And I would also grab either Crimson Editor, TextPad (in combination with WildEdit it completely rocks), ConTEXT - they all rock, and most are free. They all beat Notepad. I haven't had a repeat of this using TextEdit as my default program, and I know I must have made the same mistake again at some point :)

Uninstall BG2 (IIRC via the Add/Remove part of Control Panel), delete all files remaining in your installation directory, and then start installing again from scratch.

I repeat, unless you have some experience and can write a weidu.log from your *.DEBUG files, you should really delete this installation and start from zero rather than trying to save the situation once the damage is done.

ya i think that might have been my problem.  Although i thought i had closed it, i didn't know there was any danger in leaving it open so i wouldn't have instinctively done it.  i use Notepad and seeing how as far as i know its the lowest common denominator when it comes to text editors, maybe thats y it didn't warn me. I know virtually about weidu (or DOS for that matter) so if any one could tell me how to uninstall mods manually (when i start their individual .exe files, i have no option for uninstall), that'd be good. I tried using the "--force-uninstall" in weidu because it seemed like it might be what i'm looking for but i can't get it to work.

Really?
Context (the editor I use on Windows) and Kate (the editor I use on Linux) both warn me if a file I have open has been modified. `vi' (a nerdcore editor for Linux) warns too on saving to an already written file.

:-[ I know how to replicate this... I did this early on in my explorations of WeiDU by having a WeiDU log file open in an editor, forgetting it was open, and continuing to install programs. Needless to say, the result was... messy.

It should be possible to derive it from re-reading in order of installation your SETUP-XXX.DEBUG files, although it'll be easier and safer to delete this install and start from scratch again.

I'm not even going to ask how this could happen, save for user messing manually with the file.

For some reason my weidu log for BGII went black. I have the BP mega install as well as a handful of smaller mods installed. After i had finished installing everything i though i might have missed something so i went to my weidu log, but there was no mods listed as installed. I did install a couple mods after and they showed up.And when i opened up some of the installers for the different mods they acted as though they weren't installed (i.e. they had only the options of install, not install, or quit, no uninstall/reinstall). But as far as i can tell they are actually all installed and working. On the screen where you choose either SOA or TOB after starting BGII it says, "Play Shadows of Amn with the now expansion(s) "Tortured Souls", "The Darkest Day", "Shadows over Soubar", "Check the Bodies", "Big Picture"". And although i just started playing, they all seem to be working. So i was wondering if there is some way to refresh Weidu, partly so i have the list if i want to see which ones i have installed, but also so i can uninstall mods if i want to.
