Title: Introductions
Post by: icelus on April 03, 2004, 10:47:22 PM
Many of us already know each other, but many others are new.  Feel free to use this thread to post a little something about yourself to share with the world.

Please try to limit it to introductions only, however.  Feel free to welcome new members, but do it via Private Messages.  Otherwise, this thread will turn into 20 pages in no time.  ;)

Well, as you probably know, I'm Barren. Player, amateur modder, evil insane overlord (part-time only). Used to be part of the UB team, now working on Anishai. Most active at Interplay and Ashford City.

Well, you've probably all noticed me lurking about from time to time, so I suppose I'm not as much of a n00b as some.  Come to think of it though, I don't think any of you know my name.  Kerazee.

Hi my name is jester......and I surf. :(

Of vaguely humanoid form, I am old enough to qualify as two members and most of you who don't know me prob never will anyway. I am here to avoid hassle in general and work in particular so don't pin me down on any project apart from casual translation perhaps....and that takes ages. ;) Having no particular story of my own to tell I am drawn to introduction threads like the provebial moth to Ctr+C this story.

Hello,

I'm currently not working on a Haer'Dalis romance mod over at The Gibberlings Three (http://forums.camagna.net/), and I'm also not helping Icelus with a couple of related quests for UB.

To keep the negative thing going; I don't like the smileys you've got here, so you'll have to figure out for yourselves when I'm serious and when I'm not (hint: I'm not). I also don't like scrolling text and wouldn't mind at all if the person who invented the "move" tag was forced to spend the rest of his days looking at the result of his creation.

Nice to meet you all.

Well, if things get out of hand with moving text, I won't hesitate to go on a post-editing/locking rampage.  That's just the type of reckless, inconsiderate loudmouth that I am.

Howdy!

Will be 40 this year.  Live in Indiana - southern part - notice the Howdy.  Share the place with 3 cats, 6 German Shepherds, and a husband.

Played PnP D&D and have taken up computer version now.  Made it through BG1, Soa,Tob, Icewind Dale 1 & 2.  Active here and at Interplay's board.  Lurk on a bunch of others.

Most interested in UB at the moment although the Delainy mod and the Tiefling Sisters look right up my alley.

Greetings all, I'm another lurker who finally got up enough nerve to register and show myself. Though I may not post much, I'll be around often enough, mostly to see how the mods are coming along and how everyone is doing.

Oh, and for useless info about myself, I'm from Tennessee  :P

Well, I guess this means it's my turn.

I'm Bev (well, duh) and I live in Misery...er Missouri.  I'm old enough not only to remember when computers took up an entire room, but also a time when there were no computers. *gasp*

I like playing games and it was my oldest daughter that got me started on computer rpgs.  I'm a big fan of the Wizardry series as well as BG.

My hobbies are counted cross stitch and just about any other craft.  We have 2 dogs and 1 daughter (we have 3 daughters) currently living at home.

I am now involved in the creation of Keli - one of the Tiefling Sisters (shameless plug coming:  see link below).

I've been lurking around these boards for a year or so now, though I haven't said alot.

I've so far enjoyed: Dungeon Begone, Kelsey, Flirt Packs, and really egarly awaiting the Nalia Romance.

I haven't really  done anyl mod making but I am trying my hand at it with all the documention on here. Though it seem somone already has started a mod with a similar idea, but I'm going to try anyway.

I've introduced myself before but I'll reintroduce myself. Name's Melissa and I live right smack dab in the Middle of Nowhere. I like playing the piano, anime, giving hugs and coloring books. I put the fun in dysfunctional. It would be nice to create my own mod but I have very little motivation as it is and what motivation I do have needs to be spent on college at the moment. I'm working at the library at my college. I basically get paid to sit on my ass. I'm 19 but I've never gotten past the age of twelve.

Well, I'll introduce myself, as I'm trying to post more and lurk less.
Hi, I'm elfheart, I'm 16 and I reside in Wisconsin with my family of two parents and three siblings. I have no plans (or any idea how) to make mods, but maybe some day. I started playing Kelsey (and other mods) about a year ago and have not had a 'clean' install of BG2 since. I like to see what new mods are being developed, play them, and mix them - causing mayhem and woe. I always manage to get things back in order, though. <caution> When I post, I tend to either ramble or write very little. </caution>

Hello, my name is Melisah and I'm a neutral good, half elf ranger looking for romance. :-*  I have dark hair, dark eyes and have been told I have an a** so beautiful, it's a shame I have to sit down on it.  (Oh that Coran, he was such a charmer.)  Anyway, I have had a few romances in the past but my first boyfriend went on to become a paladin for the royal order of Helm (after I  talked him out of killing an entire family, what a looser) and my second boyfriend was stolen by my slut of a little sister.  But you know what, it's all good.  They now live in the Promenade of Athkatla where he sells his little charisma potions.  It's a good thing too because my sister put on like 50 pounds after she had a kid and she can use all the help she can get.  I on the other hand still wiegh the same as I did when I graduated from Candlekeep High.  My friend Jaihera always said that karma would come back and bite my sister in the backside, and boy, did it ever!

Anyway, I'm looking for an advernturing man who knows how to light a campfire and keep it lit of you know what I mean.  He needs to be human, elf or half-elf, preferably tall and he also needs to know how to take orders.  No one but me leads my group and it's best if he keeps this in mind.  I also prefere men with good or neutral allignments.  I don't want some evil bastard coming in and trying to take over my group (man that is so annoying).  Also, he must be really proficiant with an arrow, sword or staff. ;)

If there is anyone interested, just drop me a line at

Hi,

My name's david, I'm 48 years old, live in Hampshire in the UK and am currently working through Ghreyfain's "Making an NPC Tutorial". I am doing this very slowly, about as slowly as I play the game. I usually correspond at planet baldurs gate in the SOA & TOB forums.

Currently have the flirt & banterpacks installed, together with 'Unfinished Business'

Errr...  Well..  ::deep breath::

Hello I'm Kate, just like it says in my name.  I'm 18 at the current moment, though I will be 19 in about two weeks.  Most of the regulars know me, or have at least seen me lurking around the forums here and there.  I do a bit of voice acting and banter writing; I a trying to learn modding, but it's proving difficult on my part lol.  I'm extremely shy about voicing my opinion, making a suggestion, or offering help; but I'm always more than willing to help  :D I'm here because Jason and the others left a trail of cookie crumbs from FWP and I thought I was going to find cookies; friekin' modders, lol j/k  ;)

;)

Well, here goes.

I'm a father of two living in North Carolina.  I'm in my 30's & work for a living as a network administrator.  When I'm not spending time with my wife, children, or computer I can usually be found in the gym, outdoors, or writing fiction.  I don't read nearly as many books as I used to and understand my own father much better these days.  My favorite food is chocolate but I have yet to find any here ... so I guess that I  *am* staying for the mods.

As far as BG goes I've played BG, ToSC, SoA, & ToB.  I've been around on the various boards in several incarnations since about mid-way though the development of SoA.  I've managed to try out a few mods, but still have a *ton* that I'm trying to get to.  So far my favorite PC has been my namesake, Rathwellin the Bard, a NG Half Elf Blade, the best written mod that I've tried has been Kelsey, &, to my shame, I have yet to master the final Ascension battle.

I am taking the first baby steps towards writing a mod of my own, but have quite a ways to go.

Hi.  I'm Mike.

I live in Canada.  I'm not going to say where, because you'll laugh at me :p.

I go to enjoy week and a half in beautiful Spain and when I came back everything is different.  :o Well, I've never introduced myself properly in any of the forums so I suppose now would be the appropriate time.

I'm 25 year old student from Helsinki, Finland; happily married to my lovely husband whom you might occasionally see under name of Darios bugging Ghreyfain or someone else in coding matters. I stumbled in the wonderful world of IE modding little less than a year ago when I came across the Dragonlance TC website. I lurked there for a while and found new IE modding forums inhabited by suspiciously familiar sounding nicks. :D Eventually I stayed for good.

Why does the rest of Canada hate Ontario? It's because we're the centre of Canada and the rest are jealous! Albertans are Americans in all but name so they don't count. :P

On the 'net I've been going by NiGHTMARE (or nb_nmare in places where nightmare is already taken) since mid 1996, but in real life the name's Nick Baker.  I'll be 23 in just under two months, I live in Hampshire, UK, and am currently unemployed (though not through lack of trying ;)).

