A great many things are changed from the normal BG1. I've played BG1 dozens and dozens and dozens, if not hundreds, of times and have played with my own spells and items and hacked characters etc.

The best thing about FotD is that it (almost) fixes the Wizard Opposition Schools for Specialists and the Priest Spheres for Druids and Clerics. It also makes the monsters have the stats and powers they should have and changes where some monsters are encountered. But it also drastically reduces the amount of magick items and weapons available, which might be going a bit too far. There are enough Magick Resistant monsters and monsters that require +1 or +2 weapons to hit to make it dangerous to wander around. I dread meeting something resistant to both.

Personally, I'd prefer a 2nd Edition Rules Fix mod and a separate FotD Adventure mod.

And, as always, I'd thoroughly recommend playing any game with NO mods at all a few times before tinkering with it. Except BG1. I'd recommend a rules fix patch that just makes the game proper 2E mfrom the start. If you can find one.

jester,

as Echon said, Fields of the Dead doesn't really need to be re-released TuTu compatible in the future because as it is, it would already be compatible theoretically speaking. Problem is TuTufix. It seems that TuTufix would overwrite FotD's files...It's also true that it's possible to rewrite TuTufix by "appending" (if I understood well) so that such incompatibility would no longer exist.

I am ready to start a comitate of "TuTu&FotD" fans so that the guys of the TuTu team would realize that 124.334 people are desperately hoping to play these two Mods together for the joy of the eyes and for the joy of the brain... ;D

Thanks alot. Something I forget to say before was that I have never played BG before.

Keep the opinions coming guys. Thanks in advance.
I didn't realize from your previous thread that you'd never played BG before at all.  Just my opinion, but if I were you, I'd play the game through unmodded the first time.

Fotd is really worth recommending, though if you've never played BG1 I'd probably suggest not to install it for the first play-through

Answers for questions 1-3 can be found by consulting the readme or the FotD site. There are some unaddressed bugs at the moment of which there is one which prevents some people from completing the coronation in the palace. All bugs will be fixed in the next update but do not expect it to be ready soon. I am busy with other things right now.

(1) Yes. Yes. Yes. As Sim said, good luck finding a mod on here that isn't in Weidu format.

(5) As someone who has played through BG1 a couple of times before I can say that it is nice that some things were changed. So definitely yes. For even broader appeal I would love to see a TuTu version.

Has anybody here played the Fields of the Dead please for BG1? If yes, how was the playing experience please?

I have the following queries regarding The Fields of the Dead for BG 1.

(1) Just to confirm, I take it that this mod is in WeiDU format.

(2) Is this comptable with the game or does it change major things when compared to the unmodded version of the game?

(3) Does it tamper with the rule system or does it just generally make BG harder?

(4) Is it buggy? Even if theres only 1 bug I would like to know about it, since I have a devils job installing BG and dont want to have to go through it again because the Fields of the Dead decides to play up.

(5) In your personal humble opinion, is it worth installing it please?

Tks in advance.

Just to let you know, I am look for a tough playing experience, based very closely on D&D rules.
