If you choose BG2EE, some of the mods won't work for it(not sure about Level 1 NPCs, for example). There will be some engine changes and some extra content - a few new NPCs with their quests(but they're not nearly as detailed as Keto/other mod NPCs, very little dialogue). It's stable now, though - earlier versions had lots of bugs - and it has some nice perks, though you'll have to get used to the new interface/soundsets and such.

What's BGT?
It's Baldur's Gate Trilogy, the use of the BGT-weidu edition is recommended. The jist of the mod is that it allows you to get the BG1 content in the BG2 game, and play from the BG1's start area and level 1 to the end area of the BG2:ToB with 20+ level char, you need the BG1 install for it to actually to make the install, as the installer uses the BG1 files to make the adjustments to the BG2. There's a small difference between the BGT and Tutu, and that is that the BGT allows you a lot more game, while the Tutu needs to be either uninstalled, or used in another folder, it's due to a few technical things.

Oh, and those mods I mentioned(BG1 NPC, Tweaks, level 1 NPCs) - they're at forums.gibberlings3.net
And some other mods like Dace, Irenicus and Sarevok Friendship are at shsforums.net

Well, first and foremost, have you played BGT or EasyTutu or BGEE with BG1 NPC installed? *That's* what one should start with, I think.

Other than that, Widescreen, Level1NPCs and Tweaks are a must, I think.

Fixpack is an option. BG2EE(Enhanced Edition from Beamdog, includes Fixpack, or most of it) is an interesting option - they have momentary quicksaves, for one.

Other mods are up to the taste. I don't know which ones you'd like. Dace, Angelo, Irenicus from the Longer Road, Kivan, my Xan, Sarevok Friendship, Romantic Encounters, - well, quite a few quest mods on this very forum, too.  Read the readmes, listen to the voices and take your pick.

I would caution you against installing too many mods at once or dealing with a mega install after such a long period right away - chances are you'll be dealing with installation issues for quite a while, and getting some mods you don't like. But you can check it out later, when you're comfortable and know your way around.

Hi. I'm a fan of bg2 and played through some mods already. The time has come
to  play another go of this masterpiece. The problem is that I can't find my way around all these tons of mods.
I would ask what mods do you reccomend that I install, and if you can, the
Installation order so I won't have bugs...
My prefrences are:
I like new talkative npc's. I have done keto kelsey and sola so I don't want them.
I like the existing npc's a lot and new content for then will be cool. Done the
banter pack and the second familiar one...
I like new, high quality, not huge so you wont get too high level from them,  quests. The contrary of this
would be the one where you collect drizzt and friends and fight Entreri and Jarlaxle. No good I think...
I like challenging new encounters/difficulty increase but not insane ones... Tactics is a big no no but SCSII is great.
No power items but new ones are good.
I hate playing evil quests or npc's.

I am open for mods you think are good and does not go/does not relate with what I said above.

Thanks for helping this bg2 fan...