At the moment I'm "working" on a mod to bring Kivan to BG2, but for the past several months this "work" has mostly consisted of me trying to figure out how to do various thingsn WeiDU, giving up, and not going back to it for weeks on end  :-[.  I *will* force myself to just sit down and learn the darned thing some day soon though, especially as I'll really need to for the next BG2 mod I'll be working on.  Can't let poor Andyr do all the work... :P

I've also been making a 2-part Doom add-on for almost 8 years (on & off, mostly off), and the levels for it are *finally* coming up to a completely finished state :).  If you're interested, go here (http://www.wadsinprogress.info/?a=listwads&wad=44) for some screenshots of part 1.

I have been with the old FWP site for  awhile and it’s about time I introduced myself.
My name is Moinesse which is one of four names, and not used very often.  I am a veteran of the United States Armed Forces.  I own and operate several business which keeps me away from home a lot with no time to learn modding.
My favorite past time is not game playing but dancing.  I have danced on stage as well as off in many different functions.  My Motto is: I’m dancing my way through life.  If I stop I’ll cry.

Why do I play BG2?  In memory of a very small young boy, who loved the game, loved to teach me the game while sitting on my knee and bouncing with joy.  I wish I could give more towards the BG communities. What I do is so little, but the only thing I have time for.   It’s a wonderful group, with wonderful people.  I am happy to be here.  Thanks.

Hobbys: Tolkien, Baldur's Gate, music, other things
Favourite book: The Silmarillion
Favourite movies: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Current projects: beta tester for UB, am working on a mod that's supposed to make the Elves of Suldanessellar (and possibly a few others, too) speak Elvish. Work progressing incredibly slowly, though, due to innate lazyness...

Hmmm... why not, I'll introduce myself.

My name's Dave and I've been using the name Grim Squeaker for forums etc for quite a while now (although I use Phantom as a callsign in games coz Grim Squeaker isn't very menacing!).  I'm 18 and live in Hertfordshire, England when I'm not at uni (University of Edinburgh).  My photo is in the PPG gallery if you want to take a look...

My favourite books are probably Lord of the Rings and Anne Rice's Tale of the Body Thief.  Some of my favourite films are Empire Strikes Back, The Matrix, Terminator 2, Shawshank Redemption.  My favourite modern music includes stuff by Kane, Meat Loaf, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Cranberries, the Rat Pack, Queen and many more.  My favourite pieces of classical music include Barber's Adagio for Strings and Saint-Saëns Danse Macabre.

Modding wise I'm working on far too many projects.  Over at FW I have an NPC project called Harvey, who is in beta testing at the moment.  My other mods are at Gibberlings Three.  I'm the kind of incharge type personm coder and writer for some stuff for the Tiefling Sisters project with Dancer Fitz and BevH.  I'm the coder for the Viconia Relationship, which is being writen by Zandilar.  I have an ongoing project called Banter Packs: Part Deux, which is designed to add material between non-Bioware NPCs.  I also have another SEKRIT PROJEKT that will be revealed when its done...

I have completed two mini mods: sporeboy!'s Alternate Portrait Pack, which allows you to use sporeboy!'s fantastic portraits in your game of BG2.  I also created a Blonde Imoen mod, which basically does what it says...  I did also make an entry for the 2nd Iron modder competiton but its still not online coz its got big bugs in it...

Heya!

I wander from the part of Russia known as Finland. 25(ish) years has passed since I was spawned on this blue ball of ours and good deal of that time Ive been playing with electronic games. BG is my weak spot since I seem to gravitate to it on a regular basis. And BG2 is which lured me to lurk here.

On other entertainment I am somewhat of a movie freak, especially anything sci-fi related make my heart go boom. Same goes for literature, exception on that being Pratchett, the man is a genious.

So, heya to yall..

...me name's Jason; I hails from Nova Scotia (that be in Kanada, fer all the Americans out there)...I's a vet o' pretty-much e'ery version o' a BIS/IPLY/BIOweenian Board since '99/'00...thnx ta yer MODS & Weimer's Collection, I got back inta playin' SoA (I got tired o' the IWDs; ya can only play 'em soo much 'afore any game gits a wee bit old)...I wasna crazy 'bout SoA, although it had its good points (let's not e'en git inta Throne o' Bullshyte), but the amount o' quality MODS out there fer it (an' the utter lack o' IWD & PS:T mods) brought me back...PS:T is the best game e'er ta grace me HDD an', in me opinion, is the single greatest cRPG that's been released since PC gamin' started...I's highly opinionated an' always enjoy a good "discussion", as long as peoples come ta understand that, at the end o' the day, I was right in the first place...other than that, I's easy ta git along wit'... ;D

...oh, an' fer those jus' itchin' ta start the complainin' 'bout me choice o' "dialogue"; piss off, it's been done an' done better...there's always the ignore button... ;D

Hello all. I'm realtively new here, as you may have noticed. Drow by parentage.. presumably. But, as of now, in Human British female form. A sucker for Hammer horror house, role playing, and lord of the rings, both books and films, Buffy the vampire slayer, and rock music; mainly Led Zep, Queen, The pistols, the x-ray spex, the ramones. As of Gatesy opinions:
Favourite Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Race: Half elf
Class: Fighter/Mage
Favourite NPC's: Edwin.. might I request a romance  ;)?
Lest Favourite: Immy and Aerie. Can't stand the constant whining and rubbishy accents... I'm sure the spider pits of Lolth could devise exquisite torture for them.. :D And Valygar Corthala - with the portrait, I thought he might be pretty cool.. but the whole 'I'm glad you found meh whan you did, thish group dush good thangs.' Quickly tested my nerves.. Tolgerias...*ahem* I beleive a reward is in order..

I suppose that I should introduce myself to those that don't know me.   I am Cuv... that is short for Cuvieronius.  Which is short for Cuvieronius tropicus    .... it's a neotropical Gomphothere that inhabited North and Central American about 30,000 years ago ;)

I mod,  love making new areas for BG2/ToB.   Worked on Ascension, stay generally quiet most of the time.  Been working on RTW for the last (gasp!) three years  ???     I collect old dead things (fossils) ... lived in Texas the last 5 years, but back in California now.   I mostly lurk, but will speak up with help on modding or editing.

Hi my name is jester......and I surf. :(

... and I surf too... everyday unless its too blown out.

Yello...

I believe I am officially a 'caught lurker,' and everyone knows that when you catch a lurk creature, it's required to introduce itself and stop being shy.

So I'm Stoplight, although if you saw me on the street, Jessie would probably elicit a less confused look. You would see me on the street if you visited Washington state. As confessed over at the Chosen of Mystra board, (where I was caught, courtesy of Jcompton... should have seen my face turn red...) I am thoroughly intimidated by Pocket Plane, simply because of the incredible talent hovering around here. It makes me all goosebumpy. I'll get over it, though. Really. Truly. Not looking for shadows, honest.

75% of my hard drive is currently occupied with BG:SOA and modules, and the rest is full of my half-baked novels. I think that about covers it for now. ;-)

I guess i'll do this business.

I had actually posted a tiny bit on the old FW boards in December/January-ish but surely nothing anyone would remember. I won't explain my username except to say it was given to me by my friends. You can call me by it or Julie. Speaking of my friends, I have none who enjoy computer games. :'( I'll play pretty much anything except first person shooters as I suck at them. First electonic games I ever played, probably Duck Hunt, that first Mario game, and M.U.L.E. I still adore M.U.L.E. First computer game had something to do with the San Diego zoo. I plan to be a Director/Rockstar primarily with a side of Producer/Magazine Founder/Club Owner/Musicfest Chairman (the name of the festival is strictly confidential). We'll see how that goes. Anyway, Pirates are my favorite, and my aforementioned friends call me a pirate because i'm Irish. Ninjas are okay too. I'm from Montana (just like... nobody else) but I live in Texas. Alack, I am only 18 (until July 28!) Maybe one day i'll mod... :-X

Well I suppose it is only fitting that I make my first post here at the Pocket Plane on this thread...

I am Kristophe - which is actually the German version of my real name "Christopher"...I won't comment about "ageless gamers", other than to say I remember when there were no computers...and television was the newest technological marvel *chuckles*  And while I never played M.U.L.E., my first computer game was Zork - played on an old Apple (we won't mention my other favorite of that time period, "Leather Goddesses of Phobos").  Quite naturally, my absolute, all-time favorite genre of computer games is the RPG  :)

I'm a retired former Navyman, and living the hard life along the Outer Banks of NC - meaning I spend some little part of my time in or around the surf enjoying the summertime "beach scenery".  *chuckles again*  I also surf around the internet a bit - always on the lookout for new and interesting items to write about (oh - I rather guess I forgot to mention I spend some of my time as an online Gaming Reporter/Editor).  BTW - I've been having the pleasure of playing many of your completed mods (and the ssoundsets, NPC flirt & banter packs, etc)...and am looking forward to playing some of the projusect presently in their respective working stages...I'd also volunteer to help out the ladies Kismet & St. Josephine with their search for a Male Actor - but I am afraid I have no ancestors that were, in any way/shape/or form...an Elf!!

