Thank you all,  I worked it out eventually (like I said I shouldn't have got out of bed)
i had left not modded for a while prefering to laze around and
do dialogues but I think I will have another go at it.
(everyone take cover, rubbish code approaching!)

Or, you can add it to your environment's path.  This is what I do.  It's useful because you can use WeiDU from any directory that way.

I think you have to manually move the weidu.exe from the WeiDU directory to the bg2 main directory.

You know those days when you shouldn't get out of bed?
Re-installed BG2, latest patch
TOB+latest patch
Got Weidu version 128
went into DOS-Prompt
changed working line to
C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\
then
endered DOS
working line came up correctly as
C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\]
 and typed weidu SCSARLES.DLG
and all I got was Bad command or file name
my brain is working very slowly today Help.
