If you don't have both bg1data and bg1movies directories in the main TuTu-ed folder, the conversion is not (yet) complete. The final step of the conversion involves moving or duplicating these files from the bg1 installation, so it sounds like something went awry in your case. A workaround with symbolic links like you've detailed should work just fine, however I wouldn't be surprised if other issues surface with such a conversion - the TuTu-ing process itself may have been stalled before it could be properly completed.

(Please excuse me digging up a six weeks old thread...)

I’ve had troubles applying the »tutufix v15«-patch: the GUI installer worked fine, only Loriel’s 1st-level character patch didn’t work because i didn’t have a folder called »bg1data«. BGTutu 4 didn’t provide one.

Solution: making a Unix symbolic link. In terminal, go to (cd) your BG2-directory. Here you type
ln -s {your BG1 or ToSC/Game Data/data directory} bg1data
The fix/patch will be installed now.
