Title: Changing a creature to an NPC
Post by: Andrew on May 28, 2004, 10:31:09 PM
How do you change a creature into an NPC. For example, I want to make Plath Rededge into an NPC. Plath is the female bandit that attacks you in Garren Windspear's home. I have the Near Infinity Editor. Will this be enough to change her into an NPC and also to change her stats? Also, how do you go about adding a portrait for her? Please help.

A good place to start is here: http://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php?topic=52.0

NI really isn't enough. I recommend DLTCEP. I actually use both DLTCEP and Shadowkeeper for creating NPCs, along with WeiDU of course. You can assign a character a portrait in DLTCEP and get it into the game with WeiDU. Here's the code, which should go in your .tp2:

COPY ~MYNPC/Portraits/MYNPCS.bmp~ ~override/MYNPCS.bmp~
COPY ~MYNPC/Portraits/MYNPCL.bmp~ ~override/MYNPCL.bmp~

Thanks for the information but what is DLTCEP and where can I get it? Also I had Weidu but I couldn't understand it at all. I tried to look at some tutorials but Weidu doesn't seem to be as user friendly as some of the other editors out there. Any suggestions on how to find out how to use it?

I searched around and found DLTCEP and I was able to install it. But when I enter into it it says to run setup. What are you supposed to do in the setup in order to get it to work? Sorry, but I've only played mods before I have never tried to make one. I'm trying to figure out how to make a romance mod.

I think you need to specify game paths and stuff, so DLTCEP knows where to find your game.
