having him just loose it when he see's yoshimo. like you walk into the coronet and he yells out YOU! and puts  two quick arrows at his hips. doing the pinned shot. so basically he is stapled to the railing he is close to. then maybe ask for permission to kill yoshimo.

anyway. i basically sick of playing through the game as a good guy. i'd really like an npc to fly off the handle and jsut wail on something.

Cailen and Valygar could argue about something like being mistrustful of others. They've both been on the run and all, so they can identity with each other on that, but while Valygar is distant and secretive Cailean may be more willing to trust and love and all that.
Unless Cailean isn't like that at all. Then that wouldn't really work.

Others could interject in that one and it could become pretty interesting. Especially is Jaheria said something. She's always got something cool to say.

If Cailean is cold and distant like Valygar, they could talk about it together and maybe someone else could interject, disagreeing with them.

Could be interesting.

*pokes head out*  Hello!  Just discovered this place recently...  This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. ^_^

Take the idea and get an opening line. "Wow, Valygar, did you see the size of that hoofprint? I'd hate to meet the monster attached to that!"

The conversation evolves from there.

(I know this wasn't serious, so I *had* to reply.) The only thing I can think of Valygar saying would sound like, "That monster is commonly known as a horse."

And I *can't* see it evolving in any way that doesn't involve a joke on poor Valygar. ^^'

*pulls out bright blue lawnchair and goes back to hiding in the shadows (somehow with the lawnchair and all)*

No worries.  We do appreciate all the encouragement.  I just finished a talk today so we're that much closer.

Oh, jeez. The last thing I wanted to do was to imply that you guys need any kind of instruction! I was aiming that at people who wanted to help but had no idea how!

I'm so looking forward to Cailean. :-*

Thanks for the suggestions, Wynne.

To berelinde/BGhead: Also, thanks for the instructions.  We've been working on this for quite awhile now and have both banters and flirts but were hoping for just a few more to make the mod a bit more complete?  weighty?  full?  What's the word I'm racking my brains for?  Anyhoo...

I am trying very hard to think, but I keep getting distracted by this shiny part:

We are in a final push to get Cailean out

And the utter inward SQUEALING it induces.

*tries to actually be useful in some fashion* Hmm... well, some of my favorite flirts are actually the ones that don't involve touching. There's a certain sort of smile or look between people that just goes on a little too long, or is a little too sweet... where you feel and sense an understanding that requires neither words nor tactile communication. You could just sort of look at each other all day--you won't, at first, when it's just a sort of deliciously subtle possibility hovering in the air, but once it's out in the open, it just feels so nice to stare and feel like idiots, but be so warm and happy.

And I also love dementedly cute pet names that embarrass a man, that you adopt only once you're well and truly together. The sort he refuses to let you call him at first, then just refuses to let you call him that in front of people, and finally gets so used to it despite his initial vast resistance that he starts calling HIMSELF that even around his family, simultaneously horrifying and amusing the both of you. Cailean, to me, just seems the sort of guy who needs one of those. ;)

Well, maybe not to that extent. But there should be some sort of dementedly cute pet name you can call him. "My widdle wuv mephit"? Er... I should really let you think of that one, if you decide on it. *blushes*

*Firmly sitting on my hands so I don't accidentally volunteer for something again.*

Just a few general things, mostly to help readers who haven't written banters but might want to give it a try.

First, mostly pointed at the modders, how many banters do you want for each NPC. Make it as specific as possible. If you want 4 for Aerie, 2 for Minsc, and 8 for Jaheira (although heaven knows why you would want that many for anyone), make a list. How many are already written.

For anyone else: think about the overall relationship between Cailean and the NPC. What would they have to talk about? How much of this material has been abundantly covered by other mods? For example, Valygar's distrust of magic is covered at great length. You don't need to go there again. What else might he and Cailean talk about? Maybe they both share a distrust of horses (so what if it isn't in the game already).

Take the idea and get an opening line. "Wow, Valygar, did you see the size of that hoofprint? I'd hate to meet the monster attached to that!"

The conversation evolves from there. Sometimes, it evolves in a way you never thought it would when you sat down to write. With the utterly lame first line I gave above, it might stay more or less linear and end with something like Valygar remarking that he never had to shovel up after his feet, or it might take off in a completely different direction, after following a couple tangential connections. Conversation is like that.

Banters don't have to be essential to the story of either NPC to be entertaining. In fact, as this is probably covered elsewhere, it's probably best if they're not.

I'd volunteer a few, but I'm already approaching over-commitment, and I haven't read enough about Cailean to say anything about his personality. Which makes me feel like a jerk. :-[

You mentioned in the NPC reactions thread that Cailean and Jan might get together to play a practical joke on PC. I think this is a great idea. Perhaps the PC can also approach Cailean about getting back at Jan? Or approach Jan about getting back at Caliean. Either way works, but I think for the purpose of the mod, the former would be better. Especially if Jan is the instigator in this.

We are in a final push to get Cailean out and we need your help!  Any serious ideas for banters with other NPCs and/or Cailean/PC flirts are welcome.  Either post here or PM us (if you want to keep it TOP SEKRIT).
