Stopping the banter via the global variable settings has indeed stopped the crashes. I suppose that's a good thing. I wish I could hear Sola's banter however.  It doesn't feel like he's integrated into the party.

OK, I have a zipped saved game ready to send to you but can't figure out how to attach it using the forum messenger system.

I am very curious about Sola's banters and would ideally like to play with them active. I'll turn off the banter variable if absolutely necessary but would rather find a better solution. As always, any help is great appreciated.

Grr. Would you be willing to send me a zip of a saved game where force-talking Sola causes the game to crash? (I've probably already asked you for this, actually).

Sola has two banters with every NPC. It looks like the game is crashing when he is trying to banter. You can probably eliminate this problem (at the expense of not seeing the banters) by doing:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("SolaDoneBanter","GLOBAL",3)

Keep us posted.

I just realized something else.  Sola has never bantered with anyone else in the party. He is supposed to do that isn't he? I've been playing for quite some time and have had about 10 conversations with him by now. When will he start bantering?

Still no word from Wes with regards to the global variable settings I need to change in order to fix my problem. I'm still hoping though.  :(

Test completed.

Your prediction was correct. No crash when only Sola and myslef are in the party.

Also, no crash with Sola, myself and one other member. (3 total)

Crashes resume when I reach a party of 4.

Try this test:

Kick everyone but Sola out of your party, and then talk to him explicitly. Prediction: this time the game will not crash.

If you have a minute or two, see if you can find the smallest party such that Sola bantering crashes the game.

Let me know how it goes. If my prediction above is correct, I can give you a bunch of global variables that will stop the crashes (CLUAConsole or ShadowKeeper).

Well, Sola is talking again but sure enough, the program predictably crashes shortly after each dialogue with him. I'm getting into the habit of saving right after I speak with him but I'd love a better solution.

check the version number

the latest versions will not have a problem....

but the earlier versions, when you leave with the eggs, a second sola will spawn...cntr-y the second sola outside of ust natha who tries to join you, and you will be fine..

Byt he time I read your post I had already completed the maze. Sola talked to me in the Underdark (spiders!) and the program did not crash. It still crashes if I attempt to initiate anything with him (guess I'll have to play hard to get in this romance).  If any more unexplained crashes happen I will kick him out as you suggested, and then ask him back.

BTW, is everything going to be OK with Sola in the Underdark? I read somewhere that I have to do something about his "clone".

They would happen if I started dialouge or had him in my part for a period of time. I figured this out later in the game, just trust me. I don't want to say a spoiler. You just tell him to wait there, wander around with out him for a bit (don't finish the maze with out him of course), come back and pick him up.  Play until the game crashes again then load the closest save and kick him out, and pick him back up. The relationship will still be okay. The lovely drow takes so much abuse. :D

I'm playing SoA and don't have ToB. Did your crashes only happen when you initiated dialogue with him or at other times as well? What does kicking him out do exactly? Does he continue to initiate his own dialogues with you after that?

Are you playing with ToB or with SoA? I had this problem all the time with SoA. I used to kick him out for a bit (Don't worry, the romance still goes on) and I don't talk to him. When I installed ToB things seem to calm down a bit. Still not 100% sure.

No other mods. I have the official Bioware patch and the Baldurdash fix it patch.
Well, there went my only theory :) I'm sure someone else can come up with a solution though!
