they just want to fight harder for the one they care for, or they are just blinded by their affections for each other that they don't realize that they SHOULD be afraid.

You're right that it was part of the intention. I'll try to find a way to do it so that Nalia and the PC still get their warm fuzzies without "cheapening" how it works for Kelsey.

yeah, kinda thought it was just a case of the warm fuzzies, but I guess it doesn't matter what the reason is so long as it happens :)

I think Nalia would be the most uptight in the flirting department. Even more so then Aerie. I can picture the PC taking a point of damage as Nalia slaps him across the face and yells "pervert!"
Now, at last, the masks had fallen away.  The strings of the puppets had become visible, and the hands of the prime mover exposed.  Most ironic of all was the last gift that Raziel had given me, more powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision his sacrifice had accorded me - the first bitter taste of that terrible illusion:  Hope.

I disagree strongly. Nalia likes adventure and I don't think she has a cowardly bone in her body. She giggles when the old man at the funeral flirts with her. I don't see Jason writing anything disrespectful and/or disgusting enough that Nalia would feel the need to defend herself.

I'm afraid you haven't quite checked out all of the flirt pack options, neriana. :)

That said, it will be an interesting balance to write, as Nalia is certainly different than anybody else I've written flirts for. We'll all just see.

I just think smacking someone and calling him a pervert is an extreme reaction for Nalia. Unlike punching someone is for Jaheira.  :D

Doesn't Farthington Roenel flirt with her a bit, saying she can call him 'Farthy' or whatever? Nalia replies to that with something like "You are a positive CAD!" and then Isaea interrupts. The dwarf didn't flirt with her, if that's what any of you are thinking.

cad    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (kd)
n.

A man whose behavior is unprincipled or dishonorable.

So, seems to me that flirting while she has no romantic feelings or intentions would get you a kind of uptight response, whereas when she starts feeling for you then she'd be less so.

I don't think she's joking with Farthington, but I do think that her indignation likely comes from that fact that he is 1) a married man, 2) old enough to be her father, and 3) subscribes to the idea that she's engaged (to his son, yet), none of which apply to the PC.

I'm just going to reiterate here that I'm quite certain she's joking. It's society flirting, people. It's like saying to the hostess of your dinner party "So where's that bum who has the gall to call himself your husband?" and her saying "Why, good sir, I should turn the dogs on you for that comment!" all done with big smiles and fluttering eyelashes.

That perspective on Farthington and Nalia's relationship with him would seem hard to reconcile with his trying to conquer the Keep.

I see nothing inconsistent about "Call me 'Farthy', and be a nice girl and give me your Keep."