Hey y'all --

Real name's Russ, a freelance journalist based in North Carolina. Also a recovering Powergamer, long time lurker who finally decided to show himself today.

Kelsey was my first mod, and with so many subsequnt mods my BG2 folder takes up an obscene amount of space; I've learned enough modding to tweak my own games, and once I commit to learning how to write dialouge I'll try making a few of my own. For now, I'm in the research stage, determined to make druids kick as much ass as I know they can, and establish that the Druid Grove's a cool place to hang after all.

I mainly write about regional music and the health care industry (I'm a gemini -- I have no other defense); before that, I used to be a pretty damn good tenor before ciggies and stress took their merciless toll. My dad comes from tobacco fields, my mom from a SC-based plantation, and I spent some time in England singing when I was younger (25 now), which turned my vocabulary (not my accent) into this strange Southern American-Anglophile hybrid and the reason no one knows where I'm from when I'm on message boards.

Aside from this, I spend most of my time writing, check out modding sites when I'm waiting for phone calls, and squeeze in working out, meditating and paying the bills somewhere in between.

It's nice to be here.

Hello, everyone!

I am Lyn, the (somewhat new) lurker. I lurk. It's fun.

And, once in a while, I actually get up the nerve to post something.

I don't think I have actually managed to post anything yet. Ah, well. Better finish this quickly, before I lose the nerve.

Anyway. I'm somewhat new to the whole world of BG2 mods - I only learned what they were about eight months ago. And I've been playing the BG series for... *thinks hard* Possibly two years?

So yeah. I'm new. Meaning, I haven't managed to get past Chapter 4 in a non-cheating game - if only because I don't have the patience for it.

But anyway. I think I'll return to lurking, obsessing over Kelsey, and playing Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.

I am mostly lurking around here, since I just don't have time to be active on all of the boards...

My RL name is Johanna, I live in Finland and am 35 y/o. I have played RPG since I was 20, and I wish I had had knowledge of them earlier, since I would have had more fun as teenager if I had been able to play them at that time ;)

I too remember the time before computers, and when the television was black&white (or different shades of gray). I had my first computer about 6-7 years ago, and first computer game about 5 years ago (it was Riven btw) - though there was some games with the first Mac, like Descent 1 and Full Throttle... yesh. I use MacIntosh instead of PC, and since it is harder to get decent games for Macs, I don't have that many of them.

When I am not sitting at my computer, I am either sleeping ;D or taking care of my five dogs and occasional other animals that inhabit our household. I also have a husband, whom I have managed to transfer into a soon to become modder, I think... Oh and I have an npc mod for BGII under development, don't expect it to be published soon, though.

Short summary, just a blue collar worker from the U S of A who's been playing video games since the Atari 2600, boozin' it up since I was 21 (ok... maybe 16), and jammin' to heavy metal for as long as I can remember.

Don't really have any favorite movies or TV shows or anything like that.  Usually if I seen it once, that was enough.  Favorite books are... uh.... let me get back to you on that one.  My favortie video game would have to be Vice City.  I still find that being able to pull off a heist and having the fuzz beatin' down on your tail while you escape in a golf caddy is hilarious.

I just re-installed BG2 now after a year or so and was amazed to find that the game is still going strong.  Plus, I couldn't pass up giving it another try with the addition of Unfinished Business.

Owned by 5 cats, have a life thanks (I recently read another thread).  I'd like to be of help on this forum, only I'm not sure what I can contribute - ever need proof readers????

I'm also old enough to remember when computers took up a whole room and RPG's were text only.

My real names Andrew, and I'm from New York.  I'm 16, barely old enough to remember not having a pc in my room, let alone them being the size of it, though due to some weird time-warp i was old enough to have played nes although no-one i know my own age was.
My hobbies include playing videogames (duh), (badly) playing guitar, swimming, modding, getting rejected by the oppisite sex (women) and doing things that would completely humilate anyone else in public.  I try to act like a modder but I don't have anything released,  I'm working on the darkelves mod at com and just figured out wiedu, although my other team member has thought i knew it the whole project.  My other qualities include insomnia and manic depression.

Post by: Janneia on September 19, 2004, 03:16:29 AM
Oops! Didn't realise there was a thread like this...

Hi, I'm Janneia, an Australian, I'm hardly on the Internet, due to my obsession with video games, mainly RPGs (I suck at driving ones, always crashing when turning and then in reverse) and books -- and rereading them countless of times, having just about exhausted my school library's fiction section in the last few years -- love the BG books! Love to draw, currently working on a manga and its subsequent anime at the same time...

Like to program things although I'm pretty bad at it...I still haven't figured out how to put a name to an NPC -- it shows in NI but doesn't in the game and I've given up on trying to create an NPC for BG. I don't understand WeiDU, every time I try to do something, something else happens and I get all frustrated so now I'll just d/l the ones other people make and play them =)

Also have the VERY annoying habit of writing posts that are at essay length. Currently restraining myself. Give me a month or two and I'll start writing really long ones...

greets'n'salutes.  sure enough i dove in with a head full of hard-wired sleep-dep and MegaTea [try to stick with two shots per mug], so i've already made an ass of myself here at least once today.  this might be my last chance to set a new record before the whiskey puts me to sleep.  (and this won't be my regular modus operandi - it's always like this *just* before i get a job...)

male, 31 (not for much longer, being a scorpion, but i pass for young twenties when i'm cleaned up - the rest of the time i look like a cross between kurt and some amish guy), what else can i say?  189cm, close to 14 stone.  oh, right.  mildly overeducated in the grand american scale of things.  good singing and speaking voice, though not much of an orator unless i have something written.  (yes, that's me volunteering for long-distance [i'm assuming] mod-talent work.  i looked like this in february: http://brightgirl.net/janusz.html  but i might do a convincing elf when clean-shaven with my scalp grown out - and since my roommate (who took those) has set up a studio in this very house - well, enough shilling.  i'll be more coherent next time the subject comes up anyway.

more importantly, my new ambition [partially fueled by my roommate's notion of getting me a tester job at monolith] is to throw myself into an iron modder session in less than a year.  first i have to finish putting a skirt on the front porch.  but before that i have to try out these delectable-looking/sounding mods that i stumbled across through the works of dan simpson and the mighty w.weimer.

oh yeah.  games.  i remember my best friend bringing his dad's apple ii (no plus, no c, no e, just ii) to 4th grade show and tell.  playing their excuse for pac man on their excuse for a joystick.  and the 2600, and the vic20 (my first) and c64 (which had everything at the time)...  traded most of my gi joes for all of a neighbors ad&d library... playing castle wolfenstein when doom wasn't even a twinkle in the *war* department's eye, let alone the zork and ultima ridden world of not-strictly-hand-eye-action games.  speaking of ultima, we made it from iii to v before we all started getting PCs.  then BBSing.  then chipping away at a 4yr degree for 12 years.  now back home in seattle after 8yrs and a million worlds away in olympia (and a bit in portlandOR).  that's even sillier than it sounds, actually; when pan american was still breathing, my stepmother flew me to the family in australia almost every year.  anyone notice how the bruce willis icon was taken by an aussie and a kiwi?  i would've too, if he was properly shaved and lost the shades...  i mean kurt isn't my hero, but he did do some good work for a little while.  so i'm a music freak [with the exception of cannibal corpse's end of their spectrum, and most 'young country' pap, and the more hopelessly recycled r&b shenanigans].  not as much of a movie freak anymore, but still ahead on most lists. {lately it's all about wes anderson, richard kelly and zach braff}.  theatre is "my bag" if you will.  twelve years of acting, with a few instances of [hesitant] direction and choreography thrown in.  but now i'm seriously considering picking up where i left off in late '96, the next-to-last time i diverted from my theatrical studies, took "data to information", and completely lost interest in discrete math and java simultaneously after only a month (but still aced digital logic).  i'm considering getting a thorough grounding in linux too, since one of my longest-standing friends was #2 at redhat, and in '95 i mutually-befriended a noble bostonian who is now a security muckymuck at amazon.

so yeah, mostly it's the games.  the longer and more involved the better.  for which you are to be hugely blessed, crafting depth and vision where yesterday there was only a glimmer of false accomplishment!  (not to speak ill of any designers, to be sure...)
my shame in that department is having spent so many permutations and micro-managements with the beegees, ultimas, xcoms, *crafts, that i've barely touched nwn and haven't even seen the Temple (the first module i ever paid money for).
still trying to slog through both IWDs.  hell, i've only really finished bg1 and soa thrice apiece.  my unattached wizard slayer and undead hunter campaigns are sitting halfway through their final battles (or perhaps two fifths?) because i got the cold sweats worrying about whether the final animation would really be a payoff.  i'm frankly more addicted to the creation and procedural processes than Finding Out What Happens At The End.  which is why i figure i'll end up becoming some kind of monstrous mongrel modder.  (although that might not be so great for a prospective game tester... hmmm...)

i'm gathering that there are a few texans-or-thereabouters in the upper echelons here?  might be another excuse to visit my ex in houston...  as long as i don't have to go anywhere near dallas.  i've had an aversion to dallas county ever since i saw errol morris' "the thin blue line".

  breathe!  breathe!

