Cheat Mode:
Some of the cheese in this guide uses the cheat mode of the game, open up the install folder of the game, and look for a file called balder.ini.  Scroll down until you see the section called "[Program Options]".  Start a new line in that section and in the line add this command "Debug Mode=1".
Eep!!
It's baldur.ini
LOL

whats really depressing is i already have two more cheese in the first version of the addendum document...they are minor, one mod based exploit and one pickpocketing exploits...

i left out a bunch of the standard cheeses, like the pickpocketing and selling stuff back to fences, since everyone knows them, i tried to go for the cheese not well known...  :D  :P

zvi, you will be in the credits for the proofreading, thanks, and i will add that tasty one about the called shot...i was actually aware of that one, but simply forgot to add it to the huge doc...sigh...

anyway, folks, version 1.1 is up and downloadable on the same page as the original, and version 1.2 will be out soon, with proofreads, and a couple of additions to existing cheese, and the users guide to spell protection breaking....

not  cheesy, just a guide for smashing thru all the spell protected monsters in the game, a straight on brutal and ruthless approach for killing high level spell casters...

Good job with the guide User!  :)

I use sim's and images alot also, but with the info in the guide I've been able to refine the use even further. A lot of great stuff and I love the intro. Very funny.

I found more cheese with the familiars.  Similar to the drop trick but you don't have to wait for it to decay.  If you have a mage and summon a familiar, then export and start a new game Irenicus will steal your familiar allowing you to summon a new one and keep the hit points from the original.  Rinse and repeat until you are satisfied with the results.

cast spell immunity divination before the selfish test in hell, you will lose NO attribute points...

i wonder if the right immunities will protect you from alignment change....

hhhhhhahahhahhahhhahhahha......get blackrazor and still stay lawful goody goody....

select which boosts you get....pick from good and evil list...hehhhahhahahhah :D

How about this one for good mage protection,

Cast mislead then cast sanctuary on that perhaps as its not always possible to move them out of sight.

mislead includes invisibility...and impr invisibility...and sanctuary and invisibility are pretty much the same, ai wise, and because mislead also includes impr invisibility when attacking or spell casting, mislead is the true cheesy super spell...

How do I give the "use any item" ability to any non-thief?

Also, what's with the bunnies? Is it a "Full Throttle" reference?

Thanks.

Ok, I'll read thru the cheese post.

The reason I asked about bunnies is the game "Full Throttle". You play a biker gang chieftan wrong framed for murder. One of the challenges is to get to the bad guy's office - of course. It just happens to be surrounded by a minefield. The way to get across the minefiled is to go back to the demolition derby racetrack, steal the box of pink wind-up bunnies from the souvenir stand, go back to the mindfield, wind 'em up, and let them ... er ... clear a way through the mindfiled for you - all the while listening to the sonorous stains of Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries!" Quite possibly the funniest moment I have ever encountered in a game.

Is it possible to do like the 25 charisma cheese, but for constitution, by using belt of strengh (the one that gives you 18 con) and killing familiars?

Bunny exploit (since you don't seem to have it, I don't think...it'd be another wish exploitation)...yes there really is one, and no, I didn't make it up.  It's known on the Ironworks boards, but I haven't quite been able to figure out who came up with it.

Essentially, it's a variation on the group Abi Dahlzim's idea.  However, before using wish to do that...break out limited wish to summon the hoard of bunnies.  Since the wish will cast an ADHW on everyone in the area...that's one for each bunny

yes, but that would be just mean....

i like the bunnies, they are up there with inv stalkers for usefulness...

i doubt it, but feel free to prove me wrong...it might work, but you would need to whack many bunnies, or ferrets or little dragons...

OH MY GOSH!!!!

i get the bunny exploit now...

thats just sick, plain and simple, and so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i will post on the next edition of the cheese guide!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you!!!!!!!!!

do you guys get it???

unleash the horde, they get attacked by firky or chromatic demon, and then you cast wish, ask for abi on everyone in the map, and because each bunny gets an abi, the target area, where the bunnies are, gets hit with....20 abi dahzims!!!!!!!!!!

this would of course work as well if you use project image to summon about 20 skellys or inv stalkers, and send them in waves first...once they turn hostile, after being hit by indescriminate abi's, deathspell them...

this one is just sick, plain and simple....

masteraleph, i will credit to ironworks, but you will get mention for telling me about this one...

this one really is just FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've tested the possible constitution trick with killing off familiars.  It doesn't work, since the game engine records the fact that you've lost CON, unlike the Charisma trick where the game doesn't know that your CHA was ever different (after the decrease).  The mechanics of this are explained in Obsolete URL removed  over in the Baldurdash forum.

