I am not able to part with you, not more than abhor myself, though I am doing it endlessly, these days.  We share a lifetime bond and these are not words.

I am not able to part with you, without abhorring myself, though I abhor myself constantly these days.  We share a lifetime bond and these are not empty words.  (or mere words/ or merely words/or just words ... at any rate you need another word in there :) )

Part of the storm ring quest.

Dialog option for when you have caught up to Selia.

Two words: the storm ring

(that's three words).  I think 'two words: storm ring' reads better than 'three words: the storm ring'.

just a nit,
from the nitpicker ...

Xan is recounting the night his father died:

...that he was poisoned and likely lethally ....

lethal  means :  gravely damaging or destructive, capable of causing death, very potent or effective

But it does not mean that death is certain.  Thus Xan's father was quite clearly lethally poisoned, the only question
was whether he would die of it or not.

change to:

... he was lethally poisoned and unlikely to survive the night ....

or

... he was poisoned and likely fatally ...

or

... he was lethally poisoned and likely to die

====

leaving me and my mother with him

This is correct English, but people who speak as 'properly' as Xan would say 'leaving my mother and me with him', or better 'leaving him with my mother and me', or , 'leaving him with my mother and myself'.  I like 'leaving the three of us alone together' even more, though.

====
Xan wonderers if his love is poisonous, but I blame Irenicus

I wish my arms could ascertain you of this

'ascertain' hasn't meant 'to make certain' for about 500 years. :)  These days it just means 'to find out' as in 'ascertaining the truth'

I wish my arms could guarantee you this ?
I wish my arms could reassure you of this?

Oh, and by the way, I know you wrote somewhere that you considered staying up all night to play the mod the most sincere form of flattery, but how do you rank 'getting up at 0400 to play the mod before breakfast and life's duties?'

Not a nightowl, but was up at 0400 again,

Oh dear. I think I was only up at 4 am(my personal time) when I was in New England.

Thank you for the reports. Great to have typos and stuff in one place, too.

elven wedding customs:

...The ceremony begins on the night of the full moon, lasting three days after the night of the crescent moon....

lasting _until_ three days after the night of the crescent moon?  I don't know how long days and months are
in the realms, but guessing 'roughly the same as ours' (which is a pretty big assumption :) ) and using this
chart http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_phases_calendar.phtml you get 12-13 days of ceremony.
If, instead the ceremony lasts for three days, (and the moon goes through its phases faster in the Realms
than on earth) you could have

...The ceremony begins on the night of the full moon, lasting three days, and ending on the night of the
(waning) crescent moon ...

----------

Days before the wedding  --> The days before the wedding

Elven wedding customs continued:

...These trees are rumored to live as long as the couple stays married.  In our case it will not live long, as one or both of us - no, do not look at me like this - I will say it anyway, will die very soon.

There are three problems with this sentence.  1.  What happens to the trees when an elven couple separates, or when
one member dies, is not a matter for rumor.  So ....

These trees are known to live only as long as the couple stays married.

The second problem is grammatical.  'it' in 'it will not live long' should refer to the couple, not the tree, and since Xan is talking about something which he believes can never happen, you want 'would' not 'will' in this sentence.

The third problem, at least as I see it, is that dying doesn't make elves stop being married to each other.  Far from
it -- they expect to be reunited with their loved ones after death.  So replace with

These trees are known to live so long as the marriage.  But they sicken and die overnight should the bond between
the couple ever be sundered.  So perhaps it is a good thing that we cannot marry.  Our poor tree would not have  lived
very long, as one or both of us -- no, do not look at me like this, I will say it anyway -- will die very soon.

....

At this point I want the conversational option to question Xan about our bond.  Did we do the wrong thing to make it,
privately, in the Cloudpeaks rather than in a public ceremony?  Or are these ceremonies just to formalise things that
have already happened between a couple?

same talk as leads to elven marriage customs:

but we are doomed to become a rare exception --> but we are doomed to be a rare exception

(No 'becoming' necessary.  They're _already_ stuck with each other.)