Erm, hi.  :)

I just registered here, but I've been lurking around here for months.
I'm 15 year's old, live in Finland and have a hate-hate relationship with my
computer.
I love reading. And drawing. And writing. And a dozen other things, but I don't want to bore you to death. Yet.  :P

I love playing BG 2:SoA (I don't love playing BG 2: ToB )

I always have at least there three mods installed:

 Dungeon-Be-Gone, (It keeps me sane)
 NPC Flirt Packs
 Banter Pack (Whee, interaction!)

Um, it's been a while since I last posted to a forum.
I sometimes have a very queer sense of humour.  And can be very blunt when I want to , which is very rarely.
I tend to lurk more than I post and think hard before writing anything.

That's all, folks!  :)

... testing ... testing ... so, it works. Ok.

As my nick say, I enjoy enchanting things and blaming those who resist that inevitable process. Don't feel offended, I'm here just "en passant" and the main purpose of spending my time here is being in touch with ppl who already gave very great pieces of IE modding artwork. So, ... I came here to see what you have in this pocket. : )))) Secondary, I'll try to get what overall WeiDU syx is and to offer some exact minor/major changes provided by mine current project CE2.0SE (Actually 3D Engine, but one powerful parser/precompiler mechanism will be included soon). Beside the fact I'm not able to post the proper english and I say what I think, I belive we shall not have the other problems here.

One "hi" for all those who I already know.
Others, be well.

Hello, I'm Perricath. I'm a Mac user (yeah, yeah, yeah... I like it, okay?) married to a Mac/Linux/does it use silicon chips? programmer and we're slowly converting and testing mods to Mac compatibility. I admit I haven't posted here before though I've lurked around the various communities while downloading mods.

I also write fiction; I'm working on selling a couple of novels to Luna and a third SF to Berkley. I'm also writing a critical history of Christianity in the Colonial period.

I game as much as I can find the time for, but darn it, I need a time-stop spell sometimes.

It's nice to see work progressing to make mods more compatible with other platforms.  Another user has recently begun work on converting mods to Linux, so the more the merrier.  It helps keep the modding world going even longer.

question one backround: I have bg2 w/ToB, they're installed (unpatched,) and playable.

I got the ToB patch, but my pc says it can't "find the file specified"

easy problem, but I mentioned my ignant foo status, which I am finding is very inhibitory when it comes to patching, mod'ing and the like.

I have been a lurker too, guilty.
I am Satnam
I have owned: Intellivision (damn block dudes acting like they run)
Sega (pre-genesis) they called the Master system...I even had the funky 3d glasses for Zaxxon, I swear between that game and Tempest, I must have spent my MIT tuition in one summer.
I am a BG and BG2 fanatic, just recently found this site when I ran into issues with BG1.
Spare time I read (Forgotten Realms mostly) play games on my PC, although the PS2 and Madden are stealing some time.
Basic data:

I have 2 daughters (I have custody and they are both Baldur's Gate fans) and a German Sheppard puppy.
Oh and i have a full-time career with a boss who would drop dead if he knew where I was at this moment.

I hadn't seen this thread either - my bad for failing to check in.  Not a lurker though!  Been fairly active helping officially and unofficially beta-test a few mods, both here and over at G3.  Hoping to acquire some m4d m0dd1ng sk1llz myself from watching the masters at work, and a few ideas playing around in my head.

I'm male, age 35, name of Paul.  100% Spaniard descent, Cuban by upbringing, New Jersey by residence, American by nature.

Been into computers for most of my life, including my childhood.  Whole new vistas opened up for me at age 7 when my brother brought home a rental computer with Compuserve attached (110 baud - eat your heart out).  I bought my first computer at around 10 years of age - I'm pretty sure it predated even the Atari 2600, at least when it first came out.  It was the first real "PC" - a Radio Shack TRaSh-80 Model I Level I BASIC computer (retailing for $500 with a staggering 4K of jet-fuel-breathing RAM!)  Would you believe I stocked shelves in a convenience store for 3 years to afford that puppy?  Most watches come with more memory than that thing had now.

Huge sci-fi/fantasy fan.  Favorite authors include Larry Niven and Roger Zelazny.  Favorite TV shows include Babylon 5 and Farscape.  I can enjoy Star Trek, but I'm also a veritable heathen on account of finding the entire Star Wars universe to be generally silly and boring.

Recovering MMORPG addict (alright, it's been a few years, but you know you never really recover).

Work from home as a computer consultant - and let me tell ya, it's the life.

Anything else?  Well, if you're cute, single, female, and there isn't an insane age disparity between us, and you want to know more, drop me a line ;)  The rest of ya - why do you want to know so badly?!?!?!   :o

Oh, I might as well...

I'm 19, turning 20 in May, born and raised in Holland (or The Netherlands, whichever you prefer). I'm not really thrilled by TV since there's hardly anything good on it here (maybe once or twice a week). I don't have any favorite movies either. Can't really be bothered to watch them. Same with books.

I'm into music, especially 70's / 80's rock. Going to learn bass guitar soon. 8) I play a lot of videogames, especially RPG's, and BGII has always been a favorite of mine. Now I discovered the modding community, I'm more addicted than ever, and not planning to leave anytime soon. I'm still unemployed, unfortunately (I'm looking, though!), and I'm also unmarried.(not single, however. Tymora be praised :-[ )

I'm a very active lurker of the BGII Mod community, and I'm working on my own Mod(s) while trying out other people's Mods. My favorite are NPC and Romance Mods, though I'm using a lot of others too, apart from Tutu (can't get it to work) and other (drastic) conversions.

Nice to meet ye! ;D

Heya! I'm Katie. I'm 16, and from Fresno, California.
I was originally the youngest modder (well, I wasn't releasing any of my stuff back then) on the original website/forums.
AND I SPENT THREE FREAKING YEARS TRYING TO FIND YOU GUYS AGAIN!  :'( But, I did, so I'm good :D
I haven't changed my username since last time, so if you're wondering, yeah, I'm the original Imoen_Nightflame.

Hmmm. I'm a rabid Imoen/Kelsey/Anomen fangirl (is that contradictory, to love Kelsey AND Anomen?) I love the storyline quite a bit, and this was the first game I ever really got into.
I was the most praised out of my friends (all of them BG fans), because I owned every game. But now, my BG2 CD's were destroyed *dies*, I gave my fiancee my copy of BG (it's unfindable at stores now), and I have an XBox and not either of the Dark Alliance games for it.

So, yes! If any of you remember me or were one of my good friends on here (BEN!!), PM me! Or IM me...or something of that kidney...

~Imoen Nightflame
Hehe, I'm such a nerd. I wonder if anyone understands why my last name is Nightflame?

My name is Jamie, and I'm from South Carolina.

I played Baldur's Gate 1 when it first came out, but I'm planning on playing it again. Maybe I'll try DSotSC, which I recall seeing somewhere here.

And I'm also planning on buying Baldur's Gate 2.

That's about it.

If, once you get BG2, you feel like trying out BG1 with the enhanced features of the BG2 engine, I recommend the Tutu (BG1 to 2) mod.  And not just because I'm one of the creators. :)

Hey, I'm a 34-year-old woman, living in the suburbs of Chicago with my husband and two ferrets.  I've been playing computer games most of my life, ever since a childhood friend had this amazing game called "Pong" hooked up to her TV.  I also played D&D/AD&D on and off from age 8 through college.  Much more recently, I've been playing the hell out of Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, and City of Heroes.  I'm a recovering EQ addict, and before I started playing that, I absolutely adored playing Baldur's Gate (1).  I'd never actually finished it, though, so a few months back I dusted it off, installed, and finished it up.  From there, I ordered BG2, and partway through ToB I found my way here.

