Title: IWD2NPC Collaboration?
Post by: gertjanvh on February 05, 2008, 05:45:45 PM
Hi,

I read the announcement, and the first thought that entered my mind was; "Hey, this has been done before."
Isn't it a possible to collaborate with Domi on this project? And couldn't you use some resources and backstory that she established in IWDII in your mod for consistency, even with the substatial time difference set between IWD and IWDII?
Because to me it sounds like a brilliant way to provide a sence of a saga and overlap between the two.

Other than that, nice to see added depth to IWD :)

*I'd* like it if there was some form of continuity. I'm not sure how that'd happen.. but it'd be nifty :)

Personally, I would be worried that PPG would be sanctioned under the terms of the 2003 Treaty of Minsc. (Among the treaty's many terms and stipulations, it limits the number of crazy Russian modders involved with any single mod to one.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that IWD came before IWD2 chronologically...

I'd replace it with "any single community". :) Though when I was submitting stuff to BG1 NPC Project before Domi switched to other things, it was fairly nice and quiet. I guess it has something with this "I trust her judgement and authority" thingy... but, okay, okay, you're right. Yes, as it is, PPG, G3, Studios and BWL each have one Loose Cannon Factor female Russian modder, and we don't want things demolished, surely?

Seriously, these are very different stories, and these are two different parties: you will see when you have played both games with these characters. As for the canon, IWD2 narrator mentions that IWD2 party is a different one, came to Targos XX years later.

I'll make sure nobody of IWD NPCs doesn't grab the Severed Hand, though, since it's so obviously Diriel's. :) Kidding.

Just my own opinion here, despite my fondness for the IWD2 NPC mod, I would much rather prefer to see this project as completely separate and unique from another mod.

However, once someone hits me up for a "BG Girls Gone Wild" extension to the Sarah and Chloe mods, I may change my opinion. ;)

My last party was actually a GGW: Female NPC / Sarah / Chloe / Imoen / Nalia / Auren. On top of that, you can also add Square + Imoen Romance + Multiple romances to dishinibit (more) the ladies and enable orgies  ;)

EDIT: and to be through, Arnel's Player / Nalia romances, hacked to be bi-sexual (not Jason's/Kulyok's, because SPOILER in Arnel's they have sex from day one).

Sounds...entertaining.  :D

On a serious note, yes, please keep IWD npc as something unique and not a prequel/sequel to another mod.

It is unique, yes. Though I guess without IWD2 NPC Project I'd never dare start such a massive/different undertaking, so thanks are owed to Domi in any case.

(And then again, without Domi I'd never have been able to start modding - see Xan BG2 Readme).