... A pity that.  I'd like us to follow different paths for a while. ....

That's a lot harsher than what I would like to say -- which is

...A pity that.  I'd like us to be able to follow different paths for a while. ....

The former sounds like I am already tired of Xan's company, and wish we could go on separate vacations, when I have just managed to get him back. :)

...It is peculiar how our love transcended for the past year ....

I am not sure what you are trying to say here.  But 'transcending' is generally a think that happens, once, at a particular moment in time, and thus cannot have a duration, especially one as long as a year.

It is peculiar how our love developed over the past year.  When I think of the day I met you, it seems like it happened in a different universe ??

But then it sounds to me as if he is complaining that his lovedid not so much develop as 'burst upon the scene'.
(If that is the case, he has my deepest sympathies.  That sort of devestating love is very frightening, especially if one was not in any way looking for love at the time.)

So ...
Falling in love with you was a transcendent moment for me.  When I think of the day I met you, it seems like it happened in a different universe ??

=====
Note: purists would demand that Xan say 'it seems as if it happened in a different universe'.  But this is the sort of
grammatical error that is very common, even among native speakers.  These days it is more like a class marker than
anything else, I think.
=====
So much has passed but the memory stands clearly in my mind

So much _time_ has passed?

So much has _happened_?

Xan remembering their first meeting.

It was not, it was a frightening feeling.
I am an Enchanter, and being in full control of my emotions is essential for my art.  Even if I did not avoid female company before meeting you, I would never allow myself to fall so completely, so utterly.

I am not sure what you mean here.  Did Xan avoid female company? completely? some? or not at all?

Even though I did not avoid female company before meeting you, I would never allow myself to fall so completely, so
utterly.  (This is a Xan who didn't avoid women, but was never serious about anybody, either.)

or do you mean

Even if I had not decided to avoid female company, I knew that I would never, must never allow myself to fall so completely, so utterly ... (This is Xan who avoids women, but who speculated that had he ever got around to
meeting any, he would still have full control of his emotions).

:)

Poor Lucky Xan :)

I've made some additions to the note about Xan's discussion about the night his father died on the grounds of 'keeping the notes on the same LT together' even though it means that there is new material injected into the middle of the thread.
Hope this is all right with you.  I can just make new threads if that is what you prefer.

Xan wants intimacy in a dungeon :)

I wonder if you will change your mind tomorrow, but I will do my best to make sure you do not ....

.... this sounds like Xan is worried that I will change my mind about him being attractive tomorrow.  Did you mean

'I wonder if you will regret doing this tomorrow' instead?  (He's an enchanter, and I am having enough problems with his insecurities to find out that he needlessly worries about his own looks, as well.  It's one of the few things I ought to be able to count on him being secure about, given that exceptional charisma is a requirement for the job.)

Xan has just found his own robe  offered for sale in Trademeet

... I will probably die tomorrow and never notice, but still, I would like it back, if you please ...

(This sounds like he will not notice that he is dying)

... I will probably die tomorrow, and it makes little difference whether I perish with my robe or without, but I would like it back all the same, if you please ...

or

... I will probably die tomorrow, and a dead Enchanter has no need for a robe, but I would like it back nonetheless,  if you please

==========

If you don't buy the robe for Xan, I think he should sigh, or complain or something rather than accept it stoically.

And if he is already wearing the Robe of Vecna (or, as Item Revisions would have it, the Robe of Larloch) I think you should get a conversational option when offered the robe -- "Xan, we've already got you a much nicer robe.  What do you want with this old thing? Sentiment?"

