Request for a TuTu component to be seperate for BG2
« on: October 19, 2005, 08:29:55 PM »
I love how during the install of TuTu you get to choose classes/kits for all the NPCs. I was wondering if you might consider doing a NPC pack for regular BG2 with the same options.

It would make me very happy.

While not a WeiDU-based mod, Blucher has had something along these lines available for years: http://www.fortunecity.com/boozers/winelodge/79/

The "Level 1 Alternate NPCs" mod provides many different class options for the various BG2 NPCs.

Thank you for the quick responce. I do have that mod saved to disk. I just prefer the TuTu options. I like Weidu better (who doesn't), and if I remember correctly, TuTu has more options.

It would be nice to have a WeiDU version of that mod, yes.  The current incarnation isn't easily uninstalled, I don't think.

Actually, I was wondering if the NPC kit selection could be intergrated in TUTU itself in the superficial fix or a spearate submod that goes on top of TUTU, as it seems to be a rather common request to change the NPC's kits, and at present it requires the full reinstall of the conversion, which otherwise functions perfectly :)
Hang in there. I'll try to make you glad you did.

It would be a bit more forgiving on the players who at present have to either think it through before the install, without knowing how the kits fare, or do it at random :)

Yeah, that's sort of on my to-do list for Things I Will Do When Tutu Has No Bugs.  If someone else wanted to create a kid component that wasn't quite as wacky as the options in the Tutu main package (Khalid dual-wielding bastard swords?  What were we smoking?), we could certainly add it.

Edit: Actually, maybe we could just host it.  Adding it to Tutufix doesn't make all that much sense, nor does it really fit in TutuTweaks or any similar package.  A standalone would be best, I think.

Could you pull it from the current install as a starting point for someone who would be interested in packaging a standalone patch (me)? The TUTU Tweaks also have custom kits/classes for three or so NPCs, so that the whole package then can become the Kit Selector for BG1 TUTU as a TUTU-based mod.

I think someone moved this so it's an easily-seen feature request.  They didn't move my replies, though.  And I forget which thread it was in.

Edit: Okay, everything's all mooshed together as it was before.

No, because we don't have access to the Tutu source code.

That sounds like it could work.

Oops, so then it will be both in the install and a separate patch?

Yeah. :-\  Much in the same way that Tutufix 14 is mooshed in with Tutu6.  I haven't yet tried to see if updating the package is possible on that count, though.  But yes, the kit selection thing is in there until japh or someone with both the source and the will to learn the necessary ocaml takes it out.

I am looking forward to the times when there is a core "No Bugs" version and a superficial package with the options on top of it.  ;)

Glad to see I am not alone in wanting this package.

I am looking forward to TuTu v6 as well.