Oh yeah, almost forgot - Kelsey > Anomen with Flirt Pack > Anomen. ;D  Go figure, I detest romance novels/chick flicks/romantic films, but give me a decent RPG in which a nice guy can win my heart, and I'm a total sucker.

I've been posting here for several months, so I suppose it's about time I introduced myself.  :)

I'm, err, old, and I live in Eastern Massachusetts with my husband and two kids. I'm also a long time BG player, and was a regular on alt.games.baldurs-gate (under another name) for quite a while. As a matter of fact, I think I must have played the very earliest versions of both Kelsey and Solaufein, and I remember quite clearly the post responsible for the horror that became known as "Improved Illyich".

Needless to say, now that I'm back in BG-playing mode, I'm glad I've found a place to indulge my interest in all things BG. My husband just doesn't understand.  ;)

I suppose I should post here before spamming anywhere else...

I'm 23, currently living in West Yorkshire (but I'm foreign). I placed myself under house arrest because I'm sitting for my major finals next month. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop me from adventuring into the Forgotten Realms and even Daventry whenever possible. I recently got addicted to abandonware... and since warriors, mages, etc. are my fancy, it eventually led me back to the world of Baldur's Gate. BG2 is my all-time favorite game, along with Icewind Dale (only the 1st one though... II sucked).

Apart from that, I'm a big fan of PnP roleplaying, particularly 3rd ed DND. The people I'm living with are more into Call of Cthulhu and Vampire the Masquerade though... so they might tamper with my insanity level soon.

I have aspirations in many fields, such as creative writing, abnormal psychology, digital photography... even braiding hair and dreadlocks... must've been effects from BG2  ;D

I suppose a short introduction won't hurt.

I live in a city north of Ghreyfain and am apparently two days older than JCompton. I work for an accountant who doesn't believe in computers, and try not to spend too much of my free time at forums, because then I'd have no food or clean clothes and all my plants would die. But it's hard to resist answering questions about the workings of games I feel I know fairly well. Which is probably why I still hang out at Planet Baldur's Gate after all this time. I use capital letters when I wish to make a reasonable first impression. Just try getting through a job interview with no capital letters... guaranteed fiasco.

Long time RPGer, I bought BG2 when it came out played it  too much then went to EQ(Played Mikbik and Zukn), played that too much bought BG1 then found the mod community. I was an avid reader/downloader of the Forgotten Wars(That was the old forum JC and Ghrey hung out in right?) forums, though I can't recollect posting.
Before that I was a PnP gamer WFRP (:P to the rude comment above, great system and great setting), WWTAP(Werewolf The Apocalypse) and some ADD&D. AFter that came some muding on a dragonlance MUSH (I was Fingas,on the very vague chance anyone I played with passes by)and a non-precreated Sci-Fi MUSH.
I'm currently playing Zukn and Mikbik in EQ2. I was an avid Magic The Gathering player for several years, 3rd-7th Ed. I enjoy a good game of chess or Settlers of Catan or Bood Bowl 2nd-3rd ed. Well that's my relevant game history.

OOps no edit as I'm a guest. I'm British, lived in Canada for a long time, seemed longer due to isolation. (VERY Northern, Ontario)In specific I'm Welsh, call me English at your peril(British is acceptable), I posses a very celtic temprament. My real name is Ben (NOT Benjamin, ref Celtic temper), my middle name is Gawain, and my surname is Scandinavian, in origin(What like I'll hand everything out in one go?) my fathers family was from Yorkshire, NOT England, (For Americans(Or other foreign types) reading calling a Yorkshire or Welshman English is like walking into a bar in Alabama and saying "Go Yankies")
I thought the banter packs were an exceptional addition and a masterfull use of the system. Without a doubt on par or better than the original characterisations. Kelsey showed a phenomanal standard for fan mods, that equalled and in many parts exceeded the profesional NPCs. Why you guys aren't working for a major software company or haven't started a company is beyond me.

That's very flattering. I actually have looked into how much money it would take to launch a halfway respectable company to create a new CRPG. It's a lot more than I have and even more than I'm willing to lose in the attempt. :) I have no doubt that some of our better modders could indeed catch on in game design and development, but the profession is pretty demanding.

<Walks up in front of blackboard and glances around shyly. Notices two guys in back shooting spitballs at everyone else. Coughs.>

Hi, I'm Kuemper.

<dead silence from other people. guys stop spitting.>

'Hi,' says Bons, waving a hand and giving me a smile. <I wave back. I think she's sweet.>

I'm from Newfoundland, Canada.

<Insert Newfie jokes here, fellow canucks>

Originally from Iowa. (that's below Minnesota and above Missouri, you simian ingrates.) I live with my first husband, Empath. I found this forum after seeing people had split off from Forgotten Wars. My first mod was Flirt Paks, then Kelsey, Getting-Rid-of-Anomen, Dungeon-be-Gone, and Solaufein.

<Notices rest of class is back doing what they were doing before I showed up. Pushes onward.>

I'm a writer and have been for 26 years. Watch out for me in FanFic. My parttime job is Domestic Engineering Supervisor. I like reading, playing D&D, AD&D, IE games and The Sims. I *think* I have Alzheimer's...maybe, can't remember... <a few people laugh>. Anyway, I got connected to the net after an eight year absence, so pardon me for not knowing WTF I'm doing. <direct last comment to Andyr> I'm reading this forum to break up my online comic habit and to check on Cailean's progress. Note I haven't posted there yet. <Go, girls, go!>

So, anyway, what I'm trying to say is: is it me, or does Weimer look too much like John Carmack with black hair?

<Sits back in chair near front, feeling the heated, laserbeam stares from modders in the back. Turns and decides the stack of pancakes looks particularly viscious. Bons, St. Josephine and Kismet talk about seizing power from Compton and running a totally girls-only forum>

Leaning over toward them, I whisper, "So, Bons is Blossom, St. J. is Buttercup and Kismet is Bubbles. Does that mean Compton is Professor and the pirate pancake is Mojo-Jojo?" <all five stare at my rudeness.>

What? This isn't PowerPuff Girls? PPG? Ya get it?!?"

<pirate pancake shoves a cutlass between its stacks and leaps off the chair.>

Exit. Stage Left.   ;D

Well, I've been here a while already, but have no clue why I haven't introduced myself earlier...(Sudden laziness, black hole instead of my brains, shyness...dunno) So let's get to the formalities: I'm Minna, 29 years old and from Finland. You may have seen me in FW as well, where I'll reply to name minnamaarit (very original, isn't it?  ::)). Don't ask why I'm stargazer here, it's just something that reminds me of my e-mail address, which is from a childhood memory (way too long tale to tell here).

BTW, you may notice that I like to use smilies and parenthesis... ;)

It was Kelsey who brought me here in the first place, and since then I've enjoyed UB, Flirt Pack and Banter Pack as well. I'm almost certain a future fan of Cailean mod, too. :)

I've played BG trilogy too long to remember exatly when I started. Apart from BG, my hard drive is filled up with Morrowind, some old, never-let-go games like Monkey Islands and Indiana Joneses and even Sims. If I'm not playing, you'll propably find me writing letters, reading, drawing, spoiling my two gerbils or teasing my fiance. Outside my home I try to be a good writer and a graphic designer. (Sounds cool, huh? Well, it's not. lol)

So, this is the line with information and boreness and I don't want to cross it. Glad to be here, meet other modders and modmakers and enjoy awesome mods! Keep up the good work. :) Minna out.

Well.

I have been a lurker/student/poster/dreamer/dabbler from way back in '99, starting with the old TeamBG boards. Like a lost puppy, I seem to have followed wheree'er pirates and sorcerers and cooler heads have led, to Forgotten Wars and finally here. I have not completed a mod yet (had one half-finished, but a war, a spark and a hard drive changed that), nor is modding/playing mods my only hobby.

My name has been Xaos Bob (or the older and more complaint-inducing Xaositect Bob) for what seems to be ever, all over Cyberspace. My real name's Chris, and even that I spell Xris when I must wear an accursed nametag for this or that occasion.

Contrary to what my school teachers (and more than a few relatives who saw me with power tools) believed, I may indeed see 35, as that birthday is only 5 months away. I am married and have two gorgeous daughters and a gorgeous wife and a pretty damned spiffy '96 Jetta. I am an innkeeper sometimes, and a graphic artist sometimes, and a writer and artist all the time.

