I'm not sure if you are a modder, but we can safely agree that, with the exception of Bons (heh), most of us would prefer it if whoever wanted to make changes to our Mod come to ask. I for one would be very glad to entertain PMs on typos in my Mod, and grammar errors, and improving characterisations of Bioware NPCs.
If I didn't make it clear that I would
prefer people to communicate with me and get my permission, otherwise they are risking my wrath, then I need to revise my statement.
It's just my wrath would not include BANING.
They will also register once they realize that they cannot edit their posts as guests.
Yes, this is a good limitation which may encourage guests to register. My point was that some limitations are needed to make a meaningful difference between members and guests to encourage people to join and to make them potential members.
This isn't really a conscious choice to encourage guests to join. I think it's a matter of security. Members can only edit their own posts. With guests, you run into the problem of matching which posts they wrote with permissions. Essentially, for guests to be able to edit their posts, they'd also be able to edit the posts of other people, which really is anarchy.
