Title: Torment in Higher Res?
Post by: zipR on March 08, 2006, 12:53:02 PM
I know nothing about programming or what mods the infinity engine is capable of.  I'm sure this question has been asked before, but is there any possible way of modding Planescape:Torment to use higher resolutions?  I'm playing it now for the first time and think it's pretty cool, but the low resolution is really distracting -- especially for a game with so much text that constantly gets interrupted due to the small text windows.

I suppose it probably would require getting a peek at the source code, I'd imagine.  I wonder who may have that, given that Black Isle is gone.  Perhaps one of the programmers?

Torment is a tremendous pain in the ass from a technology standpoint all around. GemRB is probably the best hope to ever be able to do something outside the bounds of 640x480 with it, although having it look pretty would require someone to do new interface graphics.

Which isn't impossible.
Some people already modded the existing game interfaces, albeit GemRB is a bit more flexible.
