It was intended to be the voice of speculation, but experience works.

Ah... so speaks the voice of experience.   ;)

Darlin', you know it could be much worse. :)

I may have mislead you here. Kelsey isn't a "college student" because of his vocabulary. He's a "college student" because I like ribbing Jason about Lisa's article.

It haunts me!  IT HAUNTS ME!

Hi all, I spend the weekend on a very intensive BG2 trip (15+ hours a day(night), and I have experienced a LOT great gaming and I sure have a LOT to say. Let me just finish the topic here from my point of view:

Having played most part of the Mod (I did not get the eclipse party yet, last position is shortly after the "shut up and kiss me"), it seems that I got the "worst" parts of it in the beginning, ie. some MONOlogues. It "has improved" a lot from then, as seen from my personal "timeline", so that I can say that most part of are DIAlogues, and are really O.K.

Not that I have nothing to criticize anymore...   ... I just don´t know how to strucure my input right now ... well, see future other topic...

If Kelsey asked "Does she have an intended?" ... doesn't work.

Ugh.  No, it doesn't.
I think that there really *are* possible different lines for "boy-friend".

I would suggest, too, that the line be cut out of the starting dialogue and placed in somewhere later. Or, there could be sort of a concurrence romance starting, like between Aeri and Haer Dalis. But, as I am not at the ToB part, that idea would probably overlap with what happens later.

Well, I belong to a profession which deals with fossils. One version too early...should have waited another day or so, I guess.  I updated reluctantly from 42 because of the promissed conflict between the leading males. *Sighs* Promise, it won't give me my fourth Solaufein at the Fate Spirit? Last time there were 3, one of them - Kelsey...

Domi, I don't know where you dug up that fossil (v62), but upgade now! v62 is so June 29th. :-)

Seriously now. Those new version numbers do tend to correspond to bug fixes.  You're also missing all of Sola's interjections (added in v63).

v63 also claimed to fixup some of the dialogue loop avoidance code. Looks like you were just one version too early.

Oh, I when I was reading Lisa's article I thought that her immersion was hurt deeper than by the image. Yep, I was also uncomfortable playing with an NPC, who has JC's voice, pic and writing. So I switched the portrait until they did not come up with the new version which is less JC-ish.

Or, and I have been talking to my friend, and I really really liked her comment about Solaufein:

"Can you believe I changed the guy's alignament to Lawful Good? As I am an Evil character he starts out Chaotic Neutral, but as the romance progressed, he turned good because of my responses...Goddamn! at the end, he was going on about the lessons of wisdom and compassion learned at my side...PHEW!"

Well, my understanding was that Kelsey was originally labled by Lisa as a college student due to his speach. Otherwise I am lost. What, he casts like a college student? Or he dyes his hair red and wears purple cloak in a manner a college student would should he be teleported to FR?
No, no. You see, Kelsey's portrait was designed using an altered photo of jcompton. Lisa assumed jcompton was a college student - though he's actually much older. Hence, she had a line in her article that suddenly, her party consisted of fighter, cleric, thief and college student.

For the parts of the conversations where multiple interesting opinions occurred to me at the time, there are more than two branches. Summoning=Slavery has 3, Born-With-Evil has 4, Hand-In-Fire has 5, Take-My-Hand has 6, etc.

I understand that and I am looking forward to it.

If you saw this comment more than once per game:

@192 = ~Come, CHARNAME, and walk beside me beneath the leaves.~

... there was a serious bug somewhere. It should show up exactly once, total. Can you describe in more detail what happened?

Ahem... It repeated couple of times,  when going from forest to forest (Tethyr + North+Small Teeth Path). Plus it overlayed with the spider nightmare, so I have to re-load couple of times, so I got to listen it few times and it lost the charm of novelty rather quickly. Since I still run v62 I am not sure I should be complaining about buggs.

WW already tries to cut down on number of available options generally going for 2 choices, not customary in-game 3 (good girl, bad girl, funny girl) or more. As a player you see 1/4 to 1/3 of the full dialogue (unless you are a student of WW/JC and pour over the d-files).

I am sure WW meant well, inserting the comment about walking under the leaves. He did not mean for me to scream when I saw it for the fifth time in the row and he could not have an option I craved -  to tell Sola to go hung
himself on a branch under the leaves.

Kelsey is no more of a college student than Cernd, Valygar, Imoen or Jaheira for example, they all use rather "normal" language. Besides, BG2 is the translation from Common tongue anyway...

You could just reuse (slightly modified) Kelsey's "So, is there anyone, you know  special, in her life?" line.  It's not like a male PC would (generally) see that line anyhow.
Which would not sound to my screwed up ESL ear any less modern than "does she have a boyfriend?"  :)

...or you could rework the situation so that the expression of interest comes up after (or during) the dialogue where Kelsey asks CharName about how special Imoen is, so that we don't have the current situation where Kelsey, before asking anything else about a woman he knows absolutely nothing about and hasn't even gotten a good look at, asks if she's available, leading me to brand him with the word "desperate."
