Ghrey?  Any thoughts on what I wrote about those Rebalanced Weapon Proficiencies (three posts up)?

I'll wait to see what you come up with, since all I can do anyway is be patient.  Thanks again.

Bigg: Have you any thoughts on what you're going to do? Maybe you have some numbers you could post for us to see (just out of interest)?
Well, I was going to discuss them in Refinements' e-mail listing, although you may try `poking' Littiz and TGM by posting in the Armor Revision thread (they don't really read PPG, and this is a bit off-topic for AoE, since it regards Ref.)

Ghrey and Bigg:  Thank you both for agreeing to make things work between AoE and Refs.

Ghrey:  I don't know if the Rebalanced Weapon Proficiencies are actually in effect once AoE is installed after G3 Tweaks.  I didn't have a chance to test it and I've had to uninstall the game for the time being (space issues).  I do know that the descriptions were reset to pre-Rebalanced Weapon Proficiencies once AoE was installed.  I was wondering if you could implement this component into your mod (with G3 permission) so that I can then install them as part of AoE (rather than as part of G3 Tweaks) and therefore use Rebalanced Weapon Proficiencies with AoE.  I hope that made sense.  If not, it's not a big deal; I'll just play without Rebalanced Weapon Proficiencies.

Yeah, but I can't have dex affect your THAC0, so the dex requirement is to keep you from cutting your thumb off, or smashing your own nose in.
Normally I would say that only in Fantozzi comic movies this could happen, but having just read RTW dialogues all day I'm not so sure  :-/
Anyway, very little weapons would have such a potential to harm yourself (apart maybe from flails), unless you lose your grip or put too much balance in the sword - something that IMHO it's more related to training rather than pure dex.
Well, unless you were doing that on purpose, but let's forget about similar possibilities  :)

I do feel that dex requirements for weapons and stuff aren't really quite right. It doesn't take dex to pick up a sword. The dexterity's in actually hitting anybody, and that's THAC0...

I recall thinking about tweaking dexterity in armour, and adding damage resistance to it, once upon a time, but it became for too complicated to worry about.

Anyways, yeah, feel free to do in your mod to my mod whatever you feel.

Re: Armour DEX penalties and Refinements, what am I supposed to do exactly? That's a long thread.
Well, we'd need you to revise the DEX requiresment and make them somewhat smaller, since characters may be expected to lose up to 7 points of dexterity (according to the armor they wear). The player should take care not to lose 7 points, however right now low-dex people have trouble wearing any armour (in particular Anomen and Keldorn).

Of course, if you prefer to leave the dex requiresment as they are now, I'll tweak them on Refinements' side (with your permission of course), otherwise I'll post proposed changes.

Okay, so regarding the G3Tweaks one, does it actually not work, or are the descriptions just wrong?

I probably got it, read it, then forgot about it a few days later.  Sorry.  I'm just going to go re-read it. :)

Cheers Ghrey.  Always nice to see an update to this mod.

OT did you get the PM I sent about a week ago?

Cynics skeptical.  FBI tight-lipped.

Eyewitness reports from the scene are a bit jumbled at this point in time, but it is believed that the newest version of AoE includes some minor bug fixes.  Scientists speculate that these include:

  • Katars and Bolas are no longer missing their graphics
  • Fixed Kuo-toan bolts so they don't mung up installations
  • Monk proficiencies aren't out of order
