Will Keto also have an alternate portrait?
It's not that I don't like the one that's (as far as I know, and believe me, that's not far) the default, but when I plau a game, I don't want to be remember of Liv Tyler.
(nothing against her though).
-
That's not terribly high on the list of priorities. We know it's pretty easy for players to swap in their own, after all. If there end up being a lot of good submissions or something, we can see about working them in or at least doing a gallery page.

Ok, fair enough.

How does this work? Swapping NPC portraits?
-
I believe it's as easy as finding the one you want, naming it to the NPC and putting it in the override folder.
-
THNX. I read somewhere that you have to name it N(NPC's name here).bmpL/S.
Is that right?
-
Generally that's the standard. Kelsey is slightly different. You'll be able to figure it out (or we'll document it in the Keto readme.)
I don't remember reaction to this portrait being so ambivalent-to-negative back when it was first made...
-
I thought at the time that it did not quite match the "bard with penchant for drinking" description, but it is certainly well-made and looks good in the game. :)
-
Back when it came out, there wasn't much of a standard in Baldurized images. Then Karsten came along with her/his damned portrait portal! >:(
Now we're all pickier - well I am anyway :)
-
I'm not. ;D
But, in all seriousness, I think the portrait is the mod creators choice. I mean.. they're the ones that live and breathe the character, they're the one that create the personality; it stands to (my) reason/ing that they create the whole package. I'll supply my opinion (and we've all got one) but, ultimately, it's their vision. :)
-
Actually, Karsten was doing his thing back when Wynne made this pic... Blue had tried to go to him first but didn't provide him with a sufficiently high-res source for his liking (it was going to be a different source at the time... I actually can't recall whose idea it was to use this Tyler source.) By time we got back to him he already had that request list as long as his arm, and of course now he's closed up shop.
-
Incidentally, Bons went ahead and made an intriguingly different portrait for Keto. I'm hoping to get a little word back from Blue about it, but even if we don't get a ruling on "official" pic I'm sure it will be made available.

Can it be made available right now? I like portraits :).
-
I'll let Bons decide if she wants to flash it about. :)
-
Never say I haven't flashed you.

What's in the bottle?
OMG? ROLLING ROCKS?
-
I like it more than the original portrait though my only tiny suggestion will be "picturize" it a bit more. :) It is still too photo-like.
-
I too like this portrait better than the original - in this one she looks like a real party gal.
-
After discussing with Blue, this pic is now the official, default Keto pic. I'll be updating it on the PPG front-page in a day or two.
-
I like it... Keto would definitely wear a smile.
I second Domi's suggestion, but would like to request some hair coming out over her left shoulder, or something to fill in the gap - there might be something there already (my monitor is very dark) in which case it looks great. :)
-
I have paid attention and touched up the portrait, airbrushing some on the face using colors sampled from the BG2 portraits, adding a little hair and developing the cloak at the left shoulder. Any changes are looking pretty negligible once it's shrunk to the character and main screen sizes, though. Just think how much fun you'll have squinting at her party photo in game, trying to figure out which version we used and what blobs really are changes! Woohoo! ;)
-
Ah, yes, I sense that it is bound to become the majour attraction of the mod :) But, as the poet said "your griveous labours will not be in vain and the spark will birth the flames..." Erm, now that I think about it, it is not quite applicable, but I am very glad that Keto is becoming reality.

;D I forgot that part.
She's very cute, and I like it very much. Especially the bottle in her hand. ;)
-
I like this new portrait much better than the Liv Tyler one. Good job, Bons. :D

She's a lady. Whoa, whoa, whoa, she's a lady. I'm talkin' 'bout, that little lady. . .
-
Okay, I'm coming in late, but now I'm really curious. I never got to see the original Keto "Liv Tyler" portrait, and can't find it through thread hopping. Anyone still have it handy?

From The Vault™. :)
-
I'll do portrait packs of that one and the Muse variant probably after the bugfixing/audio adding hijinx quiet down.
-
My two cents: in the original portait Keto's more refined-looking, but then again she's a drunken party chic so she's not supposed to be refined-looking, she's supposed to look like the kind of girl you'd find in a bar drinking a lot! So, in the end, the original portait is better artistically, but the second one is better suited to Keto's, err, style.
-
The newer portrait is also more Baldur's Gate II--esque.
-
Is that Liv Tyler?
-
Yes.
