Sorry, I tend to assume it's common knowledge because I deal with it every day: You can open it with a normal editor, like Notepad e.g.

I feel a little silly for having to ask (I bet the solution is really simple), but is there a specific program I need to download in order to be able to do that? When I click on them now I just get "Windows cannot open this file: SETUP-BG1UB.DEBUG"

--- EDIT: This component should install on whatever platform. Please post the content of your setup-bg1ub.DEBUG file.

I've got a somewhat similar issue. I've only installed BG: The Original Saga (into a new folder, 'C/Games/Baldur's Gate'), and have been trying to install it from in there. However, when I to run the .exe file, when i get the option to install the first mini-mod, The Mysterious Vial, the installation fails, and says "please install on BG, BGT, or TUTU."

As the mod does say it should work on BG: TOS, and I'm running it from inside my Baldur's Gate folder, I'm not quite sure what's going wrong.

Thank you for your help! I figured out what I was doing wrong: I had failed to run the BG1UB from inside my Baldur's Gate directory (I simply downloaded it and then tried to run it from inside my "downloads" folder). Anyways, it installed and is working now!

Yes, you can install BG1 UB for BG1. I've re-downloaded and looked the installlation code for you just to be sure.

There are also numerous other mods for BG1, like Jastey's BGQE and Ajantis' expansion, or my own Xan BG1 friendship.

If you want, I'd recommend you to backup your override directory, dialog.tlk, chitin.key and bgmain.exe before installing mods - this way you can do reinstalls quickly.

Hi there,

I just reinstalled Baldur's Gate 1 (the original) and the Tales Of The Sword Coast expansion pack. I was browsing for essential mods for the game, and came across this mod on multiple forums. My question is, will this mod work with the original Baldur's Gate and expansion BY THEMSELVES without Tutu or BG2? I tried to install the mod, and it was unable to find "DIALOG.TLK in dialog.tlk." Also, the executable told me I needed to run the game in my "Infinity Engine game directory." Anyways, the installation ended here, and was unable to finish.

The reason I was confused is because in the BG1:UB v. 13 ReadMe, it says "This edition is for BG1Tutu ("Tutu") and Baldur's Gate Trilogy ("BGT"), which port these games into the Baldur's Gate II engine." However, right above this is says "BG1 Unfinished Business ("BG1UB") is a WeiDU-based mod for Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast ("TOTSC"), and Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga ("TOS")." Kind of getting two messages here: either it's for any version of BG, or it is actually only for BG Tutu and the BG 2 engine.

The only mod I have installed is the G3 widescreen mod (v. 3.05). My BG version is 1.3.5512. The only patch I applied to my BG game was the 1.3.5512 patch and the DirectX multiplayer patch. I do not have any other Baldur's Gate games installed other than BG1.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
