This is one of the banters that was available in screenshots before, only now edited a bit.

EDWIN: Usually I would have some tolerance for a noble of Calimshan. They have the rudiments of culture - nothing approaching the sophistication of Thayvian society of course - but the Calimshite appreciation for the magical arts, their wealth and trade supplies, their glorious backstabbing, all serve to elevate your people above the common Western baboons with which I must constantly associate.

SURAYAH: That is a coincidence. Most Calimshites would say the same thing about a Wizard of Thay.

EDWIN: (Slightly less ignorant than a monkey, yet still awesome in their stupidity. Is this not what I just said?) You are not like most Calimshites. I have noticed this, as I notice everything of interest and importance. You have foolish notions of equality with the members of this group, when all but me should be beneath you - such idiocy eclipses your more useful qualities.

SURAYAH: Do not be silly, Edwin. A wizard of the world such as you should realize by now that always being on top can grow boring. Boredom leads to dissatisfaction, and dissatisfaction leads to drama, trauma and rope burns. Change is the natural order, so I prefer to not continually master other people. Strange...I would have sworn that Red Wizards like changing positions. I always thought that was why the tenures of zulkirs are so transitory.

EDWIN: Ah, your conclusion is nakedly wrong. (Yet bewitchingly right.) It is because true talent and gratuitous skill will always prevail. I assure you, Surayah, were I beneath you, you would swiftly be transported by my overwhelming superiority. Inherent supremacy is the natural way of things. (Which is why I never question myself. Do I? No, I don't.)

what will she say to Edwina.

There's one banter with Edwina at the moment. Surayah encourages Edwina to, err, enjoy her new womanly form. I think there are only two innuendoes in that one. It's practically pristine!

As my favorite mod is the Edwin romance, I would think that if this mod will be compatible with it that the dialog between S and E would be very inappropriate. If there is no romance between Edwin and a female pc then it is alright.  As Edwin is my personal romantic ideal I would find such talk making my Bhaalspawn want to kill him slowly, with extreme prejudice, and her, too!   Angry
Will this be taken into consideration?  Or will this mod assume that players will always or nearly always play male pcs?
Just wondering!

 Shocked

I'm kind of counting on that the answer to that is no. Tongue

Uh, yeah, since one of the time consuming, ongoing, tasks I have is working through tracks that coordinate with the PC being a female romancing Anomen, the PC being a romantic match yet not romancing Anomen, and then the PC just not being a romantic match for Anomen, I have to say I'm not assuming the PC will always be male.

I don't really see this banter as an incompatibility with the Edwin Romance mod, as much as jealous-minded PCs. Smiley It's just suggestive talk, no different from the Viconia-Edwin interactions in the unmodded game. (Which I would hope the ER mod does not alter/remove. The only time I played through that, I dd not have Viconia in party.)

Hmmm...I've not played the ER with Viconia yet, but from what I recall in the forum, the banter between him and Viconia HAS been changed a bit.  In the ER, as you know, Edwin is quite jealous himself.  For Surayah, the banter is terrific and funny!  But it is, ummm...how to best put this! VERY suggestive and any female pc who isn't deaf and dumb would probably be driven to extreme violence even if she is of a good alignment.
This is not meant as a criticism!  The mod looks wonderful and I look forward to playing it.  And I certainly am not capable of producing a mod myself so I can only try to imagine how difficult and time consuming it must be.  I just can't help but hope that if Edwin is romancing the pc that perhaps the above banter will either not take place, or perhaps will if Edwin is trying to get the pc jealous because has to suffer thru Anomen's attentions to the pc, or Edwin is trying to make Anomen miserable because Anomen is, well, Anomen!
Thanks in advance for all your hard work.  It is very appreciated!  Smiley

The decision of whether a PC should respond to banter content wth NPC murder is always left open to the player. (Please see various "Kelsey gets an axe in the face for romancing Imoen" discussions.)

ER adds on to the flirt-ish banters with both Vic and Mazzy if the romance hasn't yet reached the committed stage. If not romancing the guy, the banters are normal. If at the committed stage, you won't see them at all.

I do recommend taking Vic along for a while, the addition's very funny. (Mazzy's is amusing, but not as funny)

Thanks, RavenBlack, I'll take Vic along for a time!  Hmmm...maybe I will also check out those 'axe in the face' discussions J Compton mentioned.  As much as I love BG and have for years, I don't think I will take the game THAT seriously (as to axe a poor guy in the face!) But I really enjoy the mods the fans have made and obviously put such hard work into.  I do wonder, tho, how much computerese a person needs to know to make a mod.  I've tried looking up such info and it seems quite complicated.  I know I'm probably twice as old as many of the people who come to these boards, but I would hate to think it really is true that an old dog can't learn new tricks!   Undecided

Huh. Maybe I'm just not the jealous type. A little sexy talk doesn't mean anything if I know the NPC's heart belongs to Charname. I find romance conflicts quite excruciating to sit through however. I think romance should be about trust, not jealousy.

I have thrown Viconia out of the party after she threatened to castrate Kelsey, but that's because I don't approve of threats of bodily harm, not because she suggested he was staring at her.

Bons: Reading through the board, I'm quite looking forward to trying everything your mod will offer.
