Aldeth Sashenstar [cant] open the door to Merchant League building

When it happened to me in 1.02 that Aldeth cant open the door i thought twas a local bug because of by bizzare patches. So i peeked into scripts and dialogs and AR1100.ARE and found out that the door is locked, and the key is MAGE04.ITM. I fixed it locally and assigned the ring to Aldeth 'stead one of his RNDTRE or something.

Now i have clean install with tosc/official patch/baldurdash and fotd. Everything seems to be in order but he still cant open the damn door' cause he still hasnt got a key. Figured that out with CLUAing into AR1100, setting globals and some NI-ing again.

This bug hasnt been reported for some time and 1.03 readme has no mention of it.

I wonder if my game is broken, or nobody played to that point, or nobody bothers to report.

Also i made a comment on this issue in BG1UB Unused Items thread.

Smb please tell me if i'm very wrong here.

It is not your game that is broken, it is a bug in the mod which I may have overlooked earlier. As you have discovered, the problem is that Aldeth does not have MAGE04.ITM. I removed it because MAGE01-06.ITM are rings that add a spell to the wearer with infinite durations and I consider them cheating. To fix the problem locally, here is what you should do. Talk to Aldeth as you would normally to set the correct globals. After he has gone to the door and disappeared, use CLUAConsole:CreateItem("MAGE04",1) and open the door yourself. If Aldeth is not present on the 2nd floor, use CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("ALDETH") to make sure he is.

Thanks, i guess.
Maybe give him "the key" back, huh? Or give him brand-new key that is a key and is perfectly droppable and stealable, though i'm not sure how the League guards would react when total strangers enter w/o invitation.
