Title: EasyTutu Installation Error: Can't locate CD
Post by: Gurthaur on August 06, 2012, 04:40:19 PM
I have searched the forum in advance if there is such error, but nobody but me seems to got it. I have GOG.com's bundle, BG 1-2+Expansions; which has no installation options, but probably does a full install as no other files are required. Properly patched to 26498. Both games work fine, without asking CD. However, when I try to install EasyTutu, this log comes up:

Quote
08.07.2012 00:33 - acer-Bilgisayar\acer - Action: Create an EasyTutu Installation
x86 platform detected.
Baldur's Gate 1 folder: D:\Baldurs Gate
Baldur's Gate 2 folder: D:\Baldurs Gate II
Target folder: D:\BG Tutu
Pre-validating setup actions list...
  Unable to locate Baldur's Gate 2 CD2 folder!  Cannot continue!

I have checked baldur.ini in BG2 folder and CD's should be in my data folder:

Quote
HD0:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\
CD1:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD2:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD3:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD4:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD5:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD6:=D:\Baldurs Gate II\data\

I copied whats inside data\DATA and data\movies to one upper folder, changed CD locations to data\DATA - none of them solved it. Thanks in advance for helping.

First, welcome to PPG!

First and foremost, please try the search button. It's very possible the problem's been discussed already. I also know a virtual ToB CD usually helps, if one inserts it via Daemon Tools(works for me).

I'm not sure your second quote is correct, though - in my .ini file CD folders are different, i.e. C:\Games\BG2\CD3\ and so on. Again, please, try using the search function.

I searched prior opening the the post, thank you. I installed a CD version of BG2, eventhough this time it copied the data as "BG2-CD2" like yours, it still gives the same error. I'll try manual Tutu.

Manual tutu will also have troubles - a correctly formed baldur.ini will have the following passage;

[Alias]
HD0:=F:\BGII - SoA\
CD1:=F:\BGII - SoA\CD1\
CD2:=F:\BGII - SoA\CD2\;F:\BGII - SoA\CD2\
CD3:=F:\BGII - SoA\CD3\
CD4:=F:\BGII - SoA\CD4\
CD5:=F:\BGII - SoA\CD5\

which can be manually changed to whatever directory you  have moved the game. Examples from my install (several parallel installs) -

[Alias]
HD0:=E:\BG2TEST\
CD1:=E:\BG2TEST\CD1\
CD2:=E:\BG2TEST\CD2\;E:\BG2TEST\CD2\
CD3:=E:\BG2TEST\CD3\
CD4:=E:\BG2TEST\CD4\
CD5:=E:\BG2TEST\CD5\

[Alias]
HD0:=F:\ARAN_BETA\
CD1:=F:\ARAN_BETA\CD1\
CD2:=F:\ARAN_BETA\CD2\;F:\ARAN_BETA\CD2\
CD3:=F:\ARAN_BETA\CD3\
CD4:=F:\ARAN_BETA\CD4\
CD5:=F:\ARAN_BETA\CD5\

None of those directories actually contain any data, though you can try copying the CD contents in there - I have never bothered, because the game disc needis to be either in the drive or the disc .iso needs to be mounted in order for the game to run - and that means that the game will go there and get stuff if it really, really needs to.

I did manual Tutu and ran the game with NPC and Unfinished Business installed; it looks just fine.

Hello.

The new installer was developed using the GoG distributions, so they ought to work.

I'll see if I can recreate the issue here.

Works fine for me, even using your folder name for the BG2 folder.

Your BG2 folder should have a data subfolder, which the ini should reference (and yours does).  That data folder should contain subfolders named data and movies.  I'm looking for movies.bif in the movies subfolder in order to validate what's in your ini file.
