Thanks! I'm having trouble installing easytutu though... where should i go to ask about that or find a walkthrough? I have the tutu setup in my BG1 program folder, but it says I don't have SoA or ToB installed, which I do. Is it looking for them in a specific place, or is there a way for me to tell it where to look? Or is there a better forum I could ask that in, if this one isn't appropriate?
You don't want to do that, what you should do is run the EasyTutu_ToB.exe, let it make it's temporary folder somewhere like C:\Games\Temp\ , then as it runs further, it will ask the BG1 directory and the BG2 directory, so you give them, and then point to the Tutu game folder(don't use the space saver option), so make that the C:\Games\EasyTutu\ . Yes, there's a choice that's to make to use either of the already existing games folders, but I assure you you don't want to do that, as you can then just uninstall the BG1 or BG2 and save more space on your hard drive. And then you can go and delete the Temp folder too.

I suspect there is an ".ini" file someplace. Open that in Notepad or a text editor, you should find some answers.
I frequent other forums: Bioware Social and Boards of Magic, they seem a bit more alive than this one. You can try the Tutu forums here, they seem to be still there.

Gotta love those error messages!
"An Assertion failedi n ChDimm.cpp at line number 628"
That is meaningless to us because we don't have the source code files for the game.
"Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:Data\Hd0GMosc.bif"
Better check this file is in the folder indicated. It is 1,374 KB in size.

BG 1 is working fine now, but I can't seem to uninstall BG 2 to reinstall it. It could be that I'm an idiot and don't understand Windows 7 too well yet, though.

The error message seems different now, and I didn't change anything to do with BG2 unless reinstalling BG 1 did it. The new error message is

An Assertion failedi n ChDimm.cpp at line number 628
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:Data\Hd0GMosc.bif

...
Well, you probably have to reinstall the games, uninstall the games using the Control Panel, then go and remove the game directory, make sure they each have their own directory, for example in the "games" -directory(so they are in C:\Games\<game directory>), not in a Program Files sub-directory, and install the full/custom installs with every box checked. After the install is made, open the game directory and the file called baldur.ini, and make sure the first [Alias] directory point to the current location in the BG1 game, and all the lines point to the BG2 directory or the CDx folders in the BG2 games baldur.ini .

Go into Windows Explorer and check your BG1 install folder for the SFXSound.bif file.
The order in which each mod is installed may create conflicts, I don't know much about mods.

Installed both BG1 and BG2 with expansions, intending to add Tutu and other mods. But while both games seemed to install okay, they won't actually run.

BG 1 gives me this error message:
An Assertion failed in D:\Dev\chitin\ChDimm.cpp at line number 581
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data\SFXSound.bif

Throne of Bhaal makes me configure it, then me this:

-1 (that's the entire error message)

and then

An Assertion failed in CHDimm.cpp at line number 834

Is something about Windows 7 unhappy with these games? do i need to get patches for either/both? I'd really appreciate some help.
