Installation problem
« on: August 06, 2006, 04:47:39 PM »
I've got a little problem with the installation.

I have a windows 2000 professional (with NT) for you to know (I think the OS doesn't have a problem with the game)

I downloaded BG1 Tutu full install (not the easy tutu) and I installed it. I have BG1 only with BG2 + expansion, I installed them for the full install and they run fine. When I install BG1 Tutu, the application exits automatically (and I think it stops in the middle of the installation). I thought it was normal so I installed the patch. During the core fix, This message appears

Quote
Installing [Core Bugfixes]
Copying and patching 1 file ...
Creating 1 directory
Copying 1 file ...

ERROR locating resource for 'COPY'
Resource [_xannn29.wav] not found in KEY file:
        [./chitin.key]
Stopping installation because of error.

ERROR Installing [Core Bugfixes], rolling back to previous state
Will uninstall   1 files for [SETUP-TUTUFIX.TP2] component 0.
Uninstalled      1 files for [SETUP-TUTUFIX.TP2] component 0.
ERROR: Failure("resource [_xannn29.wav] not found for 'COPY'")
PLEASE email the file SETUP-TUTUFIX.DEBUG to SimDing0 and Ghreyfain (please repo
rt bugs and problems on the Tutu forum at http://www.pocketplane.net/)

And it exits...

So i've uninstalled Tutu and reinstalled (with the procedures cited in the readme) 5 times until I was bored so I wrote this message.

Thanks for the one(s) who will help me ;)

Hello -

I suggest uninstalling BG2, deleting its folder, reinstalling BG2/ToB (and patching it), and then installing EasyTutu.

I did exactly what you asked. I reinstall BG1 (the full version with the patch and without the expansion) too and the easy tutu says that files are missing....

But I installed with the custom thing and I checked everything...

Some of those are TotSC files, but many are not.  Your BG1 installation is incomplete.  If you get it to the point where only TotSC files are missing, the EasyTutu installer will give you the option to proceed with a TotSC-less install.

Now here's the problem.

What you said worked, I installed it perfectly. When the installer execute the "patch" command (wher Ms-Dos open and says "patching", there's a window that comes out and say

Quote
bg source/file/version missmatch (I can't remember, I'll reinstalll to see wghat it said, I'll edit when it happens again)

And it quits.

I'm sure you have already faced this problem so (I hope) you know how to solve it...(I'm so close to finish the installation...)

Bleh -- that part of the TotSC-less installation is definitely the tricky part.  I'm glad it worked on the second try.  Out of curiosity, how much system memory do you have in the computer you ran this on?

Also: See this thread for a file you should grab to prevent a problem that exists in the current version of EasyTutu for no-TotSC people.

Upgrade that memory if the budget will allow it. You'll be glad you did, for so much more than just gaming. Memory isn't terribly expensive.
