Uhm, I've had the trial version for years and it works fine. It asks you to upgrade, yes, but it works just fine if you click "close" and otherwise ignore the message.
Claiming you don't have the "technical ability" is a lie, though. If the programme offers a way to go on using it that even an idiot can figure out in under to minutes, their problem. It's not like you're hax0ring it or anything.
Actually I kind of respect their approach. They don't force you to get a licence, they just make you feel bad... worked on me, anyway!
