HANDLE_CHARSETS and Russian language
« on: November 10, 2014, 09:49:32 AM »
So, HANDLE_CHARSETS is a nice function that works really good for our mods - Tiax in French is a living proof.
(I hope that our Italian, German, Spanish and Polish friends, as well as players from other countries, do enjoy playing their mods for BG2EE in their own language, too - unfortunately, I haven't tested everything).

However, I can't for the life of me get the same result for Russian language - neither Xan nor Tiax show anything but punctuation even after the update.

Um... help? :)

Hmm, you need the permian font to display the Russian language...

You can download them from here: http://www.whiteagnus.de/downloads/fonts-Permian.rar

Put the files in the lang\ru_RU\Fonts folder and add the following line in your baldur.ini

Code: [Select]
'Fonts', 'ru_RU', 'PERMIAN',
(I don't know if there is a Russian translation already done for BG[2]:EE, but you could also use en_US instead of ru_RU to test the font. ;))

Here are to screenshots (with and without the Permian font):

(And no, I can't read anything on the first screenshot... :D)

Oh wow! That's great! I will experiment with this on my install, thank you!