I live in South Dakota, USA. That's about in the middle of the North American continent (currently I am 400 miles from the geographic center) and the home of Mts. Rushmore and Crazy Horse, for all you geographically disinclined and/or international members.

My favorite mod...well, Unfinished Business is great, as is Every Mod and Dog (I like quest and encounter content) and I love the depth and completeness of Kelsey--though the Iron Modder packs are great fun, too. Can I not choose a favorite.. ?

It also bears mentioning that my wife is an avid IE fan, and that Kelsey is her favorite mod. Kudos!

I love D&D 3.5 for all the things it is that 2d Edition AD&D tried to be. I love that BG2 is a rules bridge between 2d and 3d Editions, and wish that Planescape: Torment's console hadn't been disabled, because it's my favorite incarnation of the IE.

I also tend to ramble when I'm not focused.

PnP D&D sucks. its fucking boring. i like warhammer better.

You just never had the right DM. Like me.  ;D

Hi all. I'm 26 and I'm from Poland. I'm mostly strategy gamer, for a long time RPG was for me PnP only (mainly GURPS/VTM never played D&D). I knew BG series before but recently for some reason or other I've really fallen in love with all IE games... Up to now I spend a lot of time at twcenter.net, but the mentioned  IE "mania" pushed me to look for something more IE connected ;) I chose PPG cause... well, after reading few threads here I just felt at home :).
Oh btw I'm one of those who acctually prefer D&D2e over 3e (though I must admit at first I was stunned by 3e, only some time after I came to my senses)

Hello my name is Layla and I got tired of lurking. I like to be making the art, but I'm going to go to law school because I have no soul.

No, just boring visual art. You know, lino prints, Photoshop, Flash, boring, boring things. In fact, last night I stayed up until 7 am to finish a piece. It's not even very good . . .  I obviously don't have a job at the moment. Hahaha.

I have no talent for modding, becuase I'm awful at coding. Well, I'm not awful at it, I just have no experience with it and wouldn't really know where to start. I'm content playing with other people's things.

Okay, to get Mickey off my back, I'll post here too.

My name is Jyzabyl, aka the Bottle Brunette, aka Nikki.
I'm 37, live in Brisbane Australia, and still have my Might and Magic I discs.
I'm a feckless bohemian, which means I do a variety of creative things on a freelance basis and wait tables in between times.
Between work, play and study I spend far too much time at my computer.
My hobby is embarrassing my daughter (For my sake mum, if you go to the p&c meeting, wear a hat, don't wear that t-shirt, don't mention computers and if you tell the headmistress you spent the day slaying dragons I'll have you committed) and my worst habit is quoting Buffy ad infinitum and writing really long sentences.

Hello!  I'm Tess.

Yeah, that's about all that's relevant.

I'm also 22 and live in Wisconsin with my husband and cat, and am one of those poor, lost, scared liberal-arts-college graduates attempting to make a life in the Big Wide World.

Translation: I have an office-monkey job and I'm a weekend writer.

Other than that, I have exceedingly poor taste in music (yes, Manowar, and yes, I long ago lost any sort of ironic smugness in my enjoyment of them), I'm very fond of classical Greek tragedies, and I'm working on the Dace Linton (http://tessgrey.diaryland.com) BGII NPC mod.

I've already gotten a lot of great support and feedback from people within this community and I'm immensely thankful.  I can tell I'm really going to enjoy hanging around these forums!

At least Manowar have a brilliant bass player, you gotta give them that, I love the things he does at concerts (ie. listening to recorded concerts, watching them hurts my brain)
Any specific Greek Tragedies? I was once studying drama history (one of the things I've never finished)

What?  Manowar has a brilliant *everything*!  And always has!

(No, really.  I have no sense of reality anymore concerning Manowar.   ;D  But Joey is a bass-monster, yes.)

My three favourite tragedies are pretty standard: Agamemnon by Aeschylus, The Bacchae by Euripides, and Ajax by Sophocles.

And thanks for the welcomes!

I have no modding experience whatsoever, although I still try to learn what I can.
Meanwhile, I'm here to enjoy the mods I can find (great, all of them!)

My favourite mod NPC - Saerileth - finally a romanceable partner that can fight.
My favourite mod - Flirt packs and quest pack
Looking forward to - De'Arnise Romance and Imoen Relationship Mod

So, what I have I forgotten.. nothing important, I'm sure.

@two threads - i think it's a good idea - a new person may not feel like explaining his/her nick, and there are a lot of old people who never did the explaining and may want to - somehow it seems more organized this way to me.

Um, hello.  My name is William and I have an addiction to Baldur's Gate 2 and the mods people make for it.  I'm old enough to know better and smart enough not to care.  I don't make mods (yet) but I've played just about all of them.  I guess I've been lurking for years, at least since 2002.  I found this thread out of sheer boredom since there have been no progress reports in the Nalia Romance thread for a while.  This is frankly an amazing phenomenon and it speaks much for the games that folks are still interested in them even in these days of 3D and higher end computer games.

I'm mainly from Texas, currently in California, and migrating back to Texas shortly.

I've been a cop, soldier, sand blaster, truck driver, CATI programmer, student, and more... current plans are to conquer all the know universe but I may have to put that on hold until my second lifetime, after no more mods for BG2 are being made... ;)

For all you modders out there, thanks. :)

Hello  :)

I finally registered after a looong time of snooping around for fixes and mods.  It's been years since I joined a modding community (I didn't have a pleasant experience in the community I was in).  But, I finally came (back) out in the open to thank all the modders for making BG/BG2 a womderful experience for many years.  Thank you and congratulations for every mod.

I have not done any modding (yet).  I tried.  Unfortunately, my hectic schedule gets in the way.

I'm originally from the Philippines.  I have been residing in the U.S. for ... geez... 20 years now.  I am the perpetual student (However, do not be deceived... for I am truly old).   Currently, I'm in the Special Education profession.  I love reading (all kinds of books), writing (prose, poetry, etc.), playing pc games (of course!), music and arts... and many more.  My spontaneity has brought so much adventure in life... in general.  :P  (This explains why I have so many interests/hobbies.  I make unpredictable shifts in interests randomly.  My attention span is short, heh.)

Anyway, again, thank you for all the time and hard work put into these wonderful mods!

Hello there, I'm a long time lurker, and some bizarre form of procrastination from studying for (terrifying  :-X) immanent exams has led me right back to my old love, BG II.

Thought I’d finally join in after just hoarding all your wonderful mods for so long, so I might actually be able to contribute. I love to write, like, I suspect, most of you do, and whenever I have a few hours spare I love to paint or draw as well, though those few hours are becoming increasingly hard to find…

Anyway, I’m 17, a student, from good old London (it’s just stopped raining… ;) ), and an unabashed nerd. I’ve wanted to write a mod or at least help to write one for a long time now, and with my renewed love for BG II comes a whole lot of inspiration. And that’s all I can think of right now, hopefully that’s interesting enough for a first post  ;D

are people still activly modding bg2?

I am just starting out,

in the past I have made a bunch of items and stores and such, but never anything too complicated.  This time I am trying joinable npc creation and want it to take off from there.  I know I am a little late to jump on the bandwaggon, but I think there are still a few people out there working on stuff.  If anyone wants to collaberate let me know.  I am an english major and a writer, so I love doing dialog and story.  If any group wants to add a member, I can pick up some of the loose ends and work on easier things until I build up some modding ability.  email me or pm me.  and hello :)

Sure. It may not seem like it when we're all busy teasing each other with spurious polls and so forth, but there is in fact still modding going on and an active, steady stream of people interested in downloading and playing them.

You might want to post more detail about what you do and don't want to do in some of the general modding forums around the land. (Ours is here (http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php/board,15.0.html).)

Introductory nag: If this introductioning is supposed to be summat of an enforced duty, you really need to move the thread to a more prominent place. If it's not, ignore the previous.

I have no idea how long I've been here (though I arrived before I registered), but I'm passing away ever so often due to my broadband people being retards without business sense and even less courtesy. So it's like 6 weeks on, nine weeks off the net, repeat.

Hahrumphf... On to intros.

Expatriate of some small islands I don't really know the English name of, I'm currently residing in the glory that is Greater Stockholm, kingdom of Sweden. Relevant game info: Amused by BG2 demo, I bought and learned to like the game. Off to ID1 to love the music, which in turn led to ID2 and the same response. Annoyed by BG1 when I finally got it (why must everyone nag all the time?), and after many tribulations found PST but never completed it due to various affairs of the sordid kind.

