It applies to all sorts of items and not just the 'hidden' items that all BG players and their families know about anyway. It is part of the concept:

"Although the quests and the plot of the game remain the same the environment has undergone some changes to prevent metagaming. Expect traps to be relocated, new traps where none were before, magical items to appear in different parts of the game and so forth."

And the price of Raise Dead remains the same.

:-\ Hmmm....looks like all the easily accessible magic items have been removed or downgraded. The reward for the "Mirianne" quest in Beregost used to be a RoP +1, now its a ruby ring. And raising dead....1000gp,,OUCH! I hope it doesn't go higher than that!!

Some have been relocated, while others (mostly duplicates) have been removed.

I hope you mean relocated instead of just removed.

;D I was looking forward to seeing how much you increased magic item prices by picking up those hidden rings,,oh well. I guess this means the Ankheg item in Nashkel is gone too!
