I was close for a vote for Land of Intrigue.  That's going to be a massive & worthwhile project.

Cailean is one of those projects I'm really looking forward to as well ... and I don't even plan on seeing his romance since I play male PCs almost exclusively.

Return to Windspear is going to be top notch.  There is NO doubt that I will play this mod.

I have my ear to the ground on the progress of the Tiefling Sisters mod.  That looks really interesting.

I am going to *have* to play with Harvey the Rabbit Sorcerer at least once.

Heck, I'm even anticipating mods that are already released that I haven't had an oppertunity to try like Banters & Unfinished Business.

However the project that I'm most looking forward to right now is Refienments!  Things like properly fixed Shapeshifter Druids, the new HLA tables, and the Sword Angel kit make this mod one of the ones that for whatever reason have currently grabbed my attention the hardest.

So I have to vote "Other" and hope for the best!

You can tell by Legolas's many fans.

Oh no! I cant edit the poll. Consider "Other" as Cailean. So many people have voted "other" for Cailean, that it would be stupid to do otherwise. At least, thats what I think.  ::)

Well I've already played quite a lot of TOIW in the form of the beta, so I'm eagerly anticipating seeing the rest of that (especially Calimport) :).

I know I'm working on Lands of Intrigue, but some of the stuff we have planned for it is just so cool I'm desperately wanting to play it myself ;).  In particular some of the NPCs the other team members are working on (half-Ogre barbarian, anyone?) should be an absolute blast! Look for more info on this mod in the near-ish future.

Lost Crossroads should prove to be the ultimate "spellcasters kicking arse!" mod.  I hope once all the spells are done, Galactygon extends his creativity to new items, quests, etc ;D.

I'm not a huge fan of romance mods, so De'arnise romance only really peaks my interest because of the various non-romance stuff JC plans to add, which I'm sure will be exceptional :).

Return to Windspear mod seems to cram as much attention to detail and role-playing options into a single quest as other mods do into a dozen quests! Needless to say I'm definitely looking forward to playing it..

Icewind Gate 2 is the mod on the list that I'm least looking forward to.  I'm afraid much rather have a mod which brings IWD2 content to the BG2 version of the Infinity engine and 2E rules, rather than the other way around.

The Dragonlance TC and Fallen Star TC aren't mentioned on the poll, but I'm really looking forward to them too.  It's just a shame that the majority of the teams for both projects seem to have vanished, for the moment at the moment.

I'm also really looking forward to playing Fields of the Dead, Sim's Quest Pack, Nocturnal Supremacy, South of Glory, BG1NPC Project, the non-beta version of the Cleric revamp mod, DSotsC revamp and of course BoB and future versions of UB and the Banter Pack.  Not to mention many of the NPC mods, including Elai, Harvey, Surayah, Delainy, Shar-Teel for SoA, Aklon, Keli & Inara, etc.

My point is that if it's possible for TCs for other games to actually get finished, there's no reason the same shouldn't be true for the Infinity Engine :).  Unless there's some kind of IE curse or something...

I actually disagree here. I think IE games have more elements to take into account than many other games, as well as not being designed for modding. With something like Unreal Tournament, you make a few new maps, reskin all the weapons, and it's a TC. With IE games, you have to have numerous areas, characters, plots, and so on... and creating stuff in 3dsmax is harder work than UnrealEd.
Title: Re: Most anticipated mod (PP, FWS, etc..)
Post by: NiGHTMARE on April 05, 2004, 05:50:55 AM
The original Doom and Wolfenstein 3D weren't designed for modding either, and look how many TCs there are for them (in case you don't know, tonnes)... :)

I agree with you about how hard it is to create entirely new areas, but a TC doesn't have to use brand new ones.  There are, after all, plenty of areas from BG1, BG2, IWD1, IWD2 and Planescape to make use of... plus you can easily modify them in IETME or even Paintshop Pro or Photoshop;).  From what I've heard of upcoming games like Doom 3, future FPS editors are going to be even more complex and laborous than 3Dsmax, plus it sounds like it'll take something like 10 minutes just to make a single texture, what with all the extra layers you need to apply (bump mapping, etc).

Creating a new creature also takes a heck of a long time and effort in the IE, but the same is true of any sprite-based game.  I cite Doom again as an example - it has TCs of Aliens, Batman, Ghostbusters, James Bond, an anti-terrorists TC, a western TC, and numerous others.  Starcraft is another sprite based game that has tonnes of TCs (admittedly area design for it is a cinch).

Re-using areas tends to suck because you're always gonna recognise the areas, and they're rarely well-suited to the purpose you need them for.

Agreed!  Cailean was the one I was thinking of too at least as far as Pocket Plane mods.  Of course now that I know about Kelsey part deux I may have to consider my options a bit further. ;)  In other words I'm looking forward to both of them.

As far as mods from other groups are concerned, DEFINITLY the BG1 mod Domi and Co. have been working so hard on.  I can't wait to play the Coran romance and considering I made his alternative portrait makes me even more anxious for it! ;D

As far as mods from other groups are concerned, DEFINITLY the BG1 mod Domi and Co. have been working so hard on.  I can't wait to play the Coran romance and considering I made his alternative portrait makes me even more anxious for it!

I really, really hope it won't dissappoint (I am having pre-release jitters  :) )

Since I'm looking for more villianious characters to bulster my ranks my eye is on "The Elai NPC mod: Shadows of the Past". Good and neutral folk cramp my wannabe-Lord of Murder style.

Pft!  Elai isn't evil.  His brother Nasard is EVIL and Andyr's got a really great guy doing his voice...  ;D

Not necesserily...  :P

Ok, yes.  Don't worry, I don't have an ego the size of Japan.  I'm just messing about...

Hehe... Always nice to hear someone besides me wants to play my mod. :) And yes, Grim is providing voicing for Elai's also - evil brother, Nasard.

I don't expect any NCP to reach my level of blood lust and corpse hugging. Still,  Elai will undoubtably serve as a better villian than Yoshimo and frankly I need someone to counteract Korgan's boarrish behavior. Don't get me wrong, the Dwarf knows how to use an axe. Sadly the role of tank is all that he is good for.

Dont forget warcraft 3, the cutscene making in that game is brilliant, you can make a custom map that is only a cutscene. Usually these cutscenes involve two 2-headed ogres fighting over a remote, and as they fight, they switch channels, which is funny. Let me know if you own warcraft 3, the frozen throne.

On another topic thats on-topic, I think that ie games are one of the few games out there truly worth your effort in modding. They proved great foundations for ideas and stuff, while not stamping out your creativity with insane graphics and such...

I for one cant wait till Tower of Iron Will, my Tc doesnt look all that promising at the moment... I think Chaz58 left the team, so we are stunned for the moment. However, ideas are still flowing, so we should soon be able to get back on track. Also, any work i am doing with modding is on hiatus until i manage to get my copy of bg2 back from my "friend."  I cant believe i borrowed planescape torment and lent out bg 2, torment sucks!

It has been brought to my attention that parts of this thread don't really relate to "most anticipated mod."  Accordingly...

It is out. :)

Though not in it's most 'full' sense, as there will be more quests and things added in the future.