Lover of coffee and cats, hater of dogs and that kind of music that comes with being a dog owner, I'm writing history in a variety of semi-professional ways when not studying. (Who needs an income? Apparently not me.) As for other stuff, I'm not sure what's expected of me, since no one knows me. I'm not helping there, probably, since I'm going by a different name in each place - I like names and try to work out new ones every so often. This one (correctly spelled "Evilyn..." but I didn't think the ellipse would be allowed) actually came from one of my characters in the charming little game of Mordor.

The above sounds rather bleak and boring, but who can blame me after the Swedish football results over in Germany? (Thank god our ladies remain in good form, pasting the Belarussians 6-0. Apologies for gloating if anyone from Belarus should be around.)

About me
Old enough to know better, young enough to not care.

Interests - RPGs, cats, music (all kinds)

Favorite mod - So many good ones.. but I LOVE how the Kivan and Deheriana mod was pulled off. Although I like Kivan/PC so much I'm not sure I'll ever get Deheriana.. which is a shame, since I read some of her dialogues and I do like her a lot X3

Favorite upcoming mod - Cailean, Sola's new additions, any mod which adds quests, Lockheart

Favorite NPC - Kivan and Xan tie. They have so many things to say! Second place goes to Fade.

Favorite Romance - As in my sig.

Music - So many kinds.. Linkin Park (yep), Cheryl Crow, The Monkees, Evanescence, The Beatles, Shania Twain, KT Tunstall, Killing Hannah, Drowning Pool, Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy Composer :) )

Hello.

I am... me. It's been ingrained from the moment I started using a computer not to make my name publicly available on the evil, evil internet. Call me TD. It fits.

I'm 19, be 20 in a few months, and a college student with way too much time on my hands and an overactive imagination.

I've been using computers since age three, playing games on them once I figured out that screwing up didn't mean the end of the world, and was introduced to RPGs through a little game called Icewind Dale. Which I've never actually played.

I own BG1, IWD 2, BGII: SoA and ToB, NWN and will be snatching up NWN 2 as soon as I can. I also own and play a wide variety of RTS, FPS, and action/adventure games. I can appreciate almost any kind of music, provided it actually has a meaning beyond "hey, I'm famous, worship me." I love reading and writing, but don't have the patience for modding IE games. NWN series... yes. Been working on one for a long time now. Progress goes slowly. I am lazy.

I also like giggling maniacally. Interpret as you will.

Hey, I'm new.

"As am I."

>>>*sigh* And I guess I'll have to play along to, do I?<<<

Yes.

>>>Oh well. I'm new too.<<<

~~Garrx shdaaay agerew aaa.~~

"Mr. Grue said: 'I am a new member as well.'"

Thank you Iggy.

>>>Why does Igrette always get to translate what Mr. Grue says?<<<

Because you, Jazhara666, my dear Evil Twin, took neither Grue, *nor* Draconic in Evil Twin school.

>>>Oh right. I took the language of everything cute, fluffy pretty AND EVIL instead, so as to better communicate with my minions. Had I of course known that I would be the evil twin of *YOU*, then I would have of course taken draconic, so I could talk with your foster Angeldragon child.<<<

But you didn't.

"Yeah, and so you can't talk to me in secret, and you can't understand Mr. Grue's dialect! *sticks out tongue at Jazhara666*"

And now silence you two! I after all have to rule this planet all alone, and that's not being done by itself. And you don't want the armies of the evil grey squirrels to destroy humanity, do you?

"No..."

>>>As much as I hate you, I'm human too. So, no...<<<

Good. And now: Ishi.

Not my first time either (or even my first second time, for that matter... if you catch my drift!), but as I am now back to stay and re-start my modding work on the "Chrysta" NPC mod over on SHS, I thought it would be exceptionally rude of my not to drop in and say hello again to PPG.  It has been a while (over eighteen months in fact) since I was last in a position to do any modding, having been without regular internet access for the better part of two years, but even if the interest in IE modding has waned significantly in the meantime, it still feels good to be back.  :)

And you may see me lurking a lot here over the next few weeks and months - methinks I have a LOT to catch up on!  ;D

About me... well, I'm a very annoying person with no life ;D. That's about it, I guess.
Uh, as for modding, I've had relatively little experience. I have some ideas for NPCs, but I don't know jack shit about coding, so I don't know if I'll ever get around to making them. So yes, basically, I'm just going to hang around and get on everybody's nerves here. Because that's what I do.

I'm Gert Jan, nearly twentyfour years old and living in The Netherlands. That's a small country in Europe in case you were wondering. I ehm, like to read, Paulo Coelho and the like come to mind. Art, theatre, foreign movies and the like. As for profession, I'm a writer. Unplublished as of yet, but that won't stop me. Hi, I exist. Never posted here, either, so I might as well.

Started playing the BG games at the age of eight. It's been a long seven years and I still haven't gotten sick of them. I was around before PPG, I think. Kelsey was the first mod I ever installed, quite a long time ago. (Aside from the Baldurdash fixpack, that is.)

I have the ideas but not really the motivation or the copious amounts of free time/patience to learn how to code and write my own mods. I'm a reader, a writer, and an artist. I have a natural talent for seeing spelling and grammar issues and fixing them.

I'm also available to do voice acting if anyone ever needs a fairly/relatively young-sounding female voice actor.

Hmm,

Well I've never said much of anything, on these boards but I've been lurking around for about half a decade or so, if you count the old forgotten wars site.  I've been playing games  forever well my version of forever which is back to my earliest memories of the atari and C-64.

I've recently realized that I'm in my 30's now, how that fact slipped by me for so long leaves me puzzled, time flys while your having fun I guess. I work for the post office so when your mail is running late you can always blame me for staying up to late playing games and then napping on the job.

The baldurs gate series of games has always been my favorite along with planscape torment and the fallout series of game, which is what keeps me comming back to here, I've thourghly enjoyed the mods that have been produced here and would like to offer my thanks for all the time and hard work that you all have put into them, and for the support all those of you who are much more vocal than I, have given them.  :P

Been playing BG for well it feels like forever and yesterday all rolled into one. Been lurking about the forums and downloading mods for about 2 or 3 weeks now and didn't realise BG was still so popular. Been offline for about 2 years so the fact I can still get mods for a game thats lets face it pretty old (but aging well ;D ) is pretty amazing.
I'm 28. Live in the North East of England so if your from outside the country or the North East and heard me talk you wouldn't understand a damn thing I was saying.
Got a loverly little 6 month old called Gabriel (who's daddies little star) and a loving partner who cares not a bit for the funny little pixel people I play around with but lets me get on with it all the same.
I haven't got the web at the minute so am using works so be realllll quiet sometimes and full of responces at others so bare with me till the end of feb.
Anyway thanks for all the hard work on the mods and keep up the good work.

Later

P.S. Keto and Xan....... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks for them.

Hi,
I'm a 40 year OLD complete 'noob' from England who bought his first PC back in 1998, just in time to play Baldur's Gate : the game I'd waiting for since becoming a gamer on an old Dragon 32 (remember ? - probably not !) home computer at the age of 14. Computers may have moved on dramatically but games have not IMO : the IE games are for me still the greatest games ever written, although I've also enjoyed a number of others ( the X-Com series, DeusEx, the Half-Lifes (though I'm not really into shooters, but you have to admire quality) , the original Tomb Raider, Civilzation, Thief : DS and a few others).

I'm barely computer-literate (many of my generation are) so I feel pretty humbled coming on this site but I'm rather excited about getting my IE games ( BG1+2, IWD1+2, Torment) to not only work on my new Vista system but also to look better and with mod-enhancements. I'll therefore mostly be 'lurking', researching mods etc. and I'll almost certainly need advice at some point(s!) So a big 'thanks' in advance to all the people who are dedicating themselves to keeping these great games alive : you deserve a lot of recognition for this.

As for me, I studied Philosophy at Warwick University in the early nineties and still read it 'casually' (if you can read philosophy casually) today, despite the fact that I find it (philosophy) just as depressing - though in a different way - as 'real life'. My favourite Baldur's Gate character must therfore be Xan the Enchanter, who is so gloriously depressed about everything it cheers me up no end every time I have him in my party. Where has this quality of writing gone in games ?  In my view the quality of writing in all the IE games is stunning. The music too : I'm thinking at this moment of the music that starts up when you enter the 'Watcher's Keep' area in BG2 ToB. Sadly, I believe that this was a Golden Age for computer games in general, and like all such ages it was destined to be brief. But I'm sounding too much like Xan again so I'll sign off. Good luck to everyone on this fantastic site !

