Dog fighting will lower Virtue in the next release. Regardless of social circumstance, it's fairly clear that causing innocent things to suffer is evil.

Except in all the screamingly obvious ways in which it looks nothing like 13th century Europe.

Faerun is like 13th century Europe in: technology, government.  It's unlike 13th century Europe in: gender equality, acceptance of sexuality in general, religions, magic.  I see little ambiguity about which of these columns "ethics" goes in.

It has a lot more to do with Virtue than Irenicus has. This mod represents a standard of good and evil under which the actions of the PCs are judged. I am saying that this standard should not be too modern, since it is a game where we are trying to think and act like characters living in a world which roughly looks like 13th century Europe.

...okay.  So?  What does that have to do with Virtue?  Irenicus doesn't have a Virtue of 20, despite not seeing anything wrong with his actions.

I do not recall claiming that it only applied to NPCs. This is also about how a PC views his or her own actions.

How the people within the game view it is a matter for Reputation, not Virtue.

It is evil I thinky, yes, I do believe it is. :)

Within the world of the game? :) Why a difference? :D It's entirely disgusting. :)

Yes, that is my point. We might find it disgusting but those living within the world of the game may view it differently. The game is not set in a modern world and the definitions of what is good and evil, human and inhuman will differ from ours. Have you noticed how common it is to kill other people in the game?

I agree that it would be very inappropriate for rangers and druids to sponsor such a fight but I do not think it should make virtue fall for the other classes. Some may consider it evil from a modern perspective but within the world of the game, I do not think it is.

And Jaheira and Minsc, at the least, already complain about it, missus neriana. Which is good, meow. :) Errr, but that made it even stranger when I looked for a virtue penalty and... didn't see one. ;_;

Edit: And if there are seriously some people who don't think it should lower virtue, I will be depressed with people in general. :(

I'm with Gospel on this one. Sponsoring a dog fight should lower virtue. If you're a ranger or druid it should make you "fall". Valygar, Minsc, Jaheira, Cernd, and any other ranger or druid in the party, should get extremely angry, at least, though that's probably not in the scope of this mod.

Sponsoring a dog fight doesn't seem to lower virtue, meow. ;_;
