No, you're just overwriting (I'm guessing that was in the original author's work).

The above is designed to accomplish the same except without trashing the file when SCSII or something comes along; I left in the pointless parts just in case you're using the tracking stat. detectable effects?

I think someone coded a fixpack-compatible version of the hell trials scripting, too.