Hey Lords and Ladies, nice to be here and all that Jazz...  I just thought I'd register to say thank you to everyone involved in Tut and Easy Tutu.  I recently purchased the Baldur's Gate 4-in-1 box set, having never played them before as I am only recently a PC owner so I've been catching up on all the great games that I've missed.  I have played the action-RPG's Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance I + II on the original Xbox, which I loved to bits and the old AD&D Gold Box adventure Role Playing Games on the Commodore 64.  Starting Baldur's gate, I was enjoying the gameplay but immensely frustrated that I could hardly see any of the playing area at all!  So discovering Easy Tutu (and waiting for the may release when I did) was a great moment :)

I've also gone on to install loads of the most popular mods, including the G3 dialogue ones, the original GUI mod and some various fixes from the tweak pack and the Sam Ding0 stuff.  It's definitely improved my experience (running in 1024x768 now I can see stuff! I think any more than that and it would be too small.)

I'm also a big fan of (unrelated but similar) Sacred Gold so I was pleased that that appears to be done in a similar style to BG, which must have inspired it.

The only thing that worries me is the Beregost issue.  I haven't visited there yet, and have memorised the rules of saving, going in, saving after you come out, reloading your original save and going in again to see if it crashes.  I know there will be posts about this a dozen times over, but having used the search engine I cannot find anything concrete.  I know that no one seems to know what makes the files corrupted.  I have read that there is a program that can de-corrupt your save file, but it doesn't work for everyone?  Is it possible somebody could provide me with a link to that tool? Also, any links to forum topics concerning the Beregost crash in more detail would be great, specifically what I am looking for to know that my save is corrupted.

Thanks folks, Tutu is great, the WeiDU installs are really easy and user-friendly and it's amazing that people put all this effort in.

Now, if only someone would write a high-res engine for Fall Out 2, maybe using the Tactics engine...  That would be something :D

Later folks

Hi. My name's Paul, and I've been enjoying Infinity Engine games for quite a few years now. I'm the sort of guy who installs as many mods as he can get away with, regardless of the implications on gameplay. I've often entertained a dream of reverse-engineering every single mod for a game ever and combining the content from each into a single, stable, cohesive and comprehensive mod (With fixes of course, otherwise the game wouldn't be stable or cohesive).

That said, I'm too much a writer and not enough (Read: Not at all) a coder. I create characters, locations, settings... Unfortunately, I'm also something of a procrastinator. Right at this minute however, I've got a single project...

Completing all of Icewind Dale, Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster on Insane difficulty on Heart of Fury mode... starting with level 1 characters. I'm doing quite well, actually.

Help!

I'm a complete and utter newbie to this site. Found it because I was looking for a great party-based CRPG to play and realized (sadly) that no one makes them any more. Figured I'd Google "Baldur's Gate" and see what kind of modding and such is going on. I played Baldur's Gate and BG2 when they came out and have never had so much fun playing a computer game.

Can someone fill me in on what I need to do to get started with the fun? I have so many questions....

Since you're already here and all, you might want to start by having a casual browse of some of the dedicated mod forums here, as well as the Mod Discussion forum. That should give you a decent place to start building your understanding of just what is available to you. Also, browsing the categories of the modlist (http://modlist.pocketplane.net) will give you some hints.

Beyond that, there are a great many "what do you recommend/what do you install?" threads, here and elsewhere... advice being free and all, the quality and taste varies, but sooner or later you'll get a vibe about a mod you're intrigued by, or a person whose opinion seems to be not completely brewed in an alien beaker, and be able to start installing.

Well it's been ages since I've been around; I wouldn't doubt that people have long since forgotten me...  I had to change my SN, since I really don't remember my old one...  That's how long it's truly been.  -sigh-  I think the last time I was here, I was maybe seventeen or eighteen...  Pretty much when the old site split up into two.  So I was here during the birth of Pocket Plane...  Wow, takes you back doesn't it?

You guys still have my picture up; that makes me smile lol.  Scroll through, find Kate, that's me.  Err...  Wait, was that my SN?! -sigh- maybe?  I don't have that email anymore though, which makes me think I wouldn't even remember the password if I tried...  -grumbles-

ANYWAY, I just really wanted to pop in and say "hello" to everyone that might remember me, it's really been awhile.  Can you believe how long I've gone without a computer?  Better yet, let's not talk about that :D  I'm just extremely thankful that I backed up the NPC I was working on...  Now it's just a matter of trying to remember how to do everything.

-heads over to the tutorial area-

I'm new. I didn't know an answer to something I wanted an answer to in regards to Baldur's Gate, so I came here to ask since this is a site about Baldur's Gate... so I assumed someone would know.

I  have no reason for using this thing aside from me wanting to see how it works...

Wow. That's all I can think of to say. Just wow.

This isn't a 'Hi! I'm new and want to introduce myself' kind of introduction. This is more a 'Hi! I joined this group a long time ago, had to rejoin when there was that whole big split thing going on and now, years later, finding out that I still have an account here' kind of introduction. I have a tendency to disappear and resurface like some kind of weird comet.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I came across my Baldur's Gate games. I gazed at them and remembered all the hours I spent playing the game over and over again. For kicks, I installed it and did some light surfing for mods . . .

Three weeks later, I am on my fourth run through. *sigh* Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Wow.

Seeing as I've been lurking for a while, figured I'd better introduce myself.

I go by Garina online, because that was the name of the first RPG character I ever named, and I liked it. I'm an unemployed 23 year old living in the UK (physically, my mind and attention seem to permanently be somewhere else). Seeing as I now know vanilla BG2 practically off by heart, I decided it was time to start adding mods. Having LOTS of fun :D

Definitely interested in (eventually) getting involved in modding myself, but seeing as I have zero knowledge on the subject, think I'll do some research first...

Hello There, I've been here for alittle while now an I couldn't seem to remember if i had ever said my "Hello's & How Do You Do's"?. Anyhow I'm a huge fan of thew Baldurs Gate Series aswell as Neverwinter (the first one) and when I ran into this site 2 years ago it blew my socks off that anyone still cared for the series. So I dugg around reinstalled the original Baldurs Gate (since then i bought the collections edition) and enjoy messing around with the mods. Ah what else.. I'm married with childern.. two fo them for that matter and well games are my little get-away.

Hi there !
I am Dilustro, proud Baldur's Gate fan ever since I was nine years old (yes, my parents had good tastes when it came to christmas gifts). I got back into the game quite recently and have been heavily relying on fan-made mods to keep playing the game over and over again.
I've been following your community for two years now, reading messages here and there... It almost seems to impolite to break into the room shouting I had been spying the whole time, but bear with me.
I plan to make my own mod(s ?) one day but right now I am quite too busy, what with the exams I am preparing and all... For the time being I guess I'll just pop into conversations.
I live in France and like to draw and write stories (original or just fanfictions alike). I am a student in Philosophy, Litterature and History (yeah, at the same time, my situation is quite bizarre), and love to do divination through Tarot readings.
Hope to know you all a bit better !

*wave* I realized that I ran posting before I even said hello -  :-\ anyway, hello. There's not really much to say about me. On and off gamer - especially with Baldur's Gate and currently in another addiction phase thanks to several of the lovely mods I only recently discovered. I'd take off my hat off to you guys... sadly I don't own one, but the feeling's there nevertheless.  :)

Hi!
I'm a gamer and voice actor.
I've played many of the NPC and Kit mods available through PPG and I really was looking to give back to the community!
So, voice actor available for work and a big "Hello" to everyone ^^.

Hi, I used to be known as Silk but had to re-register. Bleh.

I helped on several mods and played BG and ToB for years.

Even did a little bit of voicing.

Would like to play again but unsure which version to choose.

Hey again. :) I think regular BG2 still works fine, just as EasyTutu.

Erhm, fixed that for you... as long as one uses the non Operation System protected folders, so avoiding the Program Files -sub folders and the user profiles -sub folders in Windows, you should be fine. Yeah, knowing that even the official patch can't patch the games files if you install it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\ -is worth knowing, on any of the currently running fully updated Operation Systems. So just use the C:\Games\BGII - SoA\ -folder instead, and everything will be fine. Or what ever you translate the "Games" to be on your language.

Hi everybody, nice to meet you! I play Baldur's Gate 2 since 2002 (BG1 only via demo until I bought it via Gog ten years later) and now I also own the enhanced editions. :)
