Title: "Fiend Farming"...?
Post by: Markal on July 23, 2011, 02:28:35 PM
Has anyone ever "farmed fiends" for free XP after installing the BGII Fixpack from the Gibberlings 3?  If not, have I got a nifty trick for you!

Basically, it involves these characters and spells:

- Any character that knows the Priest spell "Protection From Evil 10'"

- Any mage that can cast "Dispel Magic", "Project Image", and "Summon Fiend"

- A fighter or two

The basic premise is to cast "Protection from Evil" on your entire party, then have your mage cast "Project Image", and then have the "image" cast "Summon Fiend", which then brings a Glabrezu into the area.  This Glabrezu gives 12.5k XP each time it is killed by you or any of your party members.  Since all your party members are protected from evil, it can't attack.  Free XP.  Once the "image" runs out of "Summon Fiend" spells, have the image cast "Dispel Magic" on itself so that the mage can cast another "Project Image" spell.  Rinse, wash, repeat.  This is great for training dual-classed characters, such as Kensai-Mages, or my personal favorite, the Kensai-Thief.

- Naturally, the fewer characters in your party involved during this process, the better.

- One downside:  Players should be warned that this IS a very boring process.

P.S.: Setting the three mage spells to shortcuts and Wearing "Robes of Vecna" and the "Amulet of Power" on your mage makes the summoning process go faster.

If you're only going to stand around doing nothing, it'd be easier to just do:

CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP(X), where X is the experience number you wish for.

You could also just CLUA-command the game to jump straight to the end movie.

Just to clarify, this method is for people who DON'T like using the console.  Yes, I can just bring up the console and type in a few commands.  However, I tend to dislike using it.  Call it an OCD matter or somesuch, but I generally prefer to find ways to play without resorting to Ctrl+Spacebar.  ;D

Sarcasm so thick you could make cake batter out of it.   :D

So just delete & re-learn your known Wizard spells, over & over, until you've used up all the spare scrolls you've been collecting. No big deal. Heck, Ribald's special store has an infinite amount of Freedom scrolls, so at 9000 EXP apiece, you can literally buy experience if you've got a ton of money sitting around (which you do).

But, of course, doing something like that would be cheesy and unrealistic, so you probably wouldn't be interested.
