I've heard talk of an alternate version of NI - the latest on SourceForge seems to be NearInfinity-1.33b19-1 2006-07-19.  Anyone have anything more recent?  Also I'm having trouble finding documentation or a changelog between this and the last author-released version (which I think was 1.32).

I know it's been a month since the last post, but this is a new forum and I've been away awhile.

NWN support is mostly limited to browsing, but the string editor will edit the game's text just fine.

Edit: I just noticed you have the latest beta on sourceforge. (Was going to say you weren't missing much.)

WHAT?!?!? I've already become steeped in politics?  *sigh* Well, maybe I should've done more "research".

But thank you for hosting the forum here.  I'll try to keep more than one channel of communication open.  There's always e-mail.

That would seem to be a limitation of igi, not of the Near Infinity forum.
friendly as ever :)

But here's good, too! :)
Doesn't igi still refuse to come here? Maybe not so good...

I'd rather not have to register somewhere else... ;)

I guess I could, though, if you guys plan on using the forum there a lot.
SourceForge should allow anonymous posting.

It wouldn't let me start a new thread when I went to the site (unless there was something I missed); it required me to login or register.

But here's good, too! :)

Just a quick moderator request: can someone move this thread to the NI forum if/when that comes into existence?  I feel guilty taking up WeiDU space with this stuff.

Also, just a quick announcement for anyone tracking this: I've updated the release on SourceForge to JOH's 1.33b19 version + my IWD changes.

I guess ppg, g3 and teambg are all possible.
I'm working on getting a forum here on PPG.  It seems like NI and WeiDU should be maintained in the same place :)

Some good news: I got a message from JOH and he's very happy to see a SourceForge project for NearInfinity.  That together with a newer version of NI put some steam in the project.

I agree that the SF forum software looks  like it pretty much blows (compared to SMF here and other versions of YaBB).

So that leaves an open question: where should the NearInfinity forum be?  Who wants to host it?

You definitely didn't look at the gemrb forum on G3 with the associated gemrb project on SF :)
Otherwise you would have seen how deserted is the forum on SF, while it is working on G3.
There are many services of SF and most of them (if not all) are optional.

[edit]
in plain words, i don't think you should give up this forum.
[edit2]
SF allows anonymous bug reporting, i don't know what their forum allows, but it is utterly irrelevant.

We certainly don't have to use the forum there.  The primary purpose of SourceForge from my point of view is version/revision control (CVS) and release distribution.  We could use the bug tracking system there which might be a good idea, but there's not requirement to use the SF forums (I think a lot of people don't).

NearInfinity doesn't have a forum of it's own that I know of, so that's up in the air.
