« on: December 01, 2006, 10:01:40 AM »
After a wait that was entirely too long, v4 of BG1UB is now here, and resolves those frustrating issues that you were wishing to have fixed!

NEW ADDITIONS
    * Item Corrections and Restorations now restore numerous unused item graphics

CHANGES
    * Edited Arkion's dialog so he recognizes the noble's body
    * Assigned the Halfling Enforcers a script allowing them to initiate dialogue
    * Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise no longer show up in Tazok's tent
    * Drastically reduced the availability of Bolts of Polymorphing
    * Reduced the availability of restored high-level scrolls

BUGFIXES
    * Racial immunities no longer crash the game in some situations
    * The Scar component should now install correctly
    * Safana's Flirt ability is no longer erroneously assigned to rangers
    * Resolved issue which would prevent Avarice from reappearing correctly
    * Fixed a bug involving Alvahendar's store in Gullykin
    * Fixed wrong gold amount given in Edie quest
    * Removed Corianna's script to initiate dialogue which could prevent the game from being saved while in the area
    * Bunsen's dialogue responses are no longer duplicated

That's kool and the *gang*!  Mind if we run it through the BG1-Tutu/BGT converter? :D

Er... I suppose I should test it on vanilla BG1 first.  But it's so... freaking... slow... :-Zzz

Won't work. Do not do this.

Whoops.  Too late... already did and played through the whole thing with Tutu - no problems with it whatsoever!*

Didn't say I was going to do it, or that it works in one go, but it does accelerate things significantly from my work on other mod conversions.  Am I to understand you have a Tutu version in progress already?

* An obvious jest

Icelus started working on one, Ascension has provided me with a converted copy. But the problem is that Tutu doesn't convert unused resources, so I have to manually package everything BG1UB needs. This takes ages no matter where you start from.

I'm eagerly awaiting the eventual Tutu release. I know it's a pain, but it won't take forever...  ;)

Uh, 'ages'? Simply working out what resources are missing shouldn't be that difficult, and once you work that out (takes time but no skill), you simply need to extract the necessary resources from BG1, convert them to Tutu (easy with PCU), then add some lines to .tp2 to copy them over before patch. Unless you had something else in mind.

There are a lot of dependencies to look through. BG1UB might simply restore a CRE to an area, but porting to Tutu I have to examine that creature and identify scripts, dialogues, soundsets, etc. which might also have not been converted. Like you say, time but no skill.

Hey, if it takes time but no skill, sign me up too.  Especially if it frees Sim up to work on revisions for DEF JAM, QuestPack, etc. ;)  Perhaps we could "divide and conquer" the necessary manual work?

Can't you just install BG1UB, run Tutu on it, and compare the override directory you get to the one you'd get if you run Tutu on vanilla BG1?

Yes that is one way that it could be done. I have completed it another way, by simply using PCU to convert, and looking for the resource names not converted in the .tp2...and within 3 hours of working on this, I've identified all the missing files and restored them in the installation. Current progress is a flawless install on Tutu. The only thing that needs to be worked out is the StrRefs of the CREs and it should be ready for testing.

Nope. However, it can also easily be done with PCU.

@SimDing0: Any arguments against testing this version?

If you are interesting in testing BG1UB v4 for Tutu, please PM me. I would prefer people who can work out where the new content is and test directly, but not essential. Thanks.

Yahoo!

Anyway, a quick Dudleyfix question:
Does this mod overwrite the DIALOG.TLK file?  It seems a lot of the Dudleyfix files are tied into this and would maybe be  problematic if it is overwritten.

Also, I've spotted some talk about not being able to get to Ulgoth's Beard with the Dudleyfix installed.  I'm hoping I still can get to it with all the fixes in place!

Anyway my install plan is:
Baldurdash BG1FixPack11
all Dudleyfix's installed individually (not competed packs)
some of the Dudleyfix tweaks
BG1UB v4

Ascension had asked for it to be hosted here...
OK, due to a lack of interest in even testing the thing in closed beta, I'm attempting to put BG1UBv4 Tutu into open beta. I myself have thoroughtly tested pretty much everything the mod has to offer in both Tutu v6b and EasyTutu, but I may have missed a few things. There are also a bunch of strings for the Espanol and Francais people to translate, so this will give them time to do that as well.

The only problem I have is how to get something public on PPG. None of my mods have been hosted on PPG, so I'd like to know the procedure. Admins in...
I'm not sure what the status of this is.  If there's no interest in hosting it here, I can host it on my server.  Though it makes more sense to host it here, since the original version is here.
