Title: Why moving?
Post by: Galactygon on March 31, 2004, 09:35:56 PM
Sooo why are the FWP mods moving to another place? I haven't seen any explanations here... ??? Unless I have missed something.

*sips a cup of English tea*

P.S. I hope this isn't an April fool's joke. ;)

Nice new shiney forum!  Looking good!  Although... a few more smilies would be nice...  ::)

Edited to add:  So is there anything left at FWP?

Thank god, you do not have agreed joint custody. If there are no seeerious repercussions for posting on both forums, I am in as a seasick deckhand.

Yes, I see you're an expert on the inner workings of the backroom deals and politics of modders.

/me goose steps off into the distance.

Ahem! Whatever happened at FWP is not my bussiness nor is it your (the mod players, not the modders) bussniness.
I for one am glad for the mods and regardless of what happened I will still host mods made at FWP/FWS/IE Modders and now the Pocket Plane Group.

I doubt you know what happened at FWP (I don't know either) so don't make assumptions. And you know what? Even though I'm curious about the reason, I don't want to know it. I'm here to enjoy the mods made by Ghrey, Jason, BevH and many others.

Yeah i've signed up too, although i'm pretty disappointed by the whole situation.....

But nevermind, it was certainly a pretty big shock when i had a look at FWP, only to find all my favourite mods missing! :o

Then, i realised what had happened and calmed down considerably.  ;D

When I first heard about this, the mods hadn't been moved yet, so I was confused - which isn't hard to do.  And I agree with Shodan - it's really not any of our business as to why things happened.  I'm sure the truth will come out if we, the general forum population, are to know about it.  And there is a saying - "the truth is a 3-edged sword:  your side, my side, and the real story."  Besides, another forum for BG mods - can that be bad?

Honestly it makes me a bit sad to see this change.

More sites is bad in the sense that it makes it harder to keep up with the mods.  With the exeption of a few months I took off last winter I've been paying attention to the modding scene for a while now ... yet I completely missed Black Sheep mods and one or two others until quite recently.  Imagine the confusion of a newcomer?

Will TUTU stay at FWS/P?

We'll have to wait and see, in regards to Tutu.

By Tutu you mean the bishop or the ballet costume?

I have to say, I'm kinda attachted to the look of the old forums.  This grey and blue doesn't give me the sme feeling

Yes, I was a big fan of what I called the "Commodore Blue" theme on FWP as well. SMF supports multiple, user-selectable themes, we'll probably get fancy and add some more. Later.

While I was never keen on the blue, definately wasn't something I saw everywhere else.  Kinda grew on me.

All this reminiscing makes me sad. :'(

It's like being homesick after having moved away from home for two days.

I prefer the look of this site. Easier on the eyes IMO.

I don't care if this place had an orange background with purple and green polka-dots. I came to PPG for the people. After Neil's post in GenCon at FW, I'll stay with the mods I know and love to parody. ;)

Now that we're on the topic of voice acting, is there any status on the *cough cough* for the One-day *cough*?

:P

You'll have a sample tomorrow. I've been busy with two D&D groups, a village on fire, and minding an 11-year-old cousin. So pardon me if I haven't dusted off the darn microphone yet.

Okay, cool.  It's not as if Jason hasn't already been bugging me ceaselessly about how little my take on one day resembles an actual day. :)

I have been gone for quite sometime because of computer problems so I know what you mean.

My question is I really like the moduals here and over at FW.  I realize there are some problems (which are none of my business so I won't even ask about them) but is anyone going to get offended if I post at both forums?  How would it work if I helped out a modder with something over there but also visted here?  I hope it would be okay

I'm pretty sure that no one here will try to dictate where you can and cannot post. :)   So, er feel free to post on whatever sites you want to.

I can say for certain that if someone did have a problem, they'd need to get a life.  ;)

(I still wish it hadn't come to this, for a lot of reasons, but what's done is done.)

Well I would!!   >:( >:( >:(

I post there as well as in all the other places of which I have heeded the call for reasonable advice at astounding low rates. :) I do not want to invite further competition.  :P

I do not feel like a moving text and I think it is only fair to respect my beliefs!

Well you wouldn't have to worry about that. ;)  The only thing I'm working on is a possible portrait for one of the mods over there and I don't even know if I'm going to be able to do it.  Tried my hand at modding once.  Lost most of the files due to 'puter probs and it makes me wonder if the gaming gods weren't trying to tell me something.  Also, the WeiDu tutorials might as well be in French as far as I'm concerned.  When it comes to something like that, I need someone to sit down with me a literally show me how to use it.  All the intructions in the world don't help me no matter how simple they are to follow.

Sorry to get off topic guys.  Please continue.

Now that the merger and division have occurred, I actualy post less in both put together...
Title: Re: Why moving?

...but divided by the number of onlookers who actually knew what the question was as the thread started, you post only 35% less which is basically an improvement over the broadened time frame to access most threads and means that you post much more than you would have otherwise.

(dang, I lost what I wanted to say after the 'but')