=============

And then 'he has doubts that he will be allowed to wear it'

I think he is having doubts 'that he will be allowed to wear it for long'

Otherwise, it is more of 'Let me try it on.  Good.  I had my doubts that I would be allowed to wear it' (but this implies that constant association with me might be changing Xan's alignment.  Which, given the number of assassinations I
performed last week, might be a legitimate thing for Xan to worry about. :-) )

or

I will probably die tomorrow, before I have a chance to become properly reacquainted with my robe, but I would like it back, all the same, if you please

or maybe

... I will probably die tomorrow, before it has a chance to do me much good, but I would like it back nonetheless,  if you please

Eldreth Veluuthra has done some good to our people  --> some good for our people

to choke our communities you work ceaselessly against them

('them' refers back to communities, not to humans, so this reads as if Eldreth Veluuthra works against elven communities, and for some reason Xan thinks this is a good thing.)

to choke our communities you work ceaselessly to preserve them ??

When you upgrade Xan's Moonblade the new description reads:

not usable by: druid cleric mage thief fighter bard

but that's not correct.  Not usable by: anybody but Xan

was better.  (How will this work with Level1npc if Nythrun ever gets back?  Xan the cleric gets a moonmace?)

what does it mean to be a moonbloade wielder?

....Threescore of these blades were forged, long before Myth Drannor was even found

... if Myth Drannor was in some way lost or missing and needed to be found by elves ..., then this sentence is
correct.  But I think you mean 'found' as in to build or to create from the start.

I -- in the present  -- find a lost city.  Somebody else, in his present, found it.

Last week, I found the lost city.  But several centuries ago, he founded it.

In that case you need .... long before Myth Drannor was even founded.

Because the same word 'found' is either the past tense of find or the present tense of 'found' and
what i think you want is the past tense of 'found' which is  founded.

it is actually worse than having the description read something other than 'anybody but Xan'.  Other
people can actually wield his moonblade.

Xan and I are in the Underdark, talking about how hard it is to be a drow.

But, irate or no, both of us killed  --> both of us have killed / each of us has killed
much more --> many more

I think that 'vicious or not' reads better than 'irate or no', because it is not that the Drow are prone to anger that makes them kill things but that they are both deparaved and cruel.

Hmm. I don't add anything like this to the mod, but on the other hand, I *think* I've heard it before.

1) Reload? It's probably a random glitch - his circle didn't turn green.

2) Or it can be your installation. Please, post the contents of your Weidu.log here.
But: If you're using a mega-mod(Big World Project) installation, your best bet is Mega-Mod Help forum at shsforums.net .

he walks too close behind you --> too closely behind you
and his soft, hot breath momentarily singes your skin

Unless Xan has been playing with potions of firebreath, he's not going to be able to singe my skin.  And should he actually do that, I wouldn't shudder, but scream and draw my sword. :)

But I think there is an English expression which is more of what you want

'his soft hot breath gives you goosebumps'

though maybe

'his soft , hot breath makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up'  (which you say even when your
hairs do not actually rise)

is better.  I am a poor judge of this, in that I personally hate the word 'goosebumps' and would rip it out of the language if I could.  But I know that's me. :)

I set everything aside to help you regain your soul at the cost of my life, if needs be.  But I chose not to act on these feelings after your ... change, and I will do so.

The tense in this is wrong.  The following works.  Also, 'if need be' not 'if needs be'.

--> I have set everything aside to help you regain your soul, even at the cost of my life, if need be.  But <I have chosen || I have also chosen> not to act on these feelings and I  <will not do so || will continue to not do so>.

but this also works

--> But I choose not to act on these feelings after your change.  (and delete the rest)

The first talks about a decision made, which Xan is sticking with.  But the second implies that for Xan it continues to be a struggle to not act on those feelings -- something he has to choose again and again every waking moment (including this one).

Hello,

You had the same problem with Romantic Encounters, right? It means your install probably got corrupted, or you're using it wrong.

Go to http://www.pocketplane.net/xan , download the latest version via a download plugin(something like Flashget from http://flashget.com/ , or use Opera/Firefox internet browsers). When your download is complete, go inside the .zip file, click on the .exe file twice and start installing. Everything should be all right then.

