Topic Summary

I was just going through the list above to see what I wanted to document in my own personal walkthrough, which includes UB content. In the list, it says that Storekeep #9 is a minor restoration. In addition to the linked thread, I assume this one is also relevant. Between that and looking at the UB code, however, it doesn't look like Storekeep #9 ever actually got restored. Have I missed something? (Does anyone even remember at this point? :P )

- Like, WHERE are Quoningar and Shilo Chen? Can't start their quests if I can't find them. Likewise Svlast, Feldane, Keelor and Nasha. I did manage to find Corianna, and it seems obvious where Mal-Kalen is.

Quoningar is on the second floor of the Three Old Kegs, Shilo Chen is in the main room of the Elfsong.  Neither of them is hard to find, they are in plain view.  Feldane is near the library entrance in Candlekeep during chapter 6.  Svlast is in the Firewine Bridge area (in the field just south of the bridge itself), but only at night.  Keelor and Nasha have not been restored yet and cannot be found.  I have some content for them in one of my own mods, but it is experimental and far from finished.

Note that since the new creatures are edited into the area file, you must start a new game after installing BG1UB, or at least not have visited the edited areas in your save yet.

- What good is correcting the name of Sarevok's sword when he is holding it for the whole game and you can't pick it up because the moment he dies, the game is over? Or is there somehow some way to acquire the sword off him while the game is still running?

The sword can be acquired when you are playing Baldur's Gate Trilogy, because there the game does not end after defeating Sarevok (obviously, since it's just part one of the Trilogy) and the transition to BG2 does not happen until you return to the palace and talk with the dukes.  You could even go and use it in Durlag's Tower or on the Werewolf's island if you are so inclined.  I don't know if the same can be done on EET, as I don't have it.

- Restore Hentold's Dagger? I thought that was in the original game - he gave you the dagger and told you to go give it back to the revenant. What about it needed to be "restored"?

The dagger Hentold gives you in the original game is a dagger +2 (DAGG03).  Hentold's Dagger (DAGG08) is a different item.  Although unremarkable, it's just a normal unenchanted dagger.  I'm working on a little something of my own to make it a bit more special (because I feel that DAGG03, which is a named item: "Heart of the Golem", should be unique, and Ramazith in Baldur's Gate carries another copy of it), but don't expect it to be published anytime soon.

Hm, turns out the Bentley Mirrorshade thing was that he hates Eldoth, and thus if Eldoth is in your party he has to be out of the room (send him upstairs to get normal treatment from Bentley's store, but then of course you can't rest with a scattered party.)

Is there a post somewhere with more detail than is given above, or in the readme?

 - Like, WHERE are Quoningar and Shilo Chen? Can't start their quests if I can't find them. Likewise Svlast, Feldane, Keelor and Nasha. I did manage to find Corianna, and it seems obvious where Mal-Kalen is.

 - What's this about Bentley Mirrorshade's custom script? Is it connected to the fact that in my current game he seems to sell only broken stuff and I can't get him to show his normal inventory? Which is particularly annoying since I'm also using one of the Gibberlings-3 mods that adds a couple of portable containers to the game, and his normal store - which I haven't worked out how to access - apparently contains a gem bag. What procedure needs to be followed to make him show his full inventory? (This is particularly important for newbies reaching the Friendly Arm Inn for the first time, who may need to get equipment for members of their party - unless the intention is to deprive them of any chance to buy equipment, e.g. a replacement weapon for one that broke in combat, before getting to Beregost.)

 - What good is correcting the name of Sarevok's sword when he is holding it for the whole game and you can't pick it up because the moment he dies, the game is over? Or is there somehow some way to acquire the sword off him while the game is still running?

 - Is there a bit more detail to be said about the Mysterious Vial quest? I've visited Taerom with a piece of corrupted iron and Thalantyr with the mysterious vial. Is this all, or is there some extra content payoff beyond this?

 - Restore Hentold's Dagger? I thought that was in the original game - he gave you the dagger and told you to go give it back to the revenant. What about it needed to be "restored"?

As I said, the items are not there in an unmodded BGII game. The Tutu items are called "_ringxx", for example, but the resource is not there in BGII - there is no file called "_ringxx", because there are no files with an underscore.

Sorry, but importing a character from a Tutu final game will leave you without a lot of BG1 items. In BGT, this problem doesn't exist (or at least not to that extend), as BGT handles the importing of BG1 items differently.

There is an own ring or wizardry in BGII that has the same item code as the one in BG1 (ring08), but it's not the same, but an upgraded version.

I am not sure what you mean with "in Tutu, when i try to import into BG2" - do you mean your Tutu final save into a BGII game? The normal BGII game doesn't know any of the Tutu items, so they wouldn't show up on an imported character.
You can pause the game before BG2 removes your items. Some of them are suspiciously missing. Actually, most of them are.
If you import from the original game it removes nothing, when i import from tutu items are missing.

As I said, the Tutu codes are the BGII ones with an underline "_" in front. Try cheating in "_potn37" (with the underline) and he'll recognize the potion in your inventory.

EDIT: The BGII-resources "work" in the game, too, meaning your party can use the potion and it will have the same effect, but the code in his dialogue checks for the Tutu one.

That explains it! I was mostly just curious, i don't think i have a save game to check it out though :/
Maybe you can answer a question i've been wondering about....Is it possible to obtain the BG1 ring of wizardry in Baldurs gate 2? Importing converts it (I assume that they share item codes...?)
Also, in Tutu, when i try to import into BG2 i can see that some items are *not* transferred...including some that should, like the chain mail +3 from the werewolf quest line.

You are playing Tutu, if I got it right. Did you cheat in with the right code? For Tutu, it would be "_potn37".

I used the Baldurs gate 2 item code. Afaik: Those are the ones that work in tutu.

And he keeps asking for it....Is there no way to give it to him? no rewards?

Sorry for the extreme necro-post, but I just want to clarify: these three quests...

  • Keelor and Nasha
  • Mal-Kalen, the Ulcaster Revenant
  • Svlast, the Fallen Paladin

...are NOT actually in the current (or any?) version of UB1, right?

No compatibility issues (I have the DVD version myself)...

Any compatibility issues known with the BG DVD version?
