game crashes upon starting new game

Hello,

I custom/full installed BG1, and have BG2 + TOB on my comp (full install) and I just installed tutu.

I click on the BGmain.exe and it starts up exactly like BG2 does, complete with a "SA or TOB" option.

I choose SOA and create a new character. When I hit "start" the game "minimizes" and then stops, giving me a black screen of ">_<"

All help is appreciated

Me again, about 5 minutes later...

I installed the fixpack, and this time got the option of playing BG1, cleverly disguised at BG SOA.

I created my character and... whoops, same deal with the minimization and the black screen of ">_<"

I know the problem... you'll need to uninstall Tutu and then search these forums (it should be stickied) for a post about the Tutu installer checking for a file called rndata.2da or something like that that needs to go into the "bg1-override" folder of the Tutu directory created in your BGII directory.

I've always thought the rndequip.2da error would prevent Tutu from installing right away, but maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway - Valdir: I'm not actively ignoring you, it's only that I kinda don't have an idea...

I respect that anyone replied at all!

Anyways, I uninstalled tutu then downloaded that .2da or whatever thing and installed tutu + the fixpack.

Now, if I click on BGmain nothing loads! It acts like its going to, but then it stops.

Oh this is just great, now BG2, which worked fine before, doesn't load at all.

BG1 however, loads fine. BGmain still poops out

Anyways, everytime I try to load up Baldur's Gate 2 or BGmain.exe it instantly crashes.

I can't say anything but "Reinstall".

1) Uninstall Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II
2) Uninstall Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2.
3) Delete the Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 directories

4) Install Baldur's Gate, choose Custom install and install ALL components, install to default directory.
5) Download and install the Baldur's Gate patch.
6) Install Baldur's Gate II, and choose Full install, install to default directory.
7) Install ToB, choose Full Install, install to default directory.
Download and install the BG2: ToB patch.

9) Download Tutu and unzip to C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\
10) Download RND

12) Click BGMain.exe and play Tutu.

Additional: You may want to install the Tutu Fixpack, and it doesn't seem you have TotSC, which is required for the Core Fixes, the main component of the Fixpack. But there is a workaround...

1) Open up setup-tutufix.tp2 in Notepad.
2) Comment out (put // in front of) the following lines (use the "find" search feature to find the lines):
              ~_BAYARD.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_KING.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_MARCEL.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_QUEEN.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_CHAN07.ITM~ ~override/CHAN07.ITM~
COPY_EXISTING ~_BARESH.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_BARESH2.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_SKELDED.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_CORPSE1.CRE~ ~override~
              ~_CORPSE2.CRE~ ~override~
COPY_EXISTING ~_MISC1H.ITM~ ~override~
WRITE_ASCII 0x44 "_GBLUN06"
3) Save the file.
4) Run setup-tutufix.exe.
5) Install Core Bug Fixes component.

It was working fine and I was happy with the aweome enhancements the BG2 engine provides.

However, while I was playing the game crashed when I tried to get to the Friendly Arm Inn.

It's asking for my Baldur's Gate CD  in 255 drive or something similar.

However, my ToB and BG discs are both in the comp.

Hmmm, I have no idea. My guess would be that you didn't do a custom install w/ all components checked.

Do you have a Movies folder in each of your CD# (2 through 5) in your BGII - SoA directory and do you have a Movies folder in your Baldur's Gate directory?

I just copied my movies over from my BG1 DVD.

GREAT mod guys. Makes you appreciate the features Black Isle added to BG2
