« on: April 10, 2007, 12:36:04 PM »I had this same problem with the staff and didn't really catch it until I reached a battle where Jaheira's AI would always make her go for her melee weapon (using her primarily with a ranged weapon) and I couldn't advance due to the assertion error. Seems like the main source of the problem is the fact that its a one handed staff weapon and this is incompatible with the two handed animation of the regular staff animation (maybe, just a guess based on what I did to solve the issue).
I was able to fix it with Near Infinity by searching and comparing the other 1 handed staff weapon in the game I know about, the Staff Mace (STAF06.ITM) and trying to figure out how to edit U#HFSWS.ITM so it uses the same mace attack animation which worked for me without any further incidents. All I had to do was delete the 'extra' set item color "Global Effect" that the Whispering Staff had compared to the Staff Mace and that seems to have solved the assertion error and it now looks like a mace when equipped. I really have no idea why it worked though .
