It looks like the two are in fact connected.  I decided to keep trying and refought the battle at least three more times.  In the first two one of Drizzt's henchmen got vampire-charmed and either one of my summoned creatures of one of Drizzt's party attacked.  This prompted the "The fool attacks us!" dialogue, and I was unable to kill "all of Bodhi's children."

Third time I went in there and concentrated on the named vampire, killing it almost immediately.  This brought up a line of dialogue that went something like this: "With the last of Bodhi's children dead, you hear the sound of a door opening."

Dunno what the connection is, but for what its worth....

In the Chapter 6 Bodhi fight, Bodhi locks the door that commonly leads to the bottom floor of the vampire complex and announces something along the lines of "I wont fight you until you kill all my sons and daughters."

I'd do that, if I could only fight them - but though I slay everything in sight, she won't open the door.  The 3 vampire coffins give me the "rotting carrion" response.  I have few other mods loaded, just Kelsey and Quest pack.

On a side note, it seems that one of Drizzt's followers always gets charmed by the vamps.  I was amused to watch Drizzt kill a charmed Wulfgar and then say "That fool attacks! Let us leave him unaided" and off they go.
