Thank you very much for the files. My fault for giving you the wrong command in Total Commander, by the way: it should have been
weidu.exe BO#Xan.dlg

I'm sorry about that. But I've looked through your installation files, and your timers are totally fine. Can I ask you one more thing: do you have any .exe-related mods like Tobex? A TobEx.log file in your directory, maybe? (Because if you do, then I have to send you to Spellhold Studios - Tobex forum, since everything else seems to be all right).

If you have saved games with Xan still speed-talking and Xan totally silent, I'll be happy to look over them, too - e-mail me zipped folders(like 00000007-silentxan), if you want. But if you have Tobex, it's probably pretty useless.

I probably should try your installation at some point. But, listen: if you take entire override folder, bgmain.exe, chitin.key and dialog.tlk, zip it and send it to me to kulyok,
at yandex.ru, or just upload it somewhere and send me the link, you'll be doing me a big favor, seriously.

This game was a brand new installation, with nothing in it but the mods listed in my Weidu file. I'm still getting banters between Xan and other NPCs, and input when I run across new events or people so it seems to be working fine now. And yes I AM enjoying it :)

(At this point, you'll probably still have lots of banters with Xan - with the black dragon, with the Planar sphere, lots of banters after Spellhold and so on, even with this speed issue).

I would like to ask you, though - do you have Anomen in party, and if you do - are his lovetalks proceeding every ten minutes, too?

About Aegnor: there is a very long conversation you can witness if you stay silent. But whichever replies you essentially choose, they attack.

About Xan: getting him drunk does nothing to your game, trust me. As I mentioned, something happened to your installation that made Xan and Branwen talk much faster - and Xan has exhausted all of his flirts(and the counter turned off). That's why I asked you for the file. Hmm, maybe you can just zip your override folder and upload it to dropbox and send me the link, or e-mail it to me?

Also, are you sure that your installation is new and fresh and has no leftovers?

I have tried - but all I get is "File not found".

Since I started talking to you about this I followed the instructions outlined in the "How to get Xan drunk" thread. Not only has there been no chance to get him drunk, he's completely stopped flirting or cuddling with me - and he was doing that  at least 4 times an hour!

On a completely separate issue - is there any way to deal with Aegnor and his homicidal mates other than getting attacked by them immediately after the meeting?

Okay, here you go:
1) You open it.
2) In Total Commander, command string is right above buttons F3 View F4 Edit F5 Copy(they are below everything)
3) No, it's totally okay, because the command only copies a file.
4) Your game will not become any less safer.

However, here is another bit of advice(AFTER you have delivered the file to me): it's possible that your installation got scrambled somehow - timers from older mods interfered, or something like that. A full reinstall with a new game restores it, usually. Or was it a completely new install with a new game for you?

A few more questions for you just so I am absolutely clear.

1/. Do I choose the BG2-SOA folder so it appears on its own, or do I open it?

2/. Where to I find the command string?

3/. Do I need to backup any copies of files before I do this?

4/. After I have done the weidu BO#Xan.dlg commands and copied BO#Xan.d, do I need to do anything so I can play the game safely?

Thank you very much for your efforts. Let us try together:

1) Do you have Weidu.exe in your Bg2 directory? You should have it.
2) Do you have Xan installed? You should have Xan installed.
3) If you have Total commander, open it. Choose, C:\ in the left half of Total Commander, then choose the folder Program Files (x86), then choose the folder Black Isle, then choose BGII-SoA.
4) The cursor must be in the left half of Total Commander. Is it there?
5) If it is, then go to the command string and type
weidu BO#Xan.dlg
6) You should have BO#Xan.d in your BG2 directory now. E-mail it to me at kulyok,
at yandex.ru

Does it help?

Sorry about the delays ... we are trying (that's me and Mr kiwidoc as well)

The file directory for my game is ...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA

First we opened the cmd window. We couldn't get it to recognise the file path.
Next we downloaded Total Commander. Neither of us have seen this before, let alone used it. I installed this in C:. We weren't sure what to do, I tried opening the command prompt window in Total Commander - but this would not recognise the file path either.

Although Mr kiwidoc works in home based IT help, he is totally unfamiliar with Weidu, and with the BG games. We are struggling here and I don't want to wreck my game as I have invested many hours in it. What would you advise we do next?

Then I won't be able to discover what the issue is, if I don't get the files.

The situation hasn't changed - you've simply ran through the time-related banters ten times faster than in a normal game, and only situation-related ones are left.

Sorry it's been so long before I replied. I do get lots of periods of illness, when my brain doesn't work well enough to play BG2 :( I haven't got the files for you because the situation has changed. I followed the advice in the "How to get Xan drunk thread". Since then Xan hasn't been chatting with me or flirting at all! I've slept in an inn, gone through a few days game time, and a few hours in real time with no interaction from him at all.

To run the commands, you can open Total Commander or Free Commander in your BG2 directory(where weidu.exe is, where all other game files are), and then type the command.

You can also run cmd(command window) and run
cd..
commands until you're in C:\ directory, then create your path(if your game is in c:\games\bgii, then
cd games\
cd bgii\
And then use
weidu BO#Xan.dlg
weidu O#BranJ.dlg
(both mods should be installed)

I'll rename the exe for you but - pardon my ignorance  :-[ - what do I have to do to run the two weidy commands?

The actual chats are coming as often as four times an hour - even with plenty of pauses. Sometimes it feels as if I get one of the Xan looks at me sequences every 5 minutes. He doesn't even wait till a battle is officially over - the split second the last enemy begins to fall over dead he's in there with a "look"

Thank you for reporting! Hmm. I've heard these reports once before and I'm really not sure why it is happening. Xan's conversations should happen every fifty minutes, and Branwen's - every hour. By your words, it isn't happening.
How often are they happening - every minute, every five minutes, every fifteen minutes? There's no stutter bug for either one of them, no?

Okay, can I ask you to do this: rename Setup-Xan.exe to Weidu.exe, and run this command:
weidu BO#Xan.dlg
weidu O#BranJ.dlg
And then send me two files: BO#Xan.d and O#BranJ.d  -either give me the links or e-mail them at kulyok,
at yandex.ru