BTW, I did a bit more looking, and the credit goes to Dundee Slaytern over on the IW boards...somehow I thought it'd be him.  Here's the thread on it:

One more comment on the bunnies (apologies, I really don't intend to be spamming this thread, I just have yet to register and thus can't edit).  I just wanted to do justice to the technique on here, because my comment before wasn't complete...it's not just one limited wish worth.  It's 8.  Which means 160 bunnies.  This is called the "Bunny Nuke"...and dundee even has a 4 round layout for getting it done in one battle...I highly suggest that you check out that thread, it's quite amusing.

nope, sorry...

you cannot do spell immunity...its not even seen when you cast the spell...

however, you can cheat in using shadowkeeper individual spell immunity spells...

for example, a .spl file exists for spell immunity:divination...

so you can actually add the spell to a mage's spell book using shadowkeeper..

osprey, have you read my cheese guide???

i am almost thinking i should write "the user's guide to blatant cheating"...in which i detail exactly how to create kensai sorcerors, monk kensai anti pallys, wild mage cleric kensais, and other seriously overpowering characters...

well, when chloe or edwin or whatever mod comes out, i will reinstall the game, and write up another guide to

kensai sorcerors
kensai aerie!!
monk kensai anti paladin..
wildmage cleric kensai
archer kensai
cleric/totemic druid kensai jahiera
assassin sorceror kensai

and many other seriously sick and game unbalancing hacks..

 :D  :D  :D

but i dont think wes planned eclipse and tactics mod to handle

a monk kensai antipally

the easy way to add use any item is to simply go to the abilities tab, search, and add the spell to the character you want, then increment the number of this spell memorized, so you have added the use any item ability with one instance of the spell memorized to any npc...

then save, open up the game, you should find a button on the character with the use any item icon...click on it, and you will see the graphics...

save, reopen in sk, remove the spell...

now imoen can use holy avenger..hahhahah

Thanks for the help.  I was trying to directly edit the Affects tab, with little luck.
actually you're in the right track...the spl file added to a npc, then cast in the game will actually add a line in the affects file...open up the affects file of a saved game after casting use any item ability, then you will see a brand new line in the affects file at the very bottom....

copy this line over to any other npc, and they will each have use any item...also, since the casting of the spell adds a perminent line to the affects tab, you may now remove the button...

btw....did you know that everything in the game that is a special ability or whatever is a spell??? for example, i located and added the special ability "Wish spell hardiness..." the wish spell option cast hardiness on entire party, and it is a spl file, so i added that special ability to my npc...i opened the game, and cast the spell on myself, and my ENTIRE party all had hardiness cast on them...so, all i need to do is first test bunny nuke, and then add the spell as a special innate ability....

so, in ascention, all i need to do is prebuff the party, make sure everyone is protected from magic energy, then use project image to summon 200 bunnies...this will fill the platform, then trigger the spawning of the five, and bunny nuke them...much much easier than screwing around with multiple casting of the wish spell, hoping to get the right option...

also previously tested and i can confirm it works is "make it as if the party rested a full night and memorized all their spells..." and "improve haste the entire party"

yes, you can have some really fun innate abilities...most will have no icon files associated, so you will have to hold the mouse pointer over them to identify the grey buttons, but a lot of fun, none the less...

yes, i am the master...you guys looking foward to the new guide,

Definately.  Might I recommend you include which gloabl affects variables need to be manipulated to help with certain quests.  I've recently obtained every stronghold, with the help of Shadowkeeper and the Multi-stronghold patch.  Several times the patch failed me, and I was forced to fiddle with globals in Shadowkeeper.  A list of the more commonly manipulated globals, and when it should be done would be a great help.

actually thats not something i know much about...

except for a few i found out from experiments, i know little about the globals...but thats a killer idea if someone who knows more about them could write up a faq about...

my knowledge is limited to shadow keeper, but seriously, folks...

almost anything you can do in near infinity, i can duplicate in shadow keeper...but not on items, but on npc's and cre files...

The comments are fair enough but aside from the fridge this forum alone has a remarkable 'off-topic' ratio, to which we can attribute the database problems earlier a little while back.
So - 93 pages
Soo2 - 17 ish pages
Faa - 18 ish pages

None of which had any serious discussion to it, or as far as I can see.

A potential cheese tactic.  Equip Haer'dalis's sword Chaos on the bard, or a fighter/thief with UAI and fire off a greater whirlwind.  The sword has an unresistable, no save -2 dexterity drain ability with a 30 second duration for every hit.  Also, none of the creatures in the game are immune to dexterity drain.

Dear User,

I've tried the charisma cheese with teh ugleh stick, but the game engine only gives me 24 charisma :(
No that I'm not satisfied, but I was promised 25. I think my charisma was about -2 when I took off the ring of human influence. Do I maybe need to get it lower for the full 25 exploit?

