Today I visited the Sriracha Tiger Zoo, here in Thailand (I'm on holiday, btw...) and thought I'd share this little moment with everyone:

Careful, there's a tiger behind you!
-
Heh, well spotted.
-
Or striped, as the case may be ;D
-
how adorable !!
-
That's 5 awws out of 5, right there.
-
I see that and I say "My God, that's a creature on her lap which could kill her with a single blow if it has a momentary lapse."
Yes, I know they're raised like that, and are highly domesticated, and whatnot... but anybody who's had a housecat as a pet for an appreciable length of time has surely seen them at least _once_ have a moment of reversion to feral state, when the friend-or-foe system goes out the window and they're ready to take a chunk out of you. When your housecat does it, you get a nasty gash. When a tiger does it, you DIE.
(it's cute aside from that, though.)
-
That one's only a baby though. Not really big enough to kill anything human-sized yet. I'm certain his keepers will be considerably more careful once he's weaned.

So cute! :)
-
Very nice! :) I'm envious.
It looks like they have very big paws (and probably claws) even at that age.
-
i just showed this to my husband and he says he is so jealous he could spit ! he loves animals.

Aww, kitty!

Heh, yeah, their paws are massive. Thankfully I didn't see any claws :)

I've been dying to do that for ages ;D Of course, the zoo doesn't just have tigers. I also got to cuddle a 7 foot python, 3 iguanas, a baby orangutan, a wallaby and a spotted deer fawn. I did quite well there :P
-
Do they allow everyone who wants to to cuddle their animals or did you have a "special permit"?
-
Anyone can do it :)
-
I once went to a sideshow which promised to have all sorts of rare beasts, chimeras, sirens, politicians who kept their promises, businessmen who cared and they all were said to be available for petting. Sadly the queue was to long.

Cute tiger.

it really is like being in the company of something extraordinary. they smell good, in the way truffles smell good. thanks for provoking the memory.
