Ah, whew, I thought it was intentional.  Some of my favourite gaming memories are having to do stuff like that (see all the fun you reloaders are missing?).

Making StF scrolls very rare takes away some roleplaying, for example;

1. When you enter the Red Wizard forest from the west, you are immediately confronted with a Lesser Basilisk. This is a good touch, I like it. Before I could retreat off the map, Branwen got petrified. I would have liked to roleplay this by going to get a StF scroll and memorizing Prot. from Petrification before going back in there to rescue Branwen. However, you can't do this because THERE ARE NO StF SCROLLS!!

2. Rescueing Tameh is also a good roleplay, but then again, there are no scrolls.
