Sarevok-Be-Gone V1
« on: March 05, 2006, 01:40:04 PM »
http://404forums.net/downloads/Sarevok-Be-GoneV1.zip
(thanks to Froberg for providing this link)

If you thought his existence in TOB is an atrocity to storytelling (as much as TOB is), or if you still hate the man for killing your foster parent, or just jealous of his munchkin stats, you might want to try this mod.

Since I am a modding idiot, it's not weidu-ed. Just copy the files in the zip and put them in override (make sure you back your files first), and Sarevok will be gone in TOB!

Edit:

By the way, post here if you have any questions or comments. Thanks.

ADDENDUM:

You can also find the V2 link in this thread as well.

this is the link for SarevokBeGoneV2:

All criticisms are welcome. etc.
V2 is now in weidu, so just run the .bat file like any other weidu mods. My thanks to Rastor and The Wizard for hosting.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but full time jobs take... well... full time!

I uploaded it to my two mirrors, allthough the one you have is probably better:

If I have a bit of time, I will look into WeiDU'ing it for you. It is a good idea imo.
Hang in there. I'll try to make you glad you did.

Things to expect for the next version:
Better transition (someone will explain the nature of the pocketplane, that used be Sarevok's job)
Drew's solution (bullying Sarevok into opening the trial instead of erasing him from the game)

BTW, MajorTomSawyer, thank you for the links.

No problems with waiting, that's for sure :)

Just get Caspenar to say what the pocketplane is.

To Froberg:

I would, but there would be no voice acting. Since Cespanar has voiced lines for all his dialogues, I prefer not to disturb the game "coherency."

Likewise, I would've changed the pocketplane to Gehenna, if not for the Solar's line.

Right now, I'm thinking about either adding a journal entry or a demon who explains the nature of the plane. Maybe both.

Cespenar's voice shouldn't be two hard to imitate with a decent editing suite.

JCompton did lines for Weimers Item Upgrade mod I believe for Cespenar, not bad either!

The main problem with many mods who utilize sounds sets, is that the recording is completey horrible - and the audio apparently hasn't been cleaned up from background noise, which makes the resuilt quite crappy in many cases.

I am almost finished with the next version (weidued!). I take it that the Froberg and MajorTomSawyer would be generous enough to host the updated files?

Sure i was mad at Sarevok for killing Gorion, but i strongly believe in redemption. Also i felt that his wisdom on the Bhaal prophacy's would come in handy.

I believe that too but the only useful information Sarevok gives you is how to get out of the pocketplane. Totally not worth the trouble though I don't know why Charname or Imoen have to suffer for it.
And on another point, forget coherency, if we all cared for coherency we wouldn't be installing mods in the first place. Go ahead and edit Solar's lines and just delete her vioce file... or something.

Untrue. Plenty of mods manage to be coherent.

Why not use Gorion(or spirit of him) to tell you what it is. If a solar can pop freely in and out of the Abyss, I wouldn't put it past Gorion to damn himself there so he can help guide along your path.(It'd be really cool if you could give HIM some of your essence so he could return to life, if still somewhat constrained. I'm betting you could do alot of quests off of this too.) It makes more sense to me that your step-father would know more about the Bhaal spawn prophecies then fighter, having raised you in Candlekeep fully aware of what you where, and I get the slight feeling that he suspected Imoen to be similar. It still fits that if you don't give some of your life force, that Imoen would just to see Gorion live one more time
