Restored BG1 Casting Sounds is designed for players who enjoy the authentic BG1 experience while playing Tutu. It allows spellcasting vocals to be restored to those used in BG1. While designed for Tutu, it will also work with any other BG2 installation. For download links, please see the Tutu page: http://www.pocketplane.net/tutu/

It won't really make any difference.

For those of you who don't read the front page (which begs the question, why not?) this package has been updated to include the hollow clank of armour when it gets hit in battle. Through some magic, Sim's managed to keep the download size roughly the same as it was before.

It looks like The Ding0 has struck once again. BG1 Casting Sounds is now up to version 3.

But they don't work properly... E.g. when someone casts a healing spell, it doesn't sound like healing for me, but rather like... something different

I mean... magic schools get mixed, necromancy sounds like invocation etc. But maybe it's only my computer's fault or I haven't heard the sounds for so long that they got mixed in my head

No, some casting sounds sound the same and others sound completely different.

Its true, the casting chants all appear to be right, but the actual sounds are all mixed up, easiest to notice on spells with a short casting time 2 or less, clerics enchantments sound like divination. bg2 must have shuffled the numbers of the schools round or something, its definately wrong

The problem is to do with the priest casting sounds, the following files are named incorrectly:
CHA_SP01.wav transmutation should be CHA_SP08.wav CHA_SP02.wav illusion should be CHA_SP01.wav CHA_SP03.wav abjuration should be CHA_SP02.wav CHA_SP04.wav conjuration should be CHA_SP03.wav CHA_SP05.wav divination should be CHA_SP04.wav CHA_SP06.wav enchantment should be CHA_SP05.wav CHA_SP07.wav evocation should be CHA_SP06.wav CHA_SP08.wav necromancy should be CHA_SP07.wav
changing these around fixes the problem, just in case anyone wanted to know!

Okay, good catch, fixed. This mod's undergone some fairly major revision, so look out for a new version soon.

SimDing0,
the link lets you download a corrupted file of only 136 Kbs. Please check it out, thanks!

Yes, I have verified that myself now after I cleaned up the Temporary files of Internet Explorer. Sorry for the false alarm.

Couple of questions for ya:
1. What music program will play the .wav files from the mod? 2. Where in the BG2 folder are the original BG2 casting sounds located? 3. Any idea how far along v5 is? No pressure :-)
Thanks! - John

One more question:
4. Is there any way to have certain characters use the BG1 sounds and others to use the BG2 sounds?
Thanks! - John
