Personally, I don't mind the THAC0/DAmage bonuses myself, just the bonus to the Speed Factor. I'll buy that enchanted weapons can be semi-sentient enough to locate their target and instictively improve the aim while they're already being swung/launched, but not that they have decreased overall mass, so that they can be twitched about super-fast. Besides, the very point of small, light weapons, like Daggers and Short Swords, is that they have such low Speed Factors, they will almost always get the first swing--or the first Backstab. But if weapons like Bastard Swords and Warhammers have a Speed Factor of 0, just like Daggers, then the lighter weapons are essentially made obsolete.

Well, and to have a functional weapon, you NEED some sort of mass - swords aren't razorsharp, and without the mass of the metal, it would be like beating a man with a 3 foot straw - no effect whatsoever!

I've always had this grouse that BG2 has WAAAAAY too many +3 +4 +5 weapons and such, that its almost ridiculous. However I've never really known how to patch it until recently.. and now I have.

However, reducing the enchantment level of the weapon has repercussions on the CREs and Spells that can only be hurt / penetrated by certain kind of enchantment levels. So rather than reducing the enchantment level, I jumped straight to the root of the "over-powering" problem, which are the absurd Damage and Thac0 bonuses.

Basically, the items all function same as before, just that the Bonuses to Damage and Thac0 are halved, that's all ;) this applies to ammunition as well.