I believe that you lowered your charisma once too many.  If you were to repeat the experiment and lower it a few more times, then your resulting Charisma would be even lower than the 24 your got.  This is what I found when I tried the trick.

Hey, UU, here is one I thought might be workable.

Is is possible to have the main character as a Wizard or with the potion swap trick to use Sima then...

Have that decoy turn into the slayer, cause a load of carnage at no cost to yourself?  I've yet to test it but hey, tis a nice idea...!

what is the effect to use in Shadowkeeper to get Permanent improved alacrity?

I'm planning a Solo sorceror with that one... Can you smell the Destruction? can you feel power? Add inmunnity to Time stop (you get it a TOB, but who cares....) Point at irenicus an Laugh...  There is a way to let the sorcerer use Katanas with Shadowkeeper? It isn't as powerful as bun bun, but Overkill is Fun!!! (and let the sorcerer to add more than one proficiency point in those slots)

Yeah, only wnat katanas to weild Sanchu... Oh, god I LOVE that katana... (a lil overpowered, but all the Guys in tactics mod are anyway...) (add those guys in improved battles... Hey, If we are going the cheese way... we should get cheese enemies... (I know that is cheating, but the guys in tactics cheat also... You know that lich in the Docks? how many Spells has???? I runned out of protection from magic when fighting it... (all two scrolls!!!)

Of course, doing that means that you should play on insane, with all those Masochistic mods. And you sure will get a lot of problems in nasty fights... (Improved irenicus... Ascension... ah, the pain....)

add via shadow keeper the innate use any item...

be sure to increment the number of times the spell is memorized by one, so you can cast immediately after reload...this adds a line to the effects tab....this allows you to use any item in game including holy avenger and foa...

very soon, after chloe is released, I will make a comprehensive userun guide to making sorceror monks, druid kensais and other obscene characters...

impressive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is true cheese in the best tradition...

the possibility for exploit is immense!!!

using blindness to chop the fog of war...set traps, cast long spells, hide in shadows...

oh my...make an item with near infinity and exploit the heck out of it...

if the entire party is blind, you could set up traps, summon etc in eclipse, and other hard to fight encounters...this is literally brilliant...

the fog of war cuts two ways...thank you Blackmamuth...

when I get some time in real life, I will update it..this is good enough to merit its own version!!!

you will get credit for submitting!!!

Just popping over for a quick visit, from my usual post at Ironworks.....

Some Interesting Hell Cheese:

GREED: Send someone with Boots of Speed and a Mind Flayer Control Circlet to go talk to the Enslaved Genie. As soon as you get him in visual range, use the Circlet on him. He will initiate conversation, and you should cheerfully hand over Blackrazor. Just as he is beginning to Dimension Door away, the Circlet will kick in, and you can now control him and disrupt his Dimension Door. Now kill him, and he'll drop Blackrazor. Net Result: Good Bhaal Tear, no Alignment Change, Blackrazor, 31K EXP.

FEAR: During your conversation with Fear, choose the dialogue option of, "I don't know--let me explore the cavern first, and if I want the Cloak I'll come back for it." Then go collect the Tear, leave the cave and use the Tear*, and finally return to the cave and collect your free Cloak**. Any Beholder-ass-kicking should be done after collecting the Cloak, as Fear tends to vanish if he gets hurt by a Fireball. Net Result: Good Bhaal Tear, no Alignment Change, Cloak of Bravery.
* Since you must return to the cave, you cannot do the Test of Fear last if you wish to use this exploit.
** Paladins and Rangers will become Fallen if they accept the Cloak.

PRIDE: When talking to Pride, take the Good dialogue options. Then, instead of talking to the Dragon to claim your Tear, just walk up to it and kill it. Net Result: Good Bhaal Tear, no Alignment Change, 22K EXP, 100 GP.

Here is another one for those looking for some druidic abuse.

If Cernd (or anyone who is shapeshifted) gets transformed whilst talking to Adalon, they get the Drow avatar whilst keeping the abilities, stats and so on.  HOWEVER, they are able to use the avatar to equip weapons and the like, meaning that the normal 'shape shifted' penalties are somewhat nullified.

Now, imagine the possibilities for exporting the character...!

sorry guys, long time no see...

busy in real life, and been playing master of orion 2....3 just sucks...

here is a bit of cheese some kind soul can test for me...I don't have bg2 installed and won't have it installed until I have the time and the will to work on the guide...

one of the options in the wish spell is cast improved haste on party...does this mean if you choose this option, improved haste is cast on SUMMONS as well????

imagine using project image to summon up a horde of skeleton warriors, and casting wish to improve haste them all!!!!  or mordy swords...hasted skellys and swords are bad enough, but imagine an army of them with improved haste, doubling their attack rate!!!!