It wasn't the download, is that i unpacked Xan_v8.exe with 7-zip (i tried many times) and 7-zip is ending up corrupting files , with simple double click on Xan_v8.exe it was a complete unpack. ;D

Exactly... And if you are going to use the mod in the BWP, you need to direct the Xan_v8.exe to an directory that doesn't have the dialog.tlk(the game directory), this will effectively not install the mod, but just unpacks the files. Or, if you have to unpack the files to the folder that has the dialog.tlk, just push Q to quit the WeiDU program, before it installs any of the files.

I'm not sure if this is a Xan problem or not, but:

After completing the elven father-son Xan quest, I received the 1st Mae'Var task to get Ada's amulet. I crept into her room at night, and there were two copies of Ada. One sleeping, one awake. Could this be a result of the previously mentioned quest? I was thinking either Xan or one of the shadow thieves related mods is the culprit.

If you're interested, Xan's mod does the following: adds the quest elf into Talos's temple(back rooms). That's all. while It takes care to be compatible with other mods, too.

Ada's encounter from Romantic Encounters mod might affect it - IF you had it. If not, then RE has nothing to do with it. In any case, it's nothing serious, I believe.

Are there not dialogue lines added to Ada? I thought that was part of the quest.

Dialogue lines, sure, but you're talking about two Adas, and this can only be done through area script.

The Xan mod just caused an inexplicable crash for me upon entering the Council of Six building in the Government District.  I'd just picked up Xan (and Jan) and was going inside to purchase a license and talk to Tolgerias.  Within 4-5 seconds of entering, the game gave me an error bleep and crashed to the desktop (where I had to manually shut it down).  I figured out it was the Xan mod after I uninstalled all my newest mods one by one and the game didn't crash after Xan was gone.

Is Xan supposed to do or say something when I enter this building, and perhaps a script is broken?  I downloaded it from the main pocketplane.net mirror and all the files seem to be intact.  The crash seems to coincide with when Tolgerias's "smarter mages" script from Tactics kicks in and his spell protections appear on him, but I don't know if it's related.

Here's my weidu.log from before when I uninstalled the mods.

*sigh*  In this case I'm very grateful to have been wrong.  It wasn't the Xan mod at all, but the very Tactics component that I mentioned earlier.  The Smarter Mages and Liches component of Tactics has always worked reasonably well before, but it did cause the occasional random problem with Tolgerias.  In my prior mod configuration, it would sometimes double up his automatic protections OR turn him invisible with Spell Immunity from Divination so that it was impossible to talk to him, but it didn't start crashing the game until recently.

I uninstalled the Smarter Mages and Liches component of Tactics, and intend to reinstall Xan as soon as I'm able.  Should this bug be reported in the Weimer section of this forum?

Hello,

Glad you found the error. Yes, I guess sooner or later someone will release an updated version of Tactics, so it's always worth reporting.

(And, no, Xan mod doesn't affect the area in question; I do not modify Council of Six building in Xan).

And good luck to you! Crashes are unpleasant, and I should know, having tested Xan and other mods numerous times. :) I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the game.

Yes, I'm enjoying it so far.  I made Xan a wild mage so I could take advantage of the Wild Mage mod I have installed, that is, as soon as I beat the stuffing out of Rhilato the Marvelous.

I did find a genuine bug though.  I was reading over this topic and I heard that Xan apparently has some funny interjections with Korgan.  So I put Korgan in my party and hit Ctrl+I to hear the first three of their conversations.  Either I did something wrong when I installed the mod, or Xan's speech files are mixed up.

The interjection where Korgan starts, "Ye know, ye and I are nay so different."
And Xan replies, "Indeed?  I cannot imagine what I have in common with a bloodthirsty dwarf."

Uses the speech file that was meant for a different interjection, where Korgan starts, "That's been a grand fight, eh mage?"
And Xan replies, "Mayhap we'll live for some time, yet.  Though I doubt it."

And vice versa.  Are the files mislabeled?  It's not a major problem, just a nitpick.
